Wow, what a ride it's been the past three or so years. Will walk across the stage today and accept my Communication Arts & Literature Degree, allowing me to teach grades 5-12. Looking back, I can't help but remember the incredibly stressful times of trying to manage a family, job, coaching, a full college load (plus some...), student teaching, and of course, cancer thrown into the mix just for fun. I remember quite a few posts made here out of frustration, and out of fear of what was to come.

I also remember the great friends I have developed here over the years, and the incredible support I've received from so many of you. To think that my journey into teaching and coaching is entering a new phase is difficult to process at the moment, but I wanted to take a moment to thank everyone here for their friendship and support over the years.

This is truly a special place, and I'm thankful I have so many of you that I can call my friend.

Cheers! :0074 :toast:

i think i can really relate to ur post after watching my girlfriend do the same thing with one obstacle after another thrown in her way. It is sad to be going back to school at this age and then having something like cancers to deal with along with ur studies. U should be really proud of urself cause i know i am really proud of her.

Congratulations.....as a coach, teacher and administrator for 37 yrs I'm leaving in another month...my story is a little different since I got called out of retirement twice...but it June I'm hanging it up for good.....so as one goes you come in....good luck in getting a job....times are so tough right now..at my school we had to let go 23 teachers...the good news is we got to bring back 15 for another year...
Try to sub at a few schools in the fall if you haven't landed a position..get to know the administration....coach at one of these schools....if you did your student teaching at one school and they liked you that helps...tomr am at 8.40 I'm observing a student teacher who is finished on wed...I promised her I would observe her before she left...I'll write her an observation like any other teacher...she can put that in her resume..providing she is good...I did a few walk ins and I know she is good....
I was invited to talk at our local college to about 100-150 future teachers about a month ago....I told them what I just said to you...also if you have time and money start working on your masters...esp Sp ED...duel certification gives you a big advantage....you play more positions which gives you an edge...good luck...you picked the best profession......esp. if you can land a job....
