Only been posting a few college footballers and holding my own with them, but my "core" investment is with the ponies. Thought I'd post one that looks best to me today.

Only bout a half hour to post for this one. BTW, I pretty much (90%( stick to Philadelphia Park racing....er, make that PARX ... YUK (who the hell thought of that name)).

Anyways...

TODAY's last race (10 th):

no. 10 Praying for Heat 8-1 ML

- ONLY speed in race.
- Likes Philly as much as any other
- SHOULD like distance
- 2nd last out with, LIKE TODAY, a lousy jockey. And looked good doing it.
- POOR connections (jock/trnr).
- should have clear sailing from outside post in one turn race.
- horse is named appropriately

Clearly and exacta facta. For me? .. W/Pl/3xShow play and maybe some xactas (I gotta see them on the track before making that decision). For now, thinking 1.6,11,12 make good candidates.

Oh, and watch out for the dang no. 6... this trainer DOESN'T know how to lose a race. One exception would be in todays 4th race where his horse came from 10+ lengths BEHIND the LAST horse to absolutely smokem in the backstretch. He passed them ALL IN A FLASH..... GOT PAST BY ONE HORSE IN EARLY STRETCH AND NAILED THAT ONE AT THE WIRE. One problem though - there was no jockey on the bastage. Ya think that horse wasn't gonna win that race like ALL this trainers other horse have in the past week or so? That trainer is something else. I still think my no. 10 can hang on to get a check in this race ESP. if the jock falls off no. 6.

Yep, it's a great place to play the ponies

Yep, it's a great place to play the ponies

Thanks for the reply, CD. It looks like my way of posting just doesn't work well for forums.. I post with little time left till post and apparently nobody here was able to get some of that one. Hope you watched the race though, it was a good one.

I post VERY infrequently. I'm mostly a "SPOTTER" (you know what that is?). I like to SEE the horses in the prerace and my spotting ways have paid off TREMENDOUSLY in the past. They allmost ALWAYS pay at least $40 to WIN. Problem is, I VERY rarely see a "10" (a horse that absolutely SCREAMS that he's ready to win in the paddock). And rarely means like one of them come along about ONCE in about 6 mos. of racing.

I know what you're thinking .... :scared

I posted this one without seeing him cause my handicapping (not as good as my spotting) made him a bit of a standout.

Now that I know that there's somebody (that would be YOU) are checking the picks out.. I'll do my best to post something that looks really good (thems are the only horses I play.. I skip PLENTY OF RACES).

I posted this one in my (only) other forum... here's my cut and pasted final reply there. It's something that might interest you since you are a Phlly Park fan and I guess a boxing fan too?..

.... . getting that baby home in front of Guerrero's horse wasn't easy. Whew.. like Mohamed Ali once said about fighting Joe Frazier,"fighting him is like taking a trip through HELL".

I wheeled the bastage and doubled up (top AND bottom with these) with the horses I mentioned above AND tripled up with Guerrero's hoss. The Heater was 3rd choice and Guerrero's hoss was bet down, as expected, to 6 to 5. Can you believe the exacta price?

Ya just gotta LUV this track.

Good Luck, CigDank

Dirtbombs and Philly Park

Dirtbombs and Philly Park

Thanks, Axle.

Hopefully I can get another one up in the near future with more time left for MadJackers to check out.

I see you play The BIG A and Hollywood. For many (and I mean MANY) years Aqueduct was MY favorite place and I don't even want to think about how many times I've been there. LUVED that place and saw almost ALL the great ones there in person... just look for speed, good jocks/trainers, and pay special attention to favorites. Favor sprints over route races. GREAT track, although I don't know about that in recent times. Only downside to that track is that you're up against shrewd N.Y. bettors which is why you mainly focus on favorites, but NOT all the time. Looks to me that you are "ON TRACK" with that place. I'll have to visit your thread too :)

Hollywood?... If things are like they used to be.. I HOPE you use different methods for picking those Cal. horses. I couldn't pick a winner at them tracks to save my soul.

BTW, CLEARLY - my bestest days at Philly are Mondays and Tuesdays. Caught a "NICE WIN" (thats a clue BTW) last week at Philly and that is pretty much the ONLY track I play these days (online that is.. I'm WAY too far from Aq. these days). It plays a lot like the Aqueduct of old days, but the prices are just UNREAL.

Thanks for stopping in Axle. Good luck.:0008

GREAT

GREAT

Now that last reply makes posting very worthwhile. :0074

Shady, you know the answer to this? I've wondered about this for a long time - is Philly Park on the same site that the old Liberty Bell (harness) track used to be on?

Now, the last time I was to Philly Park was like 20 (YIKES) years ago. Is it the same place. My sister lived in Warminster and it was a quick ride from her house. Made a point to visit PP anytime I visited her.

Oh, and yeah - I made a trip once to Liberty Bell (ask your grandfather about that place LOL).

Don't recommend anybody blindly following my picks, but DO so if I ever post, "This one's a 10 folks". He may not win but I can tellya that betting every one of them WILL make ya plenty in the long run. Just don't go bonkers on how you betem, they're usually HUGE odds so there's no need to go wacko. Of course, I can't guarantee a win but I can tellya that those plays have surpast my ROI at least 5 fold over any winning periods I've ever had. Haven't seen one of them for something like 6 mos. now but one will pop up someday.

BIG problem with that is that I see it like only 5 mins. to post (in the paddock and then confirm it in the post parade). DON'T WAIT for me to post one cause they are rare, but if by some miracle you see one and can get it in... that's a good thing.

For quite awhile I just played horses by just watching them. No program, no pps, nuthin. Used some info. judging them by the race distance, jock, trainer, owner, .. stuff like that only. Main thing was watching for signs that the the horse was ready to roll and knowing how he looked the last time he ran and how he did also. Worked pretty good, but just like last year that changes when the weather turns really cold. Thems ALL look like they'll have to choose between getting on the next train to either McDonalds or to the Glue factory after the race. So I'm pretty much stuck with handicapping them for awhile.

I'm pretty sure I'll be able to find something by regular capping on Mon. and/or Tues and I'll post it with much more time for you repliers. Thanks for stopping in.

GL ballin (if that's your game) the rest of the weekend. I'll be waiting for these kinda ball games

I used to do pretty good at the California Tracks, SA, Hol, DelMar, but since they went to synthetic surfaces, just average or less.....

Recently started playing Philly when the purse structure changed......every now and then will catch one there.... :SIB
