Jussie Smollett told Chicago police he had fought off a pair of attackers who targeted him in an apparent hate crime, Cook County State?s Attorney Kim Foxx tried to persuade Police Supt. Eddie Johnson to turn the investigation over to the FBI.
Foxx?s call came after an influential supporter of the ?Empire? actor reached out to Foxx personally: Tina Tchen, a Chicago attorney and former chief of staff for Michelle Obama, according to emails and text messages provided to the Chicago Sun-Times in response to a public records request.
Tchen passed Foxx?s number to a relative of the actor, and the conversations with the family member were cited by Foxx last month as the reason she recused herself from Smollett?s prosecution as the actor faces disorderly conduct charges for allegedly making a false police report.
Text messages show Tchen contacted Foxx on Feb. 1, three days after Smollett said he was jumped by two men as he walked home from a sandwich shop near his Streeterville home. Tchen texted Foxx to set up an early morning phone call.
?I wanted to give you a call on behalf of Jussie Smollett and family who I know. They have concerns about the investigation,? Tchen wrote in a text sent before 5 a.m., seeking to set up a call with Foxx before Tchen left on an 8 a.m. flight to New York.
A few hours later, Foxx received a text from a relative of Smollett, who said she?d received the number from Tchen.
In an interview, Foxx said that the family member expressed concerns about leaked information about the investigation ? information that media outlets attributed to ?police sources.?
?They had no doubt about the quality of the investigation, but believed that the FBI would have a tighter lid on information,? said Foxx.

The Daily Mail contradicts the timeline - according to them, it was the next day - well before any information had come out of the police dept. In other words, he was trying to raise the profile of the hoax from the time he sent himself the Tylenol letter, through the arrest. And contacting the former potus flotus was part of his attempt at raising the profile of a racist hoax to fuel anti-white hatred.

Roseanne Barr was fired from the Roseanne reboot in May 2018 following a tweet about Valerie Jarrett, senior adviser to former U.S. president Barack Obama ? but she?s now placing the blame for her termination on former U.S. first lady Michelle Obama and former ABC programming chief Channing Dungey.
In May 2018, when the Roseanne reboot was hailed as the highest-rated sitcom on TV after its first season, Barr tweeted a comment ? which has since been deleted ? about Jarrett. (It can be seen in a screengrab below.)
Barr attempted to apologize, claiming that it was a ?bad joke? and that the tweet was a result of her ?inebriated condition? caused by mixing Ambien and a ?couple of beers.?
Now, the disgraced comedian claims that she was really fired because the former first lady went to Dungey and asked her to let the actress go.
?(Michelle Obama) said: ?This tweet is unforgivable.? That?s what I was told, and I tend to believe it because the woman who fired me is now working with the Obamas at Netflix,? Barr told British newspaper The Times of London.
The Obamas have signed a ?multi-year agreement to produce films and series? with Netflix, and Dungey, who left ABC in December 2018, has moved to Netflix as vice-president of original content.

Barr acknowledged that she wished she hadn?t posted the tweet about Jarrett, but she argued that her comments were taken the wrong way.
?Of course, I?ve apologized because this was an insensitive comment, but really its damage was in the way it was perceived,? she said. ?I can?t be responsible for the way people perceive things. People have always done this to me. They don?t get me
She continued: ?I don?t just like to make people laugh. I like to (tick) them off and make them think, too. I?m a provocateur? It?s like the PC police. It?s about mind control. Everyone in America is under mind control from television, except for my show ? that?s why they got rid of it.?
?I should have written it backwards,? she said of her Jarrett tweet. ?It came out dyslexic. It should have been, ?Valerie Jarrett?s ties to the Muslim Brotherhood have now allowed Iran?s government to remain, as in the movie Planet of the Apes.?
Barr said that ABC threatened her right to free speech by firing her. She called the network ?total Stalinist censorship.? Barr shared that ABC told her if she did ?one more thing they don?t like, they?ll remove (Roseanne) reruns forever.?

She said that ABC only wants ?pliable servants.
?I?m not that. I?m not a slave,? Barr said.

?They hate powerful women and they hate powerful, deplorable women, and I do consider myself deplorable,? she said. ?Deplorable is the greatest thing Hillary [Clinton] ever called us because it empowered a revolution ? we are deplorable to her kind. Of course, all working-class people are deplorable to her because it was working-class people that elected Trump.?
She called Trump a ?genius? and a ?real deep thinker.?
