I thought it might be interesting to see everyone's approaches to handicapping. Since there's only one late, late game, let's try it:

San Diego (-8, 124.5) vs. Portland, Las Vegas, NV

I did this a couple of times with midweek football games. Think they went 3-0, was actually fun to here different views from some of the cappers. I just got home so I hav'nt looked around yet, I'll see what I can come up with. I'm up bout 3 or 4 units, with Loy Mary pending, may or may not play?

Line: SD hasn't been very well against the spread. 10-17 overall, 7-8 as an underdog, 3-11 in conference, and 6-11 against winning teams (0-6 last 6). Portland is 14-10 overall ATS, 11-4 as a favorite, 8-5 in conference, and 5-3 against teams with a losing record. Big advantage Portland.

Recent history: Last 10 ATS: SD 2-7-1, Port 5-4 (1 game unlined). Adv: Port

Just going on spread history, you've gotta go Portland

I'll let others deal with the Over/Under, because I SUCK at picking totals.

My pick is Portland to cover.

Good one LDB. I usually figure out O/U's by pouring my beer into a glass. If it foams over I bet OVA, if it stays under the lip I bet Unda......:00x1

I usually don't read too much into %'s, but I do check them. 95% are on Port spreat, while 99% are on the moneyline, and the line has moved 1 point??? Hmm.

Nik Ravio is out for Port, while San Dgo has trouble scoring in an empty gym, still digging but starting to lean Under 122.5 . Port has to score 72ish while Diego will need 50 for the Ova, but at neutral site with Nik out, might see 62-53ish???

I think mr testicle might have a good play... this total opened at 125 i believe and now sitting at 122... Im not playing anything on this game, dont ever bet just to bet... but if I had to I would probably go over...

Anybody know about this Nik kid thats out, how is he defensively? Sometimes when a decent player is out, the defense is effected, and the Ova would look better.

OK, LDB is right. There's no reason to bet this. If Pacific and Niagara come in right, I'll be up 28 units on the day, no need to be greedy. If they don't, I'll still be up 18, so I'm not playing a 50/50. I was just making this thread to see people's 'capping strategies, thought it might be a good way to pass the time.
