I own a small sportsbar, my wife and I and a couple of waitresses work it. This little place makes me a modest living. Part of my earnings is booking with my customers, nothing big, $50 max cash up front and winners to be paid immediately after the game. Over the years, I have found this to be good for business as most guys will stick around and spend a few bucks.

Anyway, last week I get a visit from a young customers mother. This guy is around 20 years old and he has been betting with me for about 6 months, I would say he is down about $500 to me. No big deal, right?

Wrong, his bitch mother storms in the bar with her younger boyfreind and accuses me of stealing his money, turn him into a drunk and encourage him to gamble. I assure you, I have not done neither.

I dont know what this kid told his mom, but they threatened to call the cops among other things. Now, I have a short fuse and I dont like being threatened so I tell them to get the fukk out. The boyfreind starts shooting his mouth off which gets me going even more and they are refusing to leave and making a scene.

What do you think happened next?
You guessed it, me and the boyfreind are brawling in the bar and a couple of regulars helped me out and put a nice beating on this guy.

I know I should have called the police, but damnit its my place. My wife was concerned because she feels these wackos have exaggerated the booking story to the police and portrayed me into the next Bugsy Segal. Its all quiet on the home front now as all this happened last week and no sign of this kid.

One more thing....NO MORE 20 YEAR OLD BETTORS ALLOWED!!!

book

this is none of my business, but I would stop taking any bets for awhile until it blows over. Maybe even a month or two.

You may get a few visits from ppl you don't know asking to wager.
Get my drift. Just because its quiet now does not mean its over.

Scott just beat me to it -- I was thinking the same thing. Be ready for a few new "customers" to come in inquring. Common sense should prevail here. Best of luck.

Time to play the, "I have no idea what you're talking about" role if new bettors come into play, b/c they probably reported you to the cops...

I have approx 50 guys that bet with me...all solid.
This kid was the lastest guy I took on and that was 6 months ago. But you are right, no newbies for a while.

Heaven, oh!!, this isn't it?!
KOD,
I think Bookie already got the $500 from the kid, as he took the bet and cash prior to the games

I would not allow any more gambling for a couple of months, Bookie. Even for the regulars, and tell them why........they will understand, and plus, they will be really pissed that they cant get "action" here. You would be surprised how that will influence these jerkoffs and consequently the police, if they have not already gone to them. :cursin:

Just cut everyone off cold turkey......then in about 2 mos. tell a few of the "close" regulars that you will take there bet, but wait until the March Madness. I know you are going to lose the Super Bowl this year, but is it worth it going to jail? :scared

GL Bookie.................

I think your biggest problem is serving to 20 year olds. Underage drinking citations are way stiffer than booking a few small bets. You will get shut down for underage if not careful.

good luck and hope it all turns out well for ya

You roamed the mean streets growing up, did ya?

Does gibber have a pay service? Wouldn't surprise me as the latest polls show that 64% of all posters here either have one or have had one in the past.
