I just got back from Dana Farber in Boston..
I thought I had hepatitis because I had yellow eyes and my stomach hurt
Well I was wrong....

It seems I have non Hodgekins Lymphoma...
My whole liver is overrun (I had Budweiser doing this in my organ pool)

I head into the hospital Monday for a removal of a small part of my liver...

Then Tuesday I start aggresive chemo program for 6 months (my second bout of chemo... I also had 35 shots of Radiation)

Not sure what I did in a past life but it musta been bad....

Anyone who knows anything about these treatments... ease my mind...
Thanks guys

I'm sorry to hear of your situation hokie.

I'm a strong believer that the mind is the most powerful healer. I imagine it must be tough, but try to stay positive and will yourself to beat this. If you believe it in your mind, I think your body many times puts up a stronger fight.

Heaven, oh!!, this isn't it?!
Hokie,
I for one have always enjoyed your quick wit, humor, and great posts! And know this:com: I dont believe you did any thing (past or present) to deserve this, so try to move away from those thoughts:).
Iam not a doctor, but totally agree with Saint(who is, I think, right?) that the power of mental/self healing is paramount............
Whatever I can do to help, feel free to email me or request here.

prayers with you, Hokie fan. I was thinking you had cancer now; I guess that was a different kind. Daggonit!! Have a friend now going through the Non-Hodgkins lymphoma. He had the same thing 10 years previously, and now, he has it again. I think you'll beat it!

What I can tell you without knowing the specific meds you will be treated with is that they are a lot better now than they have been in the past especially with all the nausea and vomiting and other side effects.

Another word of advice is this. When you get immunosuppressed (which you will-low white blood cell count), stay at home as much as possible, and wear a mask if you go out. Those secondary infections with immunosuppression are horrible if you don't take precautions.

You did it before you'll do it again. I remember the last time I said to you, think positive. It sounds simple and hokie but it works. The older we get ,most of us know and love people that are going down the road you have been selected to travel for what ever reason. I'm with you in mind and spirit. A very good friend of mine who is 79 yrs old had 2 wks of radiation and he came out great. This guy is amazing, didn't even get sick, he actually felt better during and after the therapy. They told him about the side effects but he did not have any. If you had the chance to meet my friend jack you would not believe he is 79. The thing that I like about him, is his attitude, he approaches everything the same way. Your mind is a powerful tool, don't let anyone take your focus of what you want the outcome to be. There are only two things that can happen, just live. Don't be afraid to be afraid. Laugh, cry ,hug and kiss the people you love. These are the best days of your life, you are feeling, you are connected, you are living.

You will be in our prayers Bro!

Do a google search for Milk Thistle (with at least 80% Silymarin) A good friend of mine who is into "Natural Cures" says that Milk Thistle is one of the best things for the Liver.

Head to GNC and stock up. (According to him)

Good Luck and stay positive! The mind is the best healer!
