I somewhat agree with yyz. I think the MVP should be the player that is more important to his team then any other player in the league, but its never voted on that way. Its always been a statistical award. I do however think that Faulk should have won the award because if he were out of the Rams line-up for the season they probably would have lost 6 + games.(I know he missed 2 games but thats not like missing the entire season) I can't say the same for Warner. Faulk does it all(including Block) and gets in the endzone consistently. He's the best player in the game and should have been MVP.
My MVP top 3
1)Faulk
2)Kordell- They would have won 6 games without him.
3)Favre

Playing devil's advocate here a little. But how about the Brady kid in New England?

More times than not, the MVP goes to an offensive player.
Is Farve deserving? Sure. Warner? Sure. Garcia played better this year too.
There will always be debates on who is best and who is most deserving.
Maybe Farve's previous 3-time MVP gave the sympathetic vote to Warner.

Just my $.02

Faulk should have gotten it! Warner is so overrated it's sickening. If farve played on that team they would be even better. For god sake Trent Green put up numbers with the Rams!!! I think we saw this year how godawful that fool is. Do not put Warner in Farve's class until he can prove that he can do it without the best weapons in the game, and outside out of that dome. There is a reason he was sacking groceries 5 years ago. I defy any of you to give me another Qb that has ever had the weapons that warner has. Not to mention he plays 10 freaking games inside!!! He is a joke.:thefinger

I was going to post about Warner until I read this post. I couldn't have said it better Smash! You are 110% correct! I don't even see how a true football fan that is unbiased can even think about arguing! :)

This is a very good thread. Good points made by everyone. Does anyone know the last time a defensive player has won the MVP? I can't seem to remember.

Warner is overrated? I think this is about the funniest thing I have ever seen. Have you ever watched him throw during the game. He is the most accurate passer I have ever watched. He stays in the pocket until the very last minute and takes every hard hit the defense has to offer. Yes, his numbers are inflated a bit because of the weapons he has at his expense. Regardless of that fact, you put him on any other competitive team and he makes them more potent than any other QB could make them, maybe even Favre. By the way, I have seen Favre play several times this year and he hasn't been nearly as impressive as Kurt Warner has. Favre is a cut above most QBs in the league, but Warner is a cut above Favre. If you're going to say Warner is overrated, you have to say the same thing about Favre. His reputation carries him and seems to be an excuse for him every time he has a piss poor game.

Warner, while he has many offensive threats to choose from, he is not the first.
Bradshaw had Stallworth, Swann, Blair, Harris, Cunningham.
Montana had Craig, Clark, Rice, Taylor.

Bluegrass!
Seems as though Troy Aikman had a similiar type of situation like Mr. Warner. Claiming that he's a joke, just shows how ignorant you are about the game of football. The dome comment is amazingly dumber than your 1st coment. I don't think many will agree with your observation of Warner being a puzzy b/c he plays in a dome!

There is a reason he was sacking groceries 5 years ago

Which makes his accompishments that much more amazing. Thanks for proving my point....

Being a life-long Steelers fan, I can remember when ignorant, know-nothings bad-mouthed Bradshaw-- AFTER he had won a couple of Super Bowls. The man is now in the Hall of Fame-- which is the same place you'll find Kurt Warner in about 10 years or so. Thanks for the laughs Smashmouth.

Smashmouth-- name me one other QB thats in the NFL today that will join Farve and Warner in the Hall of Fame when their careers are over. Thats right-- you can't, because right now there aren't any others than the two I've mentioned....

Dragon,
You said "He stays in the pocket until the very last minute and takes every hard hit the defense has to offer"

That is hilarious. I don't think I've seen Warner actually get HIT HARD the entire year. If you do get to him he falls apart like a soggy cookie:) Try to think back about his performances where he had pressure this year. He sucked, always has. If you can't get to him, he'll hurt you. He has multiple people WIDE open 90% of the time. Give almost any QB in the league the same setup he "inherited" and they'd be MVP's too. Sorry, I get tired of hearing about the overrated guy.

End of rant:)
