I just read everything that I could read about these two teams. I have spent about three hours total now on this game.

If there is one thing I have learned at Madjacks, its that if something looks too good to be true then it is.

Its that simple.

There are way too many good cappers on Rutgers instead of steering clear of the game as a no play.

The books arent stupid. You know this. I know this.
If this line was +10 or above I would understand things and not play it at all. But its not. The line is funny. When the line is funny there is a reason.

And not only that but they took it off the board for a time. The books are playing games with our heads. Everyone was saying oh shit I didnt get to play on Rutgers before they took it off.
Just like reeling in the big fish. I aint biting !

The game came back at +7 Army and I jumped on it. It is now back down to +6.5 . Army is the play.

Rutgers beat Army 44-0 last year but both teams ended up 1-11.

Rutgers lost to Mich State and played ok. Army on the other hand played Conn which I consider a much better team than Mich State.

The starting QB Nevels went down with a leg injury for the second year in a row in the first half. Its funny but when Zac Dorman sp came in at QB he moved the team down the field against Conn with passing. Army has a good corps of WRs and a solid offensive line.

The soph passing QB, the Army defense and special teams, home field, and the funny line tells me that the play is to Army !

ARMY +7 and I think they win outright.

good night I have had it for today.

Easy call to go against the Board and I understand, but sometimes the Board is right!

Rutgers looks easy, maybe too easy, but Army is not worth any money.

Good Luck KOD;) . I did notice you said you spent 3 hours on this game. Dang brother, that's what I call Army bootcamp:D

no kidding.

I spent more time breaking down the Rutgers team to see if they would be vulnerable to the Army game plan. Coach Berry is very talented coach in the fourth year of the program. The Army guys will just about die for this guy.

The fix may be in on this game. I will always remember the guy that said in here one time

" I dont care if the games are fixed, I will just try to bet the side the game is fixed on. "

Go ARMY !

Scooter,

This is a long-way from taking Air Force because of their passing game. Well-thought out analysis and against the norm selection.

I think your wrong (Backups #s were against prevent, Army =solid Oline? , Players would die for this coach?) but the thread was organized, well-thought out and defendable.

Good job!

As BBC stated, getting a bit carried away with Army's personnel. Their O-line stinks, receivers are below average for a Division I program, and this isn't the Army rah-rah teams of old who would 'die' for their coach.

Dohman was the QB when they got trounced at Rutgers last season. Army moved the ball in the second half on a prevent defense that already had the game in hand.

Rutgers only win was against Army last year, but they did show they could compete against top level programs...they gave Tennessee a scare on the road and has Miami Fla beat until a blown INT call for a TD swung the entire game around. Their coach is has been recruiting good talent the past couple years and I think this is the type of game where it will be indicative of how Rutgers talent level has grown while Army's has gone to the shitter. Without the wishbone offense which shortened the game, they have a spread offense that just doesn't have the players who can pull it off and make it work.

"Rutgers Weaknesses:

Turnovers were a problem in the Scarlet Knights last outing against Michigan State, as QB Ryan Hart threw interceptions at crucial points of the game. Rutgers also averages 335 yards of total offense per game and 26 points per game. Their defense isn't matching up to the offenses numbers as they allow 388.5 yards and 27 points per game. "
........................................................

Lets see Rutgers score 26 points a game and allow 27 points. hmmm

From Army.com sports

"Todd Berry has never been one to bristle at a challenge.

Three years ago, when he arrived at West Point, he immediately set out to reverse the Black Knights? football fortunes. In Berry?s first three seasons, the Black Knights have set or tied 25 team or individual records on game, season and career levels.

Since his first day along the banks of the Hudson, Berry has diligently displayed a ?championship? mentality and approach that he has infused into his players, staff, administrators and supporters, all with an eye toward competing for the Conference USA championship as soon as possible.

In fact, it was that same mentality that Berry used to resurrect Illinois State?s football program. The day he was named the Redbirds? head football coach in 1996, he began talking about ISU teams playing for national championships. This for an institution that had experienced little success on the gridiron and had been on the verge of dropping the sport due to its checkered past. Just four years later, Berry completed one of the most amazing turnarounds in Division I-AA history, guiding his revamped Illinois State program all the way to the national semifinals in 1999.

It was that type of unbridled passion and engaging confidence that drew officials at the United States Military Academy to Todd Berry in December 1999 during their search for a new person to lead West Point?s storied football program.

In the end, he was the clear choice to become Army?s 32nd head coach. "

I retract my earlier statement. Did you copy and paste the first post in this thread?

Coaching counts . . . for a win per year
.........................................

No if I copy and paste I put it in quotes.
them were my words from what I read.

I dont always give the proper credit to who wrote the article but who really gives a crap besides no pepper ?

I read a article where the players were psyched about playing Rutgers and one football player said the team would die for the coach but I can't find it again . That pisses me off.

Go Army !

