What does that have to do with it?
Don't listen to him, hedgy. I think this is payback from Obama for you signing that petition. There couldn't be any other reason.

Drink plenty of beer and get some salt into your system this weekend..................

Diet is at the root of the issue. Anyway, you are an obese man in your 30s. There is no excuse for that. This could be a good thing for you. Good luck.
Have had it for 15 years. Get some cherry extract or cherry juice. Lay off beer and take it easy on the protein. I have not had attack in 6 years since I got on allopurinol . Problem for you is you cannot start the drug until you are attack free. Colchicine helps reduce the attack. The only cream that worked for me was capsicum or cayenne ointment. Once I had attacks in 6 joints at one time. I feel your pain.
Co-worker had gout. Doc did give him medication, but then said his condition was hereditary.
He is 35 and obese. This condition can often be controlled by diet. Seems like 2 birds can be killed with one stone from where I'm standing. I hope it turns out well for both hedge and your friend.
37 and obese cie, are you kidding me?
I think most people might be surprised what is "technically" obese to the medical field

Hedge,
I have it as well. U have to b careful that if u r prone to high levels of uric acid, they can destroy ur joints over time.
I was getting attacks all the time and I never knew what I had. I take apporuniol (sp). Very few issues once I was on it awhile. Diet can help, gout is hereditary. I had to pull my father out of the tub and he doesn't drink.
Anti inflam helped me, but should not be used long term. I recommend going to the ER, get the right meds and b done w/it.
I couldn't even imagine getting a shot directly into the infected area.OUCH
People have no idea of the pain until u have an attack, especially in the BIG TOE.
Also lay off the shellfish.
