while I am sure there are places on all the islands that are great, for my money Maui is the place to be. We stay at the grand lahina and love it, our last trip we stayed in a cottage that was literally thirty feet from the beach. The amenities may not be 5 star if that is what your looking for but it is very nice. I dont know if there is a bad place to go (outside of Honolulu) on the islands but I prefer Maui.
Good Luck

On our honeymoon, stayed on Lanai at The Lodge at Koele for a week and then the Four Seasons Hualalai on the big island for a week. Highly recommend both places. The Lodge is in the mountains, just a gorgeous place, and zero kids. Their sister resort on Lanai is beachfront. I believe that both resorts were just bought by Four Seasons.

I've been to the island of Kaui (northern most habitable island) If you do not want the "american" feel stay here, very remote, no americanization. the resorts are amazing and all beach front. the most geographically diverse island in my opinion, and in fact. The diving there is amazing as well.

Not till April--let me know--thanks guys/gals for your info

I was in Hawaii this past April and had 9 days of perfect weather. Sunny and warm, with slight trade winds...perfect to keep the temp down and not hard enough to affect your golf swing.

I go over a lot. Being from the "left coast" it's a pretty painless trip. I mostly go for the golf and the snorkeling. There are so many great places to stay, it's very hard to pick "the best". Someone mentioned Wailea....it's great for golf, good beach, somewhat luxurious, but it's remote and once you're there-you're there!

That goes for some of the other resorts that are all-inclusive. With only you and your 'honey", you may appreciate the privacy of some of the resorts. Most of them offer several restaurants on the premises as well as golf and beach amenities.

Maui, in general, has the most nightlife and atmosphere, Kauai is a beautiful island but boring, Hawaii (the Big Island) has several resorts along the Kona Coast (site of the Ironman) and plenty of golf. Oahu (Honolulu) is busy busy busy....loaded with tourists from the Orient. Plenty of nightlife though and Pearl Harbor artifacts and tours

I think you picked a great month to go....shop for the best prices 'cause the resorts all offer the same things. Car rentals are dirt cheap so don't worry about transportation.

You'll have a great time....
