You have obviously not played baseball if you think you always know if you caught it or not, especially with a ball in the dirt and a catcher's mitt.

The worst part about this is one of my good freinds is a Sox fan, and he can't even admit the umps missed a call. All he says is he should have tagged him because it was close. I watch a shit-ton of MLB and I never see catchers doing this. Not to mention he throws the ball to the mound. - He doesn't throw it to the mound if he doesn't think he caught it

I hope to God not all sox fans are like this. I am not anti-sox or anything but this makes for bad baseball, especially in such an important game. Not to mention that the games in this series are all going to be close with the pitching.....that makes it that much worse.

AJ would not have ran if the ump called him out. That was a smart play.

Paul should have tagged him or thrown to first. That was a dumb play. Catchers routinely throw to first on questionable balls. You are taught to never do what he did.

Bombs, if you are referring to me...no I have not played a lot of baseball. Played a lot of football at wide receiver (and you always know if you caught it or not) and the 2 years of little league baseball I played, I don't think I ever wore a catcher's glove.
So, I understand what your saying.
Maybe the catcher ****ed up a little. But it just looked so routine. He caught it, and tossed it to the mound.
If he thought it was close, he would have thrown it to 1st for easy out. Not 100% out, but about 98%.
Been 20 years since I played baseball LOL.

Funny, if he doesn't swing at that shit, he goes to first on a walk and same outcome, just no controversy. LOL.

Do you realize how hard it is for an ump at any position on the field to see if he caught that snow cone? YOU THROW TO FIRST.

Also, if the ump doesn't actually see it (bad angle), can he still say it didn't hit the ground.
Usually the ball clearly hits the ground, and a lot of times even rolls past the catcher or to the side.
Here, I don't think the ump clearly saw anything.
What does he do, other than look to the 1st/3rd umpire?

with all due respect, ill STRONGLY disagree here, because i played many years at wide receiver. you definitely do not always know if you caught it. in fact, every single sunday, there is always some total moron begging his coach to challenge a call on a ball that he clearly did not catch. he's running to the sideline making the emphatic "flag toss" gesture telling his coach "challenge it! challenge it!" ...... and then you watch the replay at its a no-brainer that the ball was trapped. and the coach ends up looking like an asshole because he wastes a time out because his wide receiver is an idiot and thinks he caught the ball.

baseball always seems to have some bizarre plays in post season, fans in wrigley, the kid glove in balt, ed armbrister, kiwi shoe polish, on and on ... when in doubt and a guy runs tag him or toss, dont assume ...

tough loss, but then again white sox idiot runner tries to come home with 2 pianos on his back and none out ...

that angel BP is a bitch

course i had angels, hehe

bad call after seeing the replay

but umps and baseball don't get replay. too bad it happened in such a big spot.

game still could go either way. the ump didn't do it on purpose.

its not like the angels were guaranteed to win the game anyway, but they still would have had a chance.

nobody seems to make a big deal about paul being in the game. He's an ex white soxer. No, jk about that conspiracy. But Scosscia traded defense for speed when he pinch ran for molina. that ended up burning him, but after replay it shouldn't have

again, sux the game ended like that, but that's baseball. baseball also takes care of its mistakes, so anaheim might get a close one or two in the next game. will it make a difference, who knows.

the nfl has refs huddle, and even the crooked nba does to. baseball has started too, but obviously not this time.

agree that its real hard for other umps to see on something that close. all i know is angel backers got a bad break, but they didnt' get robbed, theres been a million worse calls. this was close and hard to see. molina would have thrown that ball to first guaranteed. he's a veteran.

crappy way for a game to end. both teams actually deserved a win

Clearly, the ump is right here. It's a questionable call any way you look at it. There was no verbal out call. AND YOU CAN JUST TAG HIM AND GET IT OVER WITH.

I'll take your word for it. I've never had a pass thrown to me that I didn't know whether I caught it or not. Never.
The only exception might be whether I was in bounds or not, but what I'm talking about is whether I physically caught the ball before it hit the ground.
We can agree to disagree, but me personally, I always know 100% if I caught it or not.

Bombs - How do you know what the umpire said or didn't say? Or do you simply believe the Sox players who I am sure would admit it if the umpire called him out. There are alot of ifs, ands and buts, but it looked like he was called out - nothing else matters
