jax st -9: on paper this one doesn't look close. these two birmingham schools use to be rivals back in the day when they were both old socon members. since then, under coach ray harper jax st has moved on to become one of the top teams in the ohio valley conference, and is picked to finish third in preseason polls behind perennial powers belmont and murrray st. meanwhile, sanford is picked to finish near the bottom of the southern conference this year, with no returning starters. we may be getting a bit of a line break as samford opened their season this week with a 20 point win over northern alabama, a former division II school playing its first year of division I basketball. looks like a rout to me.

stanford -3: like this one also. both teams picked to finish 5th in their conference preseason polls, but theres a bit of a power difference betwenn the caa and the pac 12. uncw is still in a bit of a rebuilding mode under first year head coach cb mcgrath, and still feeling the aftershocks since their former coack kevin keatts led them to two caa titles then left for nc state. stanford returns four starters, including last year's pac 12 scoring leader reid travis.

Will tail you on these. You probably knew this but Reid Travis starts for Kentucky.
I thought State had a terrible game plan last night. Even though receivers dropped several passes I could not understand why they kept trying to run the ball.
Finley did not try throwing many long passes and the tight end was hardly used.
Hate it for the Pack. They had a chance to have one of their best years ever.

Jax St now -7.5 and Stanford -4.5.
Any idea of what to expect from Elon this year?

hey lowell - yes ive already been razzed about the reid travis remark above by a buddy of mine that read this post. i blanked on his transfer to kentucky this morning, but i still believe stanford handles the seahawks fairly easily. not too sure about elon, i don't keep up with them as much since they left the southern conference. i think i read where the preseaon rankings put them at 8th in the caa.

All things considered, I thought the Stanford line seemed silly when I saw it. All morning I'm thinking what does Vegas see in UNCW, they're a far cry from the recent tourney team

They sure aren?t making much of a 2nd half push. Glad I sat it out.
