Man, I need to get on the gulf like yesterday! Haven't been out since last July. I'm feening.

Shrimp with popper cork or jig? Awesome trip!

I understand, being out in the fresh air on the beach was a really nice break from being cooped up! I studied the surf fishing in Nov when we moved here and once I figured out what bait to use and high tides I am addicted!
Specific pompano rig with two lures poppers live shrimp as bait!

I use the live shrimp with the popper corks because we also catch snook sometimes as well with live shrimp.

Surf fish, do you do this from the beach?
Yes Sir, I use a 14' pole with a #5 weight, hoist it out as far as I can cast, set it in a rod holder. I use a light weight rod and cast about 30 yards out to catch whiting and some snook while I watch the big rod. Lots of guys just use the big rods and sit and drink beer and wait.......I am too damn wired to just sit there

No Reds or Trout?

Need to go flounder gigging if you've never done it. Probably a local charter that is close and it is reasonable if you get a couple a guys to go with you. Couple a hundred a piece. Fun and great eating!

Where you move to?

Bought a 2nd home in Port St Lucie, 30 miles north of W palm beach. Quiet little city about 10 miles from Jenson beach. I have been on several charters fishing for mangrove snapper, trout and snook. I couldn?t handle the winters in Colorado so we decided on s Florida. Heading back to Colorado in a couple of weeks till November 1st then back here.

Gourmands describe the Atlantic pompano as ?the world's most edible fish.? The flat-bodied, pan-sized pompano is easy to eat whole, a form that shows off the beautiful, silvery skin. ... The attractive, silvery skin is edible and does not require scaling. Pompano meat is firm but finely flaked, with a sweet, mild flavor.Jan 23, 2014
