Why is this bum not resigning from the Senate IMMEDIATELY???

Why are fellow democrats not asking for his head???

Surely, if a Republican had the nerve to insult every American in the military and those of us who have friends and family in the military WE WOULD CALL FOR HIS IMMEDIATE RESIGNATION!!!!

The Dem's had a victory written in stone one week from today and John Kerry may have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory and these lefties are STILL backing him and not calling for his resignation.

IF the democrats had any nuts whatsoever, they would get rid of this bastard and in doing so, they would sweep the country with victory this year winning the house by 20 seats.

Case in point -- coworker of mine -- socially moderate-liberal, fiscally conservative.....was pretty much a lock for democrat....HOWEVER she has 2 brothers with undergraduate education as well as specialized training and are in Iraq....NOW SHE IS INCENSED AT THIS BASTARD!!!!

Where is the democrat outrage???? WHERE IS IT????

This bum has GOT to go.

First, he says what he said after Vietnam.

Then, he calls our troops terrorizing women and children in Iraq pre-2004.

Now, he is basically inferring they are lazy and stupid.

GET HIM OUT!!!!

:nono: :nono: :nono: :nono: :nono:

After hearing and reading Senator John Kerry?s so-called insult to our military men and women, I needed a moment to understand what the flap is all about. Then I remembered the scope of the Republican spin machine.

This administration has consistently lowballed the intelligence of the American people, and the Republican Party seems optimistic that this latest uproar will drown out the tolling of the bells. Let?s hope that the American voters can see through the smoke.

Yes, Senator Kerry referred to the need to make the most of one?s education (study hard, do the homework, make an effort to be smart) to avoid getting stuck in disastrous situations like Iraq.

He was clearly speaking about George W. Bush.

To the Editor:

How do we get Senator John Kerry to recognize that this election is not about him and George W. Bush again?

Senator Kerry?s puerile comments about the president?s study habits and their results have endangered the Democrats? chances of retaking the House and the country?s chances of getting some accountability in Washington.

He appears to be as much of a danger to Democrats as President Bush and Karl Rove, perhaps combined. Somebody needs to give him the hook.

To the Editor:

While John Kerry?s initial usage of words was careless, his message and especially his subsequent response to Republican critics was anything but.

Senator Kerry is a legitimate war hero, whose criticism of the war on returning from Vietnam was also a heroic act. His bond with those who serve our country is strong and true.

Can anyone seriously doubt that he would not defend his fellow soldiers, to the death, even now?

Shame deservedly falls not on him but on those who, with carelessness beyond belief, have sent nearly 3,000 of our fighting men and women and many more Iraqi citizens to their deaths, with no expression of regret.

I am proud of John Kerry for having found his voice to speak out against this debacle, as he and timid fellow Democrats should have done a long time ago.

His response eloquently and rightly lays the blame for the betrayal of our troops on those truly responsible.

To the Editor:

John Kerry?s ?botched joke? is just what it is (?As Vote Nears, Stances on War Set Off Sparks,? front page, Nov. 1).

But if the senator put his foot in his mouth, the fact is that the ultimate insulting and shameful suggestion belongs to the White House when our commander in chief manipulated the minds of Americans for the reason to go to war in Iraq.

Where is President Bush?s apology for the loss of more than 2,800 American lives?

For those of you who have only read the comment, or heard it on radio, I suggest trying to watch the video clip on it. I have a different opinion about it, after watching it. Kerry clearly got lost in his thought, he was speaking, then in the middle of the comment, he looked down to read from notes or his script, seemed to be searching for the comment in the notes, started again, and just kind of rushed through the rest of it.

I am not defending his topic or messing around with the idea at all. I've already criticized him for the foulup. But after watching it I feel even more strongly that he did screw it up, and was not speaking specifically about troops being stupid. I know that's what some here (and the right wing mouthpieces are blaring full-force now) are hanging their political hat on, but it just doesn't add up to me.

I do, however, wish that he would continue to shut up. He has done some measurable damage to the party, no doubt.

