I've given up on stuff like this and just try and bet on the right side of the narrative and watch the "Disney movie" play out.
Texas gets up 20 and then forgets how to play football as K-State comes all the way back. Then held to a FG in OT...1st play easy pitch and catch and K-State is at I think the 6 yard line? 6 yards away from winning w 4 downs to get it. A few years ago when Snyder still there they were the master of the bullshit aiding the runner rule. They would literally get a little closer than that and then it was QB Sneak/Push several plays in a row.
Bama and LSU shootout first half but oh Saban, God himself, somehow figures it all out at halftime and LSU can't do shit 2nd half. How does that QB get that injured on the "late hit roughing QB"....the defender hits him not even one step after the throw, clean hit, and they throw a flag and the announcers are crying for targeting. That was every play back in the day, routine.
Hartman at ND is amazing when he wants to be. I've never seen him look so bad yesterday. Looked like Paul Crew in the 1st half against the Guards.
I made a bunch of money yesterday but what we're watching isn't football. Have you noticed that sometimes when guys get beat or are chasing a guy to the end zone they start flapping their arms. Maybe it's just to sell it more, I don't know. And I played WR and DB in high school (mostly bench but practiced every day) and a couple years of club ball in college, lots of flag and pickup, etc. I've never not once as a corner fallen down in my backpedal. But you see guys do that as they get beat.
I'm trying to enjoy Saturdays like I used to and sorry for the rant, I could go on....I totally agree w you. There's a rule in place that you can push from behind and it's 4th and less than a yard and they go shotgun. And they'll bunch everyone up too. They put 20 guys "in the box" and expect to gain yards up the middle. Just spread out the formation, go under center, put 2 RB's (or hell, lineman) behind and push his ass to an easy first down. I've said, why not have a backup QB who does nothing but take snaps in practice....get a big guy that can take snaps and make him your sneak guy, almost like a longsnapper. Develop it same way as Wildcat and make sure he can throw it just enough to keep them honest.
One more thing. Bobby Knight dies and then all 3 of his teams win. I didn't think of it til right before kickoff but I made $$$ off it at 27-1 plus both sides and both moneylines. Texas Tech, Indiana, and Army all won. Army an 18 point underdog gets 6 turnovers from a good QB who hadn't lost a game all year. Indiana an 8-point underdog and I don't know about Texas Tech. Seems fishy to me but I'll take the money. And believe me I feel ya on the sneaks. My reply is that no these coaches aren't that stupid and that they're doing it for a reason.