Scott, read some of my posts on Army.Berry is getting his ass fired because he is not a leader. He has won 5 games in 4 yrs.Nobody likes him including most of his players. He has made excuses every yr on why he is losing. This is his 4th yr and all these kids are all his.He is now blaming the civilians on the Post for losing. "spreading attitude".
Scott,I'm not tyring to brag but I can't tell you how many people I know at the Point. From coaches on other teams there, workers there, teachers, phys ed staff, rec staff, special services, dietary,my daughter working there every other weekend and myself who worked there for 6 yrs and basketball and baseball camps. And about 10 varsity basketball officials that work there.
I can honestly say I don't know anyone that has a nice thing to say about Berry. He ripped the old coach, got rid of most of the old coaches. And makes excuses after excuses.
Forget his offense.Wiped out the "wish" or option and went with his spread offense.Never had the talent to run that scheme.Still doesn't and at the Point never will.
You can't run that with 5'10 qbs that weigh 170 pounds.Wr's that have no speed.
I know some will say the USA Conf is tougher.Makes no difference.Holy Cross a D-1A school kicked our butts at home lyr.The yr before Buffalo.
In 4 yrs he has beaten Tulane,Tulane and Tulane.Navy once and houston. Thats it.
Your dead right about all the passing records he sets. And there out of almost every game in doing it.
Setting all time passing records when your 1-11 means nothing.
Berry is so hated by Navy that they poured it on this yr with a 58-12 romp. And that was because of Berry's mouth.

I'm sure your right on with your Rutgers information. But your off on Army and Berry.
Army +7 could easily cover.Rutgers could be looking ahead.Schaino has done nothing but talk about "letdown and not focusing on Army.Esp after beating them 44-0 lyr.
"Army is the only team on Rutgers schedule that they can overlook."
Army does play with intensity and emotion.Thats the Army way long before Berry was ever born.
Rutgers by no means is a power.Schaino has been a huge disappointment after coming from Miami. They are more athletic and much more quicker then the Nites. But haven't proved anything yet.An Army feels Rutgers is one of the few beatable teams on their schedule.

Nevels is out 5 games.Dahman is an avg Qb.In the spread offense he could have problems. His OL is new.Only 1 guy back and he only started 5 games.Conn manhandled them.
And with a 34-0 lead Conn did change their defense. There starters were still in but they gave up the short passes. And one TD was a returned punt.
Dahman is 6'0 and weighs 170 pounds.Without a doubt his ass is about 10 inches in width.I have never seen a D-1 Qb with such a skinny ass.
But his arm is a little above avg.He has no touch on any long passes. He longest completion was a jump pass to 6'6 Alexander. They do that a lot.just chuck it up deep and let Aaaron go up and get it.His 2 ints were long passes that fell short.
Anyway I'll take Rutgers -6.5.Not a big play.Just think Army OL will have trouble with RU defense. And RU has 2 guys that return punts and ko's that are dangerous.Army special teams are bad.Jones or Moses will score.
And your right about games that are taken off the bd and then put back on.I must be 2-24 in those.

Great info.

I just have a gut feeling that if I play Rutgers -6.5 that I was going to get screwed. Its too easy. I hate that feeling. But I have learned to recognize it. In the past when I have gone against this feeling someone fumbles or causes a stupid play and I lose.

I really feel the teams are fairly even. I was impressed Army QB could move the ball against Conn. The Conn coach said he was concerned about winning the game even when they were up by two TD's.

This play is not on the two teams for me. This play is going with the books who I feel are trying to fawk us. The books are just not giving us this game. Something is up.

I am on the game for 2 units. I wouldnt advise anyone to follow me. I am going to see if my theory is correct. Something crazy is going to happen in this game to give Army a back door cover or they will win by 10 points. Only time will tell now. The ballot has been cast.

Good luck

Scott, if I may-if the WORM was to play this and I might(small)-I would play Rutgers and i will tell you why--First off I believe one of the biggest mistakes alot of 'cappers do is look at a spread and read too much into the # itself-i.e. why is it only -7 etc.--I never do that-ever. I am not saying dont look at the number-but if you sit there and examine why a # is what is , it takes away from handicapping the spread that is given and wich team will you pick to beat said spread.

Second-I have to agree with some of Hoops statements Rutgers is a much better team than Army-Rutgers is gaining confidence. Rutgers pounded a bad UB team (the score does not indicate how bad the beat them)--Like I said I might not play this but I think if you do I would go small or trust me and take Rutgers:) :D

Number crunching kills the handicaper

Good info to consider. I already played this at +7.

Here is what I do.

I pick out 10 games that I am interested in college. I do this work usually a week ahead of time. I pick the winner without ever looking at the lines. After a few days I go in and look at the lines for these 10 games. I only play 3-5 games a weekend. My wagers do vary as does my risk.

What really got me directed to Army was when they took it off the board. They took it off the board to sucker us. Then they come back with close to the same number and joe public loaded up on the -7. Ok then if they want to play that way. How many times have we seen a trash team play like superbowl champions on any given Saturday.

Maybe I am wrong, I guess we will see. Its worth 2 units for me to find out. Its like in poker when you call someones hand.

Hey worm44 - I will meet you on the road to Victory lane.
