NEW ORLEANS ? Powerful Hurricane Ida slammed onto the Louisiana coast Sunday, a Category 4 storm wielding winds of 150 mph, life-threatening storm surge and potentially catastrophic rainfall.

The storm first crashed ashore near Port Fourchon, less than 100 miles south of New Orleans. A short time later it made a second landfall a few miles to the north, near Galliano. By then, power was out to more than 300,000 homes and businesses in the state, according to the tracking website poweroutage.us.

I have been in many Hurricanes....never experienced winds over 100...

positive thoughts for all those involved.

Cie, any updates?

I think the whole city of New Orleans is out of power and phone reception has been bad since the storm hit. I did hear there might be some power on Wednesday nite to a few spots in the city but this is going to take some time to get the power back and running to alot of cities south of New Orleans.

quick update

was hearing a few personal stories about flooding in nola the other night, but it turns out that was pretty isolated and just happened in a few different areas

wind fucked things up in the metro area and other cities just outside nola were hit hard by heavy rain and storm surge on top - main problem in nola is power but everything else seems pretty salvageable - in other places just outside city things a lot more fucked up

cie good but hot and trying to get his hands on generators and a/c units - i?ve been in jackson, ms with wife, kids and dog since sat night - headed to the beau rivage for a few nights tomorrow as i had booked a room for a solo trip a few weeks ago - hoping power is on by saturday, if not need to find a place to live for a while

New Orleans
All good fellas. Damage is minor in New Orleans, but some devastation southwest of us on the coast. Orleans parish and adjacent Jefferson parish constitute the bulk of greater New Orleans. Both parishes (counties to you) are 99%+ without electrical service until today. Now probably 98% lol My family went to seaside, Florida, and plan on staying there until a week from Friday. Nola will be back to normal by then. In the meantime, dogs and I are living generator life with refrigerator, spotty television (5G still struggling ) and an oscillating fan. I am able to cook on my gas cooktop and griddle and grocery stores are all open. Fuel is an issue, but I have couple of buddies who are topping off my jeep and gas cans as needed. Off to a poker game now. I don?t play much, but I?ll be the only one not drinking tonight so maybe I?ll run into a pot or 2

Cheers.
