Ol' boy prattling on right now with heartwrenching tales of how under the current program Mexicans have to risk their lives in brutal heat to sneak across our borders and how this must change. No kidding. WTF is going on???

Maybe they'll now want illegals to vote?
WTF is going on?

What is it with this g-damn appeasement to illegal immigrants?

This problem certainly isn't unique to the Bush admin, but man is he blatant about it. I really don't get it. He promises Fox that he'll get with Congress to pass some bills making immigration laws more lenient. And now today he's worried about the plight of that poor Mexican trying to illegally cross our border. (risking his life)

Not sure if it's clear, but those words from my last post were from W.

Trouble is, no matter who we vote for, the situation doesn't seem to change. That being said, they do take jobs that Americans won't do AT THOSE WAGES.

Ideally, I'd like to see the minimum wage higher, elimination of the EIC which drains from everyone, and better control of the borders so that any employment voids can be filled through legal immigration.

As for the whining about how higher wages hurt companies and make super rich slightly less rich - well tough shlt. We can't have it both ways. If we are going to attack this border problem, then we need to be ready to offer better working environments for the lowest levels. Otherwise, we'll have a terrible underemployment situation.

Kosar - thanks fpr quoting me. Finally, I get some reckunishin up in this pushizzle.

None of these politicians on either side of the aisle want to solve this problem. Just like no previous admin wanted to solve this problem.

But if we're going to keep on with the post 9/11 'homeland security' theme, well, this just seems bizarre.

Bush wants Arabs to run our ports and Mexicans dominate the population.

I'm sorry - but even the worst case alternatives of "Skerry" and Gore would be better than this joke in the oval office.

Has Bush done ONE THING RIGHT? Just one legitimate slam dunk correct move? Anyone?

At least Clinton reformed welfare and ran a surplus budget. Conservatives have to like that. On paper Clinton is a neocon compared to our Arab leader Bush.

Funny, I was thinking about this. At some point, soon, conservatives are going to have to highlight some of their accomplishments to try to hold on to their majority. I think it's gonna be a pretty tough sell, especially to the undecideds, or disgruntled voters out there. Maybe I'm wrong.

What HAS Bush, the administration, and the House/Senate accomplished during his tenure? Many times, things come down to - what have you done for me here in my district...how is my life doing right now? Interesting topic, probably worthy of its own thread.

the appeasement is to their employers. of course bush doesnt actually care about the immigrants themselves.

Bush said it himself when addressing his gawdawful rich friends.."Some people call you the haves and have mores,....I call you my base."

here is an interesting article on last weekend's marches.........

here is an interesting article on last weekend's marches.........

have to admit...i was surprised how organized the marches were.....now it makes sense to me....

Spanish Media Organized Nationwide Mass Protests

(AP) LOS ANGELES The marching orders were clear: Carry American flags and pack the kids, pick up your trash and wear white for peace and for effect.

Many of the 500,000 people who crammed downtown Los Angeles on Saturday to protest legislation that would make criminals out of illegal immigrants learned where, when and even how to demonstrate from the Spanish-language media.

For English-speaking America, the mass protests in Los Angeles and other U.S. cities over the past few days have been surprising for their size and seeming spontaneity.

But they were organized, promoted or publicized for weeks by Spanish-language radio hosts and TV anchors as a demonstration of Hispanic pride and power.

In Milwaukee, where at least 10,000 people rallied last week, one radio station manager called some employers to ask that they not fire protesters for skipping work. In Chicago, a demonstration that drew 100,000 people received coverage on local television more than a week in advance.

"This was a much bigger story for the Latino media," said Felix Gutierrez, a professor at the University of Southern California's Annenberg School for Communication. "If the mainstream media had been paying better attention, there would not have been the surprise about the turnout."

Adrian Velasco first learned of House legislation to overhaul immigration policy on Los Angeles' Que Buena 105.5 FM. Over two weeks, the 30-year-old illegal immigrant soaked up details about the planned march against the bill from Hispanic TV and radio. On Saturday, he and three friends headed downtown.

"They told all the Hispanic people to go and support these things," Velasco said. "They explained a lot. They said, 'Here's what we're going to do."'

One of those doing the most talking was El Piolin, a syndicated morning show radio host who is broadcast in 20 cities.

El Piolin, whose real name is Eduardo Sotelo and whose nickname means "Tweety Bird," persuaded colleagues from 11 Spanish-language radio stations in Los Angeles to talk up the rally on air.

He said he devised the idea of telling protesters to wear white and carry flags to symbolize their peaceful intent and love of the United States. He also urged parents to bring their children to minimize chances of violence and reminded everyone to bring plenty of water and trash bags.

"I was talking about how we need to be united to demonstrate that we're not bad guys and we're not criminals," said Sotelo, 35, who crossed into the United States as a teenager and became legal in 1996.

In Milwaukee, the Spanish-language station WDDW 104.7 made a point of publicizing the House legislation and the protest against it on its morning and drive-time shows two weeks ahead of time.

Operations manager Armando Ulloa said his goal was at least 10,000 people -- and police estimated that was what the rally attracted. After the march, Ulloa said, he called some employers and asked them to be lenient on protesters who missed their shifts.

