last year, i posted a season-long thread detailing how cleveland has been a covering machine vs. detroit the last two or so years.

cavaliers have covered 7 of the last 9 in this series and were 3-1 last year with the only non-cover coming in a game where mcinnis didnt play. for whatever reason, cleveland just really gets up to play the pistons and have covered at a great clip against detroit recently.

that being said, im not thrilled about laying 4 points with cleveland here. theyve been very solid at home early on this year, but this whole brawl throws a wrinkle in everything. not sure if the cavs are gonna get caught napping or not and take the pistons lightly.

but just wanted to post the updated cavs vs. pistons numbers for those playing the game. cleveland is on a great spread run vs these guys.

no play for me, but good luck to those who play either side.

would need a gun to my head to play this game tomorrow gman. Agree with you that cavs get up for pistons and have been a cash cow against detroit ats over the last 2 years or so. I don't have the numbers right in front of me and way to lazy to look it up right now, but I doubt if they were a favorite in more than 1 or 2 of them if that. I agree they have been great as a dog, but I'm not ready to lay chalk with them, especially the 5 that pinny's laying now and was 5.5 when the line opened there. I see zero value in this game, but if forced to bet, I'd play the pistons.

Agree they have been great, but gonna be interesting to see how they pan out as chalk.

gl2u if you play, pass for me with a non money investment lean to pistons.

bleed:

you hit the nail on the head. cavs were a cash cow as dogs (in all those gms i believe). will they remain as profitable as a chalk? im not sure. a definite pass for me. but numbers support a cavs play. cant pull trigger though. cavs have been shitty on national tv too. another reason ill pass. then again, when cavs have played pistons on national tv (twice i believe), theyve cashed both times. lol. so who knows?

hmm..this game looks like a classic situation where what is least expected to happen actually happens.

detroit playing bad ball since the Indy debacle..and are 1-4 on the road...on back to back nights after a loss ..and playing a cav. team who has for some reason or another matched up well with this team and is 4-1 at home ..coming off a win...

just looks like a classic situation of expecting the unexpected..????...

just a thought

good luck

Pistons dont match up well cant keep up to the cavs pace i think the cavs are one of the top bets on the board tonight.

In my opinion there has to be a ton of value in the Pistons moneyline at around +200 as well as getting 6 points here.

bump that to 8-2 ATS L10 for cavaliers vs. detroit.

no regrets on passing this time around. wanted to see how cavs would fare as a chalk. suffice to say (and much to my surprise), they passed the test.

december 16th is the next meeting in detroit. will bump a reminder for those interested then.

mjalam:

(im just breakin chops if it was you) but WAS it you that was one of the guys last year saying that james was overrated and wade was way better? im tempted to search for that thread just for shits and giggles. wade is a stud, but james is absolutely disgusting. already a bona fide superstar at 19.

btw- whats with you and me agreeing on shit lately (i.e toledo and a couple other plays the last few weeks. thats not how its supposed to work?!)

NBA Preview from The Sports Network

This is the second meeting of the season between the squads. On November 24, the Cavaliers defeated the Pistons, 92-76, at Gund Arena. Overall, the home team gas won four of six and 15 of the last 22 contests in this series. Cleveland has won three of its last four games against the Pistons. The Cavaliers have lost nine of 11 and 10 of their last 13 at Detroit.

The Cavaliers are 5-7 on the road this season. Cleveland has lost four of its last six as the visitor.

Thought this may add to the confusion.

Also, Oly has Pistons as a -5 fav so Cavs are dogs and if I am not mistaken, Big Ben is playing. If I am wrong please let me know.

Thanks,
Bill
