There are two other factors at work that I think cause more bad beats or miracle hands to happen in online poker.
1. People will stay in with worse cards for draws because in a live game they would look stupid most of the time.
2. Most people that complain are playing in $1/$2 games or $6 tournaments (amounts may vary slightly). Well, there is a large segment of the online poker world that is playing and doesn't care about an $11 tourney. So betting $2,000 in chips on a 27 off suit seems like a good time to tell their buddies about. Especially if they bust up a pair of kings.
So, you are fighting the force of no humiliation and ridiculous calls because there is hardly any money at stake. I think if you keep these two things in mind, then you will reap the rewards in the long run.
I always think about this when I hear one of the announcer on TV say "Well, he knows that flop couldn't have helped his opponent." That simply does not apply online.
