One poster here recently stated he uses "sure thing favorites" in his betting strategy. The only sure thing I am aware of is that farts usually stink.

In a previous thread I was supporting my argument for playing parlays as opposed to laying heavy wood. I stated that I used "sure thing favorites" to boost the odds on some of my recent plays. I figured that most of you already knew there is no such thing as a "sure thing". I've been betting boxing for 6 years so obviously I know there is no such thing as a sure thing.

When I posted that comment, I was referring to the parlay partners I used to set up better odds on the fight in question. In that case, all of the parlays partners I used to get better odds on my favorite...all cashed in...therefore they were all sure thing favorites...for me

And to say that there are no "sure thing favorites" in boxing is absolutley wrong. DLH was getting the decision over Sturm regardless of what happened in the ring. D.Hopkins was getting the decision over Forbes regardless of what happened in the ring...that's quite obvious. Casamayor was getting the decision over Cruz regardless of what happened in the ring...that's obvious as well. Dzinziruk lost his fight this past weekend, but the promotion of the fight made sure Dzin didn't lose...

If those aren't "sure things"...I don't know what is...

Sorry for the exageration, I'll try to make things more clear for the rookies next time

Who knew they were sure things prior to the fights?. Are you saying that after Santa Cruz easily took 8 of 12 rounds from Casamayor, that you knew the decision was going to Casa prior to the announcement. Not sure why I remember this, probably because it was a great pick that should have cashed, but didn't you take Santa Cruz? When these sure thing favorites come along that are obvious as you say, just let us all know so we can all cash. Maybe they seem obvious after the fight is over.

Been posting winners for 6 years now, not my fault if your ego gets in the way of making money

Btw, I was on Casamayor over Cruz, D.Hopkins over Forbes, and Dawson over Johnson. In all cases I was on the wrong side, but I cashed every ticket along the way

I'll drop out of this pissing match soon enough, but PLEASE, let me know about any "locks" going foward. Rookies? Even to think in terms of a "gimme" or "no brainer" is a dangerous thought process. That was my point. Geez-can't lose? What a beautiful thing if it were true.

"the bunker"
i think phrases like"sure thing" or the dreaded"lock" word make most gambler`s blood run cold...

i think the phraseology is the rub...there are "likely outcomes" or "more certain"(i coined that oxy-moron myself)outcomes in boxing...plays that make excellent parlay partners for those of us that "eschew"(how`zat for verbal footwork :D)lthe laying of large odds....

but, literally, there are no "locks" or "sure things"in sports....look at the pats...look at cory spinks at home in st louis...

and i think most times,it has less to do with a "super effort" from the dog than it does with the fact that it`s human nature for a prohibitive fave to overlook a perceived easy mark.....it`s psychological...

box...we all know what you`re saying...as strother martin said,we`re just having a failure to communicate......

Haven't heard anything but theGreek is now offering a line once again for June 14th. The line has moved to -900. Never thought -750 would be a bargain on this one. I have quite a bit straight up and in parlays. I liked guzmans comments earlier in the week saying he's going to punish arthur for his comments.

The fight is OFF. Guzman gave up the title and is moving up to 135 after getting the runaround from Arthur and Co for the past several weeks. Guz had said that he could have made the fight 2 wks ago but apparently Arthur had no intention of fighting Guzman and was simply looking for an out. What a disgrace. He would have been thumped w/out question. I had ALOT of money on the fight straight up and in parlays. It frees up a bit of cash but I would have much preferred waiting 1 more month to collect on a nice payout.
