Scott - I checked my high risk pool handbook - and I have bad news. GA is 1 of 5 states that does not have a program to help you. The one I was referring to, the "assignment" system, only applies to those folks that come from a self funded plan (typically large employers self fund their medical costs).

I'm sorry to say that my idea won't help you.

What we really need is a national high risk pool for individuals in situations such as yourself. I'm self employed also (and healthy), but I get group benefits through my wife's work.

Good luck....

FYI - The only "change you can believe in" are the ones that we make ourselves....

Don't count on the government to do it.......

Well I guess I was right about how health care has fawked me and many familys over for many years.

you and DTB owe me a apology.

you should also commit to me to vote for Obama in the next election , after her gets this passed when no other President in the history of America could do it.

I owe you nothing.

I was trying to help. My mistake.

Yea, I don't think I'll vote for "O". I want my kids to have a future - not pay the debt that he has caused with his spending agenda.

No thank you.

How did both you and wife come to not have insurance in the 1st place.

Had you had coverage previously they couldn't boot you off regardless of conditions--

Did you voluntarily drop it? or did you never have it--thinking you'd wait till you got sick to apply.

and per your--

"I dont really care as long as its affordable and comparable with DTBs. If he pays 3500 for full good coverage, they want me to pay 6800 for the same coverage. "

I see and if you had 10 dui's you want same rates as me--with no ticket in 28 years.

You live in ghetto where they torch neighborhood every time they get pissed and you want same homeowner rates as me in neighborhood thats never had a fire.

Yep I know--its not your fault. :)
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

on more constructive note.

I assume there is good chance you and wife might be self employed--considering not eligible for group. If I were you I'd look into one of you getting job as school bus driver part time. Only takes bout 3 hours a day for 9 months and they provide state group health benefits in GA.

You harp on not being covered-I'm just trying to find why you aren't.
Did you have coverage at one time and cancel it or never have coverage.

I'm sorry about your wife--but can guarantee you with absolute certainty--its not my fault so don't get on me. I make sure everyone in my household is covered. I could not sleep knowing I was exposed too such an enormous risk.

If I had to opt for no health ins or no homerowners it would be a no brainer--considering the odds and the potential loss.

Having a little tissy here in Bowling Green on Dr's wanting to raise fees and bad old ins co fighting to keep them stable to avoid premium increase. This goes on all the time. Negotiated rates make diff to consumer.
One example _if you have HSA or just a high deductible plan--Charges are $900 negotiated fee is $500 you save $400 despite not meeting deductible. Have EOB sitting on my desk where Charge was $3,856.00 approved $960. Saved the insured the difference.
