Coach Gard grabs Howards arm, and puts a hand on his chest to stop him from walking by. Then words are exchanged and both coaches are poking and pointing fingers. But it was settling until the assistant butted in and escalated things. You can see the MICH players reacting to what he is saying, and then Howard reaches to slap him. You really think there wasn't some racial slurs being tossed about there??? YES... I'm a HUGE MICHIGAN fan and I agree Coach Howard needs to be reprimanded, but to act like he's just a thug, that he started this is disingenuous at best, or in plainer terms, complete BULLSHIT. :shrug:

Also, nobody mentions how many WISC players are in the Michigan bench area... Michigan is holding their "line" but WI players are the ones taunting, threatening, pursuing, don't get it twisted. :SIB

It was recorded on video by a close by reporter. He was not the one who instigated contact, that would be the WISC coach. But because it was on National TV and in front of the cameras, he probably thought he could get away with touching Howard to show his players how manly he was... how he had their back. Pricks that continue to press/foul/go for steals down 15 with 20 seconds left deserve to see timeouts called....too bad the Wisconsin coach didn't put the starters back in, get across half court, call another timeout and diagram a last second play.

just my 2 cents... it's simple really.

What's the nature of the competition? Do tennis players with a big lead stop trying to score points?
Golfers stop trying to make putts w/a big lead?
Bowlers stop trying to knock down pins?

I'm a believer in playing out the clock... I'm not gonna keep my starters in to run up the score, but if my subs can do it then I'm okay with it.
If I'm way ahead and I've got subs in the game, I want them to run the offense and shoot the ball, try to score.

I Hate when a coach sticks in his subs (that hardly ever play) and demands they just hold the ball and run out the clock... give em a chance to PLAY basketball.. that means shooting and trying to score!

IF my team is behind by a lot, then I'm going to play defense and try to steal.. make my players work and eventually put in subs and have them press and try to steal and try to score... until the clock runs out.

and I'd definitely let my philosophy be known by whoever we're playing.. Play out the game.

I also hate how the game has turned into some teams standing around letting 30 secs run off while defense just stands there not pressuring... play the game. Put in subs to let THEM play the game.

If subs are getting trapped and turning the ball over in the last 30 seconds, so be it. We've got a big lead, and we ARE PLAYING the game... we'll still be ahead w/a turnover score.

DON'T BLAME the other teams subs for trying to play the game and score points... THAT's Why They Play!

Take your stuffy shirts off and stop looking at everything as "he's disrespecting me/our program".. BS!


The ONly time I get upset with the other coach is IF he's allowing/encouraging dirty play by his players.
Scoring-wise, if they run it up then it's BECAUSE MY TEAM ISN't Good Enough to Stop em.
What goes around will eventually come around, and I won't have My team sitting on the ball w/a 20 point lead..
Run the offense, try to score.. Play the Game.


Coaches behavior AFter the game is inexcusable... NEVer allowed to get physical w/another coach.

Has Mich been happy w/Coach Howard? Has he been an outstanding role model until this? I don't know...
THAT factors in to whether I suspend him or terminate him...

But he at LEast gets suspension.

Timeout being called is a dick move. True story. Both coaches are at fault. I have never thought Howard a ?thug?. He is emotional though and a competitor. Most people in that same situation would have had a heated discussion.

I doubt a racial slur was said unless the opposing coach is a complete imbecile which he is not. Most of his players are black. If he was a racist, it would have come out long ago. However, it?s quite apparent that Several guys here wouldn?t want Howard dating their daughters though; that?s quite obvious :0corn
