I'm sorry Gary, but I don't get the comment or correlation?

You and I have always had a joking, easy going relationship, and politics is politics. Check your diaper? YYZ, now that is a completely different story. He jabs anyone and everyone no matter what thread, we are all dumbasses and he is king. You on the other hand are just politics which is fun. And a damn good golfer and fun to play with, although we have not been in same foursome last two events. Maybe sometime.

You're acting like a baby.

Nobody ever said the PREDICT ant PRT would make this pandemic go away. It won't go away "poof" once they are re-established. The point was someone put safeguards in place and someone else got rid of them before they could help. Now the situation is out of control and your approach is to crap on anyone that thinks the programs that were designed to prevent this craziness would have helped.

Fauci says small gatherings driving Covid outbreaks, worries about Thanksgiving
Sara G. Miller 23 hrs ago

By Sara G. Miller

Small indoor gatherings of families and friends are driving coronavirus outbreaks across the country ? and that has worrying implications for Thanksgiving, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation?s top infectious disease expert, said Wednesday.

"You don't want to be the Grinch that stole the holidays," Fauci, who is director of the National Institutes of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said in a livestreamed interview with Dr. Howard Bauchner, editor of the Journal of the American Medical Association.

But as families plan for the coming festivities, they need to consider the risks of a gathering.

Coronavirus cases in the United States have reached new highs in recent days, with daily cases averaging around 70,000. The new surge doesn't bode well for the upcoming holiday season.

"We're going into a precarious situation," Fauci said. Cold weather is forcing people indoors, cases are going up in all age groups, and holidays are likely to bring people together in groups ? a combination he called "a bad recipe for a tough time ahead."

Fauci noted that many infections are currently spread in small gatherings in people's homes.

"You get one person who's asymptomatic and infected, and then all of a sudden, four or five people in that gathering are infected," he said. "To me, that's the exact scenario that you're going to see on Thanksgiving."

Fauci added that it doesn't mean everyone across the country should call off Thanksgiving.

"But if you are in a situation where you have people who are vulnerable and you really want to be safe with them, you might want to not bring them together into a big dinner, or a big gathering where you have the possibility of a high risk of infection," he said.

Older adults and people with underlying health conditions are particularly at risk. "You want to take a couple of steps back and say, 'Is it worth it for this year to bring those people together when you don't know what the status of everybody in that pod that you've created is?'" Fauci said.

Covid-19 Live Updates: The U.S. Hits the 9-Million Mark as Infections Keep Surging
Some public health experts are backing Biden?s ?national mask mandate? idea. The virus is threatening to bring Europe?s health care systems to the brink of collapse.

https://www.nytimes.com/live/2020/10/29/world/covid-19-coronavirus-updates

With daily reports of coronavirus cases in the United States surging to previously unseen heights, averaging more than 75,000 a day over the last week, the country on Thursday crossed the threshold of nine million known infections since the pandemic began.

More total cases have been identified in the United States than in any other country, though some nations have had more cases in proportion to their populations.

?There is no way to sugarcoat it: We are facing an urgent crisis, and there is an imminent risk to you, your family members, your friends, your neighbors,? said Gov. Tony Evers of Wisconsin.

More than 200 coronavirus deaths have been announced over the last week in Wisconsin, and as case numbers explode, hospitals have been under increasing strain.
Wisconsin, home to eight of the country?s 15 metro areas with the highest rates of recent cases, was among the first states to lose control of the virus this fall. But the surge that started in the Upper Midwest and rural West has now spread far beyond, sending infection levels soaring in places as disparate as El Paso, Chicago and Rexburg, Idaho.

Idaho?s governor, Brad Little, this week imposed new restrictions on businesses and gatherings. ?Hospitals throughout the state are quickly filling up or are already full with Covid-19 patients and other patients, and way too many health care workers are out sick with Covid-19,? Mr. Little said.

Twenty-one states added more cases in the seven-day period ending Wednesday than in any other seven-day stretch of the pandemic against a backdrop of a bitter presidential contest.

President Trump, in the closing days of his campaign, has assured voters that the virus is vanishing, brushing aside the devastation it has wrought and even mocking people who take precautions ? including measures his own health advisers recommend ? to slow the spread of the disease.

Daily reports of deaths from the virus remain far below their spring peaks, averaging around 780 a day. But those, too, have started to tick upward.

There are not many hopeful signs in the recent data.

Reports of new cases are increasing in 42 states. Northeastern states, including New Jersey and Rhode Island, are seeing infection numbers rise after months of stability. And in North Dakota, where more than 5 percent of the population has now tested positive ? the biggest share of any state ? as reports of new cases continue to soar.

Coronavirus updates: US reports more than 90K new cases in a day, yet COVID-19 is not top issue for Americans
Lindsay Schnell

USA TODAY

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...nsin-record-cases-europe-lockdown/6140388002/

Many signs suggest a fall surge may be in full swing as the United States reports more than 90,000 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday for the second time since the onset of the pandemic.

While 21 states set records for new cases in a week, CNN exit polls suggest COVID-19 isn't a top issue for Americans this election year, with only 1 in 6 voters citing the pandemic as most important to their vote. In comparison, one-third of voters named the economy as their most critical issue and 1 in 5 cited racial equality.

Ballots continue to be counted in one of the election's most contested states, Wisconsin, where health officials reported a record 5,771 new cases and 52 more deaths. In addition to being a battleground state, Wisconsin has also been one of the nation's COVID-19 hotspots the last few weeks, and officials are concerned about a 44% average rise in daily cases. See live election results here.

Here's what to know today:

Across the Atlantic, new restrictions are in place in Austria, Greece and Sweden. Germany imposed a partial shutdown Monday, with Italy, France, Kosovo and Croatia also implementing tighter measures. England is scheduled to go back into lockdown on Thursday, though schools and universities are expected to stay open.

A Republican candidate for state legislature in North Dakota, who died Oct. 5 after he had been sick with COVID-19, won a seat as state representative for District 8 on Tuesday.

The group that represents cruise lines with 95% of global ocean-going capacity said Tuesday that its members have agreed to extend the suspension of U.S. sailing operations for the rest of 2020.

Today's numbers: The U.S. has reported more than 9.4 million cases and 233,300 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University data. The global totals: more than 47.9 million cases and 1.22 million deaths.

Texas hits 1 million Covid-19 cases, the most in the nation
In other coronavirus news: Cuomo boosts National Guard at airports to enforce N.Y. quarantine, doomed Danish minks, and the NBA wants fans in the stands.

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/texas-poised-hit-1-million-covid-19-cases-most-nation-n1246783

By Nigel Chiwaya and Corky Siemaszko

While the nation was focused Friday on the presidential election, Texas was quietly closing in on its 1 millionth case of Covid-19.

There were 1,000,589 confirmed cases on the books late Friday night, the latest NBC News figures showed.

Texas eclipsed California, which currently has 960,361 cases, for the lead in this sad category last month. But both states have seen a surge of new cases in the past two weeks.
