Wayne, I cannot agree with you on a blanket whitewash of Obama's record. I think on some issues he's stood fast and gotten things done - not that the other side (and you) would agree with those things. He's been very strong on several issues, and deserves respect for those - although you and those who micro-examine his motives don't agree.

I can't think of many Presidents who came into office and had to deal with what Obama has had to deal with. Some, yes. But what irritates me is seeing such rampant criticism about someone who considers more than one option in many cases - as the leader of the free world - and seeing that criticism as being self-appointedly accurate is just sad.

I am having a very difficult time with where the country is headed, despite seeing some promising economic signs - some thanks to the efforts undertaken by the Obama administration. At least I'm honest about it. Which is more than I can say about many of the conservatives here - and you - who I don't think would ever consider voting for a democrat. If you would, please tell me one that you have voted for in your life, and why?

I think the economics of our country have changed completely in the past several years. It STARTED with Bush, and I don't see real efforts on the democratic side to aggressively face those situations. I may have to hold my nose in the next election and vote with what I think is appropriate for the economic (and defense-related) good of this country, which certainly could be conservative based.

But one thing that will always now make me hesitant to vote conservative is thanks to the Supreme Court - who has effectively made my voice nearly nonexistent in the big picture by allowing the major corporations to control the message and dominate our election process.

Actually Chad I have voted for several Dems--did you forget my telling you you pre election and post I could not vote for reb gov a 2nd term--because he had 3rd worst attendance record of all govs--

I understand your holding your nose and voting -we all do that on occasion-

For the most part we vote for those we identify with--who's character/values most closely resemble our own--or its a matter of economics/redistribution of wealth motive.

History shows that those of us who thought inading Iraq was insane were correct. I also happen to be pissed that we are still in Iraq and Afghan. But make no mistake about it the toll those two wars have taken on this country have driven us to the brink of bancruptcy. Dogs and his like are siimple republican puppets who will cheer anything a republican does and trash anything a Dem does all to the detriment of the United States.

Interesting we have only 2 threads on this war with little participation.

Can imagine the hoopla had this been in GW's era.

Of course this is a ""kinetic military action" not a war as you will hear in speech tonight.

IMO I am not against action but against the waffeling for 31 days and then letting French grab O by the ears and lead him. I assume everyone knows Frances vested interest?

Also I am not much on the delusions and fabrications made so far.

I can tell you with certainty from experience as vet vs acorn organizer that this action will be weeks/months vs days--we already have troops on ground--and toss up which will cost more--the military action or rebuilding.

Whether action was good move will be determined by results. Will we actually remove him and bigger question--who are these rebels that will replace him.

As we've seen in Egypt--appears we will have a western ally in all probabilty replaced with the Muslim Brotherhood.

I also ask myself--why Libya and not a peep on Iran last year or Syria now?

Almost 2 months later---

WH: US MISSION IN LIBYA NOW OPEN-ENDED...

What I find hilarious about this thread is that many of us have criticized Obama countless times over the past two years for escalating the war in Afghanistan...

...and now the biggest war-monger on this forum wants us to believe he's suddenly developed a conscience.

Excuse me now while I remove the bullshit oozing out of this thread and onto my monitor and keyboard.

I call em as I see them--as noted. Only thing in doubt on this one was--is he that clueless or was it a deliberate grift.

Our troops would have had this finished in days--if O wasn't playing the lackey for the UN/France with our troops.
Can't imagine the embarrassment of our military when O put - The French/UN in charge of them. Some very unhappy campers in our military--

I can remember the days when just a threat of us invading could get Kadafi to comply with our wishes.:SIB

You must be refering to the good old days when Qadaffi "complied with our wishes" by sponsoring anti-U.S. and anti-British terrorism on a global scale.

Too bad Reagan didn't get his man. We wouldn't be dealing with this lunatic today. And 270 people wouldn't have died in the PanAm 747 bombing over Lockerbie, Scotland.

