I have been struggling with this the past 5-7 years. I have tried everything!!! For me it acts up when I drink (which sucks).

Any and all rememdies will be taken into account excluding anything to do with or to animals:mj07:

Really I need any thoughts and suggestions, please.

if you have never had a gout attack then consider yourself lucky!

Thank Goodness I have NOT had the stones. I know it is a by product of gout. The urine usually crystalizes in my knees/ankles or feet. It is really painful. Oh well thank goodness it doesnt cyrstalize in the "love" muscle. I always look for the postive :mj07:

Yea, well quitting is NOT an option I am going to beat this thing the right way ON MY TERMS1

My Doc was being a smart ass he asked me what triggered it for me. I said usually drinking dark beer. So he said well I suggest you quit drinking dark beer!

And I suggested he get a new personality since the other wasnt working for him, LOL

My doctor does politely point out that my diet (beer) triggers it. Only had in big toe before until recently had in ankle. I take Colchicine, Prednisone and 1 other pill that I can't find right now. Let me know if you want me to find out. They work.

On the course!
Yeah....I didn't give up any of the shitty foods I eat when I found out I was diabetic, either.

We'll show them!

I'll be blind before I'm 60, and have no feet........but what do the doctors know?

I don't take daily. Only when I have attack, which is usually a couple of times a year, but I have gone longer than a year without one. Mine would not go away without meds.

I stopped taking the Allopurinol and so far haven't had any flare ups.

I have been drinking considerably less beer and I'm sure that's been helping. However, the beer consumption will be on the incline for the next few weeks.....:mj06:

I struggled with it for quite a while, as different doctors could not diagnose it properly because the flare ups started when I was in university (beer drinking), and I guess it is fairly rare for it to start in your early 20's?

Anyway, I was never able to get the flare ups under control without medication (colchicine, allpurinol, and another I can't recall).

Good Luck with it.

Hey tonk. Jack is right, the cherry juice helps.

I have had it for about 8 years now and have not had an attack for over a year now.

I also have cut down on hamburgers and steaks. My doctor said that could be the cause.

I still drink like a fish on the weekends.:142smilie

That's a great point. I know that I'm doomed if I get too dehydrated.....The last bad attack I had was after about 20 beers on the golf course in 100 degree heat. I paid for that for about a week and a half.....
