Yeah, I get the point.. It's unfortunate that there are many people who kill animals just to kill them, not caring about the humane efforts... It is a shame and it gives hunting and fishing a bad rap.. I wrote to the outdoor network the other night because the bow hunting show was outragious. This dude had a bunch of dog that chase a mountain lion into a tree and the asshole shoots it as the big cat just calmly stares at him.. That is not hunting that is just killing.. The same goes for bear hunters who use dogs.. I think hunting and fishing are necessary, but I will say that some are so backwards and obtuse it is unbelieveable.

it seems to me something is wrong when you have one good hunter that understands what it is about, and then five that just kill for the sake of killing. Thats the part I can't tolerate.

Scott, I think your numbers might be a little skewed on this one. I would bet that its closer to 500 hunters that understand what its about to one who doesn't. I have been an avid hunter since I started quail hunting w/ my grandfather over 35 years ago and have met and hunted w/ a bunch of different people who practice ethical hunting methods and treat other peoples property w/ respect. I can assure you that the people "who do it right", have no use for and don't tolerate the aholes who don't and will do what they can to make sure they don't ruin it for the ones who do practice good hunting methods.

11-year-old killed in hunting accident

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

An 11-year-old boy hunting with his grandfather Friday night was shot and killed after a gun accidentally discharged.

Johnny Holtzclaw said the boy died late Friday at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite.

The shooting occurred just before 6 p.m. at the Dawson Forest Wildlife Management Area. Holtzclaw said the boy was killed by a single bullet.

Names of the victim and his grandfather were not made available by Dawson County authorities.

I must have had a few to many when I made this post KOD. Dont even remember doing it. Your KOD plays have acually been hitting lately. LOL Believe it or not and I think you do. Hunting and fishing have been a tradition in family's for hundreds of years including people from every walk of life from presidents to Janitors. Nothing wrong with it. But just as you can find in any thing you do there are idiots that will abuse it and make it wrong. Have your fun with it. Some of those videos's are actually pretty funny. I have heard worse.

You see I was raised up in a hunting family. I hunted in deep woods from when I was about 8 yrs old. I would shoot birds, squirrels, chipmunks, Raccoons, porcupines etc. Pretty much anything that moved in the woods. When I didnt have a gun I would kill them with rocks or my bare hands.

Went deer hunting every year like a ritual.

Then I got a epihphany about killing animals. Something came over me that I was done doing it. And I stopped.

I like to give both sides a chance though.

And you never know , by posting how to survive a Grizzley attack, I may save some madjacks hunters life someday.