Chad:

Is that any different than the labor unions doing the exact same thing the last 20 or so years?

It's all special interests (both unions and corporations) and big money. At least, finally, corporations and unions are on equal footing.

If you want to change the SC decision, then we'd also have to mandate that unions are held out of the election process entirely. And if that was the case, the Dems would really have a hard time winning any elections.

But don"t labor unions try to help those who are doing the labor? Who are the corporations trying to help? (wish I had a picture of a big pocket)

One more thing.. How can Dog's always claim he is not racist and he loves hanging with black people but starts a thread title "GUMBY"

PITY REALLY.

That's a tough one. Labor Unions are helping their members, but also very concerned with their own salaries and political power - so I would say they have 2 agendas.

Corporations are trying to make money for themselves, stockholders (which in many cases are you and I via mutual funds) and stay in business - which they won't do if they don't meet profit objectives. And that helps the employees by providing good jobs (although not as clean of an argument that unions use). So I would say they also have 2 agendas.

I think both special interests protect their own hierarchy and their members in one way or another....

Again, as I do like to point out, public and private unions are 2 different animals. Private - no issues with, as there is actual bargaining and contention between labor and management with differing goals. Public unions are a joke and hurt all of the taxpayers by artifically inflating costs - both salary, time off, and benefits - above what the market will bear. We overpay, in total, for labor in the public union sector, as compared to the private market. And that inequity should not exist.

Ok, enough for a Saturday afternoon!

I have no problem giving tax breaks to corporations if they need it to survive, retain and hire employees, promote growth, and having good working conditions.

I think and maybe I need to do more research is that a lot of these companies take their breaks and put em in their pockets. I don't think people like the Koch's help people get into power, get the tax breaks to get more money, then help out the common man.

I think this is what most people are pist about. Tax breaks to help the corporations is a smoke screen up our ass in many cases.

So we will see what happens in WI as far as business goes since Walker couldn't get the breaks passed fast enough. Had to get em signed so his pimps could feel easy about getting him elected.

I don't know why you bash unions and support the Kochs.

Ah Muffy Nothing like king race baiter like yourself to come up with signature like you have.

It's always the same--

1st -with almost 20,000 post have yet to have anyone hunt up racist comment I made here.

2nd there have been prob 25 or more incidents of handful of race baiters (and not counting BP as one as he just happened to get trapped this time) and in all cases it as same as this thread--
They can't dispute post which reflects poorly on them- therefore they opt to tag it racist and try to dodge the subject.

Since we have black pres they now can use the racist rant for anything said about presidential or admin policy.

Before they were confined to racism as mention of any bureau of statistics/demographic #'s / or other facts that are indisputable.

Next time they get embarrassed because of irrefutable stats--I suggest they save their one lineliners and use--

black20kid2020thats20rakd2.gif

and move on.

--and for the record -
Am I
-Racist?- no way
-Statistically prejudiced?--absolutely!
-Do I profile?-yes to the nth degree

...............................................................

as far as you being a racist neocon right wing
krautinheimer.

you have been judged by your peers

The jury has spoken and the verdict was in long ago.

It didnt take 20k posts for determination of a racist attitude.

Note- no blacks have come into my insurance co for 25 years. :SIB

why do you think that is ?

Its not your outright blatant racism statements.

The worst kind of racist is the one that hides behinds " I have made no statements about hating blacks "

Because thats the ones that put the klan sheets on and go out at night with torchs.

Guilty as charged.

Again I see you continue to expect your questions to be answered, and toss out ridicule if they aren't. So, I'll stop this line of commentary with a list I found of 90 things Obama has done right - depending on your opinion of him and what you personally believe. The beauty of your question is that you can summarily dismiss the entire list because you don't like him or his political stance - and continue to say he's done nothing right, Wayne. For the sake of answering your question, here goes.

Now that I've answered it, perhaps you can answer my question and others questions of you in this same thread. If you didn't see it, go back and check.
