Has anyone called in sick for work and just wanted a day off? I have not missed a day of work for 30 years and yet I did tomorrow to sit on my ass and watch the masters. I feel guilty, should I ?

Calling in sick when you're not is one thing.

Posting about it on a public message board is another. :nono:

I worked at one place for 24 years and got ten paid sick days a year. I never rolled a single day over to the next year and never went into October with a single one left.

Yeah you should feel guilty. You should be ashamed of yourself.

My employees know there are NO sick days. None! This is one of the first things I cover when I interview them. I tell them if they call in sick they better be calling from the hospital. I'm serious! Talk about pet peeves.

If a family member or your dog dies, call me immediately so I can found someone to fill in for you while you take the rest of the week off. That's the only excuse I go for.

Sorry. :0003

I almost made my son wait 3 hours until quitting time to go to the emergency room when he splashed muriatic acid in his eye.

And I was right, there was no damage at all. Hell, we mix the shit with 8 parts water.

If you were my employee, with your record, all you have to do is ask for the day off to watch The Masters. :toast:

The only time I am off work is if one of my kids is sick and usually I still try to find someone to watch them so I can go in or they go with me and sleep on one of the recliners that we have for our customers to sit in while they wait. We did have to close the shop for one day last year because PaSprint and I both had the flu. But I even went in to call all my customers and then went back home. :SIB

Jack, we couldn't agree more on this one. If I hire you it's because I expect YOU to do YOUR job everyday you are scheduled to do it. If you let me know in advance you need a day off I will find someone else to fill in for you and I would honestly say my batting average for doing that is over 98%. If you stick me on the day you are supposed to be at work I'm gonna be pissed and recommend you spend part of that day updating your resume.