Lets see Kerry botched a joke and our current administration from bush to cheney to rumsfeld has botched every thing they have done. It amazes me how people can defend this administration.

Rumsfeld should have been fired years ago but Bush announces that he will be with him thru 08. Basically these vulcans have been running this presidency and getting rich off of thousands of dead US troops, but yet people get more up in arms about Kerry's inability to make a joke.

Good post. I heard about it right when it happened on internet news sites, but didn't see the actual footage until much later. I came to the same conclusion. Although I don't think it takes a whole lot of common sense to realize that, as Kerryesque as the excuse may have sounded, it really WAS just a "botched joke."

I mean can anyone honestly think that a military vet that actually served in a foriegn war AND has (or I guess had, after this) presidential aspirations for 2008 would really say something like that in public and mean it? Yes, it was stupid and yes, he needs to shut the f*ck up and go away, but come on....

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

What fanny/pocket protector packin clown wrote this to the editor.:142smilie

I don't believe moveon.org could put that up without choking.

and for the life of me I can't figure how people can play tape over and over and come to conclusion it was a botched joke--was he smiling when/after he said it? and if it was I guess they were also botched jokes when he said our troops were terrorizing civlians or referring to troops in nam as Ghengis Khan--more botched jokes.

---and by the way--just how many times has "kerry" visited iraq since the war?????
Apparently Hiliary is the one with a pair of nuts!

Not sure where all this education is coming from. The NG maybe. Or the schooling made available to service men on active duty. It's sure better for them then 40 years ago.
But then you see that sign from Iraq To Kerry. With all the miss spelling and you have to wonder.
I bet that was a joke?

Chad agree it shows there are folks that can laugh about a subject and get their joke out. Then their are those who should never try to tell a joke. They will screw it up every time. And there are those when that happens just waiting to make more out of it then there is.

It is apparent by the video, he was taking a shot at Bush and his lack of education (or perceived lack). He should leave the jokes to Bill Maher and Jon Stewart.

Of course, the Republican spin doctors led by Goebbels (Rove) have spun this into an anti-troop statement (not) and those uniformed Rednecks and lemmings who believe everything told to them by the spin doctors, ate it up.

One can only be elated when the elections are over and we can get away from this crap (or at least a little removed).

I, for one, can't believe the bitterness, diviseness and outright contempt the parties and their followers show to each other.

What ever happened to the spirit of compromise and like mindeness (belief in the American ideal)that permeated this country for over 200 years??

That ended when the GOP couldn't handle the fact that Clinton was a popular and effective president. Their unneccesary crusade to destroy him started the ball of hate that's now out of control.

It may have started when we lost the other superpower as well. The 2 biggest powers in the world became our two main parties. Maybe it was innevitable that they'd start going at each other like this.

Hey dumbass, I hadn't even seen one reaction from any politician when I started that thread condemning his remarks. I form my own thoughts and opinions. Try it sometime.

There is ample evidence, besides this remark, of Kerry's disdain for our troops and I don't give a f*ck that he was in the service.

Could you kindly show me this ample evidence? To think he has disdain for the troops might be even more silly than when you got sucked into the right wing slime machine. I hear tomato juice can get that slime out. Ketchup to. Try Heinz

My opinion was three seconds after i heard it. Remember i was calling you guys nitwits for being sucked in. This was before any newscast said anything about this being a joke. That my friend is called my own opinion. Which happen to be dead on.

First of all, his dubious claims of torture and murder by our troops that he never witnessed. Right after he got back. He spoke out against the war, which I applaud, but his wild, unseen claims of massive abuse only caused all Vietnam vets to have a much more rough go of it.

In 1972 (I think-but right around there) when he was running for senate, he was opposed to an all volunteer army because it would only draw 'criminals and the uneducated.' (somewhat paraphrasing, but look it up, it's a lot worse than what I wrote). Sound familiar?

A couple years ago when he said that our troops were 'terrorizing' Iraqi women and children in the middle of the night. WTF is THAT?

You agree with these comments, Sponge?

And yeah, I got sucked into the Republican 'slime machine.'

Brilliant observation.
