I am a very small bettor. But if I get up $500, I have no problem betting that on the next game of pitch and toss.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
She's my wife.
She washes my funky underwear and feeds my fat ass.
She does a lot more for me than I do for her.
This is the gal that tolerates all my bullchit.
I've been honest with her.
I've told her of the risk, the dangers and why some gamblers get in trouble (chasing).
I've talked with her about handicapping, money management and betting strategies.
I've talked with her about "value" and games "too close to the number".
I've talked with her about trends and systems.
For the most part, it's entirely greek to her, but she knows that I enjoy this pasttime so she listens.
I've also told her I would never let my wagering interfere with the family finances.
And believe me, we are poor.
She does not ask for much, but I try to buy her whatever she wants.
She told me, "You say its risky and dangerous, but I know you're careful, so I trust you."
I can't ask for anything more than that.
My wife could care less that I gamble and she is fully aware of how much and how often I gamble.
If my wife is curious and she asks a question about sportsbetting, poker or craps, I take the time to explain it to her and answer any questions she may have.
I don't gamble with the household finances or the retirement funds; I set a certain amount aside at the beginning of each season and if I lose it, I'm done for that sport. Had a great season in the NFL and college football; not so good in the college baskets and I'm about even in the NBA.
Just won 200 bucks in a NASCAR contest this week-end at another site so I've got a couple of bucks to lose on the Final Four.......;)
mine doesnot say much because she doesnot know much and that is how we keep it,its my business and ran like one,i don't tell her what to do at her job and she stays out of mine because i never tell her much she's bad luck.
she knows when things are good or not, ar182 had a great point and this is one that i had to work on the first couple years now its done,you can't run your life around gambling even if it is your job,family has to have its time and social life also to easy to fall into locked up tv and pc room or sports book out here and let everything else come 2nd,then you are in trouble,but the less they know the better in most cases,even for me. its just added pressure you don't need.
i would say i am handicapping it doesnot effect our cash flow i amnot foolish and i could really use your support on this,i enjoy it and really don't like to hide it from you,try to understand that i am not playing with the family trust fund and infact make alittle extra most months,can we please just leave it at that.
good luck tell her its about trust and if she would let you do it the trust we be much stronger,ifnot you got to quit its not your living and damn sure not worth losing a wife over.
My wife is very cool.I keep nothing from her and she bets nfl every Sunday herself.She actually does very well. She does not get hung up on all the info with stats and info on the web. She watches most of the games on the nfl ticket with two tv's going.Of course she always has to bet on Bret Favre and Kurt Warner all the time!
Whoever her biggest bet is on that day, she has to wear that team Jersey
on Sunday. I do the college and she does the nfl. If i go into a slump i ask my 11 year old son, who to bet on in college. He's a Canes fan so we did quite well last year.It's a family affair here.
Mrs Whale could not be any more understanding... I have finally settled into money management mode and this has been a blessing.
She is a huge hockey fan and grew up around sports-but I also involve her in many others. I would put my wife's sports knowledge up ag. any other womans(she never played sports).
I opened up her own account(small) and she is able to keep whatever she wins. She also enters many contests and always gets in the pools(ie NCAA-Masters etc).
We like to be competitive so we also enter every fantasy sport together-FB-BB-NHL-GOLF-NASCAR. It gives her a reason to watch-and that is the key.
However, she is unlike me in 1 way-tomorrow this could all be gone and she wouldn't blink an eye-likes too many other things.
I had a ticket to the NCAA 8 in Syracuse-and she knew it was hers-wife first even in sports.
I am very lucky I guess.......
Depends on the way she is. If you are already married and did not preface your relationship with "I gamble". And there is no way she will accept it then I'd stop gambling for a while build a nice bankroll where if you lose for a while there will be no Western Union Traffic. Spread it all around so you won't get burned if someone goes out of business and pull a Madjack and don't tell her a damn thing. Join a bunch of fantasy leagues to justify your sports watching and internet time. The biggest mistake guys make is telling their significant other only when they win. Instantly your bankroll is used on things like Stoves, Drapes and Manicures and then you when you hit that losing streak those winnings are gone and you are into family finances and the wife is pissed. I myself have had more relationships end because I gamble than I can imagine. I pretty much put myself through college gambling on sports, playing poker, and betting on other degenerate things like greyhound racing. But yet I tell a girl I gamble and she looks at me like shoot heroin and watch midget porn all day. Don't understand it. Just started dating a girl not too long ago, so we'll see this time.
yak,
I'm having this argument with my wife, and need your help.
Just how short do they have to be to be classified as midgets? I need a ruling.
As far as the gambling goes, she only minds if I spend too much time watching games when she is home, or sitting in front of the monitor all night. We really don't talk about the financial end at all. She was happy to see me put some of my winnings in the stock market though.
I guess I'm another one of the lucky husbands! My wife is very supportive of my hobby. We each get a certain amount of mad money each month that we can spend on ourselves. She buys the sexy clothes and I gamble. She likes sports and is quite knowledgable. We actually watch the games together. She has also entered a few contests and even won a few.
In turn, I am 100% honest with her, and never gamble OUR money. I'm responsible and faithful. I do all my cappin after she goes to bed so as not to interfere with our time.
To me, being fully honest is the only way to be. A marriage must be built on trust, and to hide or lie is asking for trouble.
Can't claim to be an expert on Midget porn, Little People porn or Dwarf porn, so you and the wife will have to just go out in the backyard and settle it with an old fashion midget throwing contest.