In Los Angeles, 10 prime-time Spanish-language news anchors filmed a promotion urging demonstrators to show respect, said Julio Cesar Ortiz, a television reporter who covers immigration.

"The Spanish media said, 'Do it in a proper way. Do it in a way where's there's pride behind it when you're done,"' Ortiz said.

Telemundo Chicago, a Spanish-language TV station, began its coverage blitz 1 1/2 weeks before a recent rally, though there was no urging that viewers attend, said news director Esteban Creste.

"We just told them what was going on," Creste said. "While we were not trying to mobilize people, it might have prompted people to decide to go there."

The protests continued Tuesday in at least four states, with thousands of students leaving school again in California, Arizona, Texas and Nevada.

In Los Angeles, the numbers were far smaller than the tens of thousands who marched Monday. Authorities thwarted efforts to block freeway traffic, rounding up some youngsters and issuing truancy citations.

In Phoenix, students marched to the state Capitol for the second day in a row. In Las Vegas, they rallied near the Strip after being directed away from casinos.

And in Dallas, students crowded in front of City Hall, waving Mexican and Salvadoran flags and shouting "We can do it" in Spanish.

The protests jammed roads. A Dallas school district spokesman said a girl's hand was severed when the sport utility vehicle she was in sped into an intersection and overturned.

I believe they fought for it--something you won't understand--
"Remember the Alamo"

Has Bush done anything right?? Haven't heard anyone harp on economy--employment ect since I don't know when--without going in to detail--if Halburton (which we settled yesterday --till next time) and WMD's have been liberals focal point of late he must be doing something right--and then theres the war--I guess retaliating is wrong to some and they still think doing nothing and issueing get out jail free card to UBL was the correct solution.
Would say Medicare expenditure was huge mistake--otherwise can't see many complaints from working class/investors/business owners and tax payors.

--and speaking of working class-- I gonna have to get on Oreilly for stealing my comparison of french socialists and liberals in U.S. :)

Working the French Way...

Wednesday, March 29, 2006

By Bill O'Reilly

Thousands of French, mostly young, demonstrated in Paris on Tuesday demanding the government withdraw a law that would allow French companies to fire workers under the age of 26 who have less than two years on the job. The demonstrators apparently believe that an employer should not have the right to dismiss anyone. That's a common attitude in France today.

Now, as you may know, "The Factor" is boycotting France because I believe President Chirac is anti-American and helped Saddam Hussein stay in power. All the hard evidence says I'm right. Chirac's attitude and the anti-Americanism that is rife in the French press stems from the fact that France and the USA have drastically different worldviews. France is an entitlement state with guaranteed wages, jobs, retirement, health benefits, five-weeks vacation, retirement, on and on and on.

With life guarantee for the French, there is little incentive for individuals to work hard or push creative boundaries. Thus the French economy is stagnant. Which is why the government wants to allow companies to fire folks. Right now, employers don't hire many people because they can't get rid of them, no matter how horrendous their work is. Unemployment among French young people stands at whopping 22 percent.

Now, to be totally honest, I don't give a hoot about the French economy -- obviously, I'm leading the boycott. I like France. A fascinating place to visit, but as long as Chirac is in charge, I'm not going.

The intriguing question is will the USA become like France? The far left here loves the entitlement culture, loves what France has become. When you hear far-left Americans use the terms "economic justice" or "income inequality," you should know these are code words for socialism, a giant government that would guarantee each American a house, health care, nice wage, retirement benefits, the usual entitlement list. Europe has embraced that system. The USA has not. And that angers radical-left Americans.

The French demonstrations have sent a signal to the world that a once free marketplace country has gone over to the entitlement side. They want no uncertainty. They want security. Of course, somebody has to pay for that security, and France can't. The government will soon run out of money as the population ages. The French system will collapse, just wait and see. That should be a lesson for us all.

That's "The Memo."

France. ....uh OK, whatever, Dogs.

Did we get UBL? Not something you can be bragging about. If Iraq was retaliation, then may I ask retaliation for what?

How do you feel about Bush's lax border policy? You approve?

Theodore Roosevelt?s ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907.

?In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person?s becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American? There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn?t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag? We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language? and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.?

So Nieve, Dr Freeze

So Nieve, Dr Freeze

We are not a Country under rule of law. Washington, Jefferson and Adams have nothing to do with it. You are right about 1 thing, yes we are getting it handed to us as this government stands by. The people with the money and power have orchestrated this and it's every man for himself. The rule of law that you talk about does not exists for those with money and power so there is no law. There are many Americans that don't even know that this protest took place, at least these people are willing to fight for their piece of America. These two parties will not protect you from yourself. America is up for grabs, if you want your slice you are going to have to get it the old fashion way. I know it's scary for those who feel entitled but thats the way it is.

The people like the good Dr that talk about foreign nationals are scared ,we have to think about where most of our fathers and grandfathers have come from. These foreign nationals might be the patriots that save America and turn it back over to the people. America is big enough for all if we get back to being America. Our leaders squander our resources and give us a reason to place blame in other places while they take our wealth out the back door. Immigration is not the biggest problem we face, not even close.
