Here ya go Kick, some reference materials for us to use. Now lets finish up this tourney in style.

Let's see if I can can git one more reply in here to make it an even ONE. LOL

Sunday plays

Isner +125 : never thought I'd put a cent on this bore. Got a HUGE serve, mopes around the court, looks as much interested in the game as I am betting on darts, and IMO all his shot are mediocre at best. BUT, that dang servs is really getting him places alright.Youzhny is not really on top of his game at this time. Both players like the hard courts, but Youz isn't going to like that Isner serve one bit. BTW, O/U's ain't out yet, but Isner has a nak for getting into those marathons and over MAY not be a bad pick for this one.

Dementieva -155: just the fitter and better player.

Lopez -118 : looking for a Stakhovsky BOUNCE.. (any horse players in that line out there? They'll know what I'm talkin about.). This one may be the bestest of these ?

Oh, SCHIAVONE +120: gets a vote of confidence (guess it's just a LEAN). She impressed the hell out of me in that French finale. Stosur didn't lose it.. Shiavone clearly WON IT. Bastage costed me too. A nice big bowl of spagetti and meat balls last night might be all she needs to kick Pavli's ass today. Problem is that Pavli is currently playing the best she's EVER played right now. She very recently beat names like Hantuchova, Wickmayer, and DEMENTIEVA...... AND annihilated Dulko in her last match. Still, a determined, strong-willed Schiavone is one tough cookie.

Good luck with the MMA's , Bellators (some day I may figure out what the hell thems stand for?) .. and of course, the tennis.

GREAT- people blowing the dust off them keyboards

GREAT- people blowing the dust off them keyboards

Petey.. I sure hope ya didn't take MY advice about Schiavone only being a LEAN :s2:

Ghost.. I couldn't make a call on that match. Now I got some interest in it cause I'll be rooting forya

Kick: I KNOW I can count on you stoppin in here - reply or not. Thanks.

AGAIN, I don't know any results yet CEPT - my pasta packin Italian pit bull was a WINNAH. BTW, IF Dimes is still offering futures plays (I think they do when nuthin is happening on the courts). I think I found that DARK horse I was looking for on the ladies side. Gimme some of that gal to win it ALL on the ladies side. Explained why in my previous post why.
Note that she HAS displayed the talent to do that well before she pulled off the French. She was rated as no. 13 in the world sometime around 2005 or 6. I've been watching her (she used to be VERY comical to watch) for a long time. Anybody remember "Mysinka" (mosquito?).. she's a lot like her.

I also THINK that I may have taken one "on the chin" (hiya MMA, Belator fans) with Nalbandian today. He was on my "A" list :(
Maybe he pulled out that match? Didn't look too good when I briefly saw the score earlier on that one.

Guess that's it for now. Nobody on line outside, hope thems watching some tennis on tv

Here I go AGAIN

Here I go AGAIN

ANYbody watching Murray/Waw? RIGHT NOW thems split two sets, 26 freakin games, and it looks like Murray is throwing in his patented 1-6 or 2-6 mid-setter to MAKE SHO this match goes OVER. Ya think? And then finish off Wawrinka? Ya think?

Is this the match I've been waiting for .... er, nope.

Stay tuned; but I'm signing out to go and agonize through the rest of this match.

Petey, bestest advice I give ya is - if ya gonna tail DO PLAY stuff that I write about but I DON'T play. You'll do well.

Jimbo.... well apparently tailing you is off to a good start. Schiavone - I don't care if it was a lean or not! Then Lopez - walkover. And I played the Iz-Youz over, as well! Good times!
Best of luck to ya, and thanks for your lengthy write ups!

I think you need to get the bell back out.

And yes I can't believe I put a dime on Isner either and we both paid for it.

Actually worser than a so-so Sunday

Actually worser than a so-so Sunday

Keg, I did stop in your place and saw the Lloydra play. What the heck could I write,"I'd only have a Lean on Robredo"? Actually, I couldn't make a call on that match cause I'm not that familiar with Lloyd. SHOULDA wrote, "Give that Murray fella an OVER call if ya gonna go banannas with the bets ! :(

Petey: Keep on doing what you're doing with the picks. Makes me feel good to see somebody is turning my lossahs or "I likem but not gonna really playems" into WINNAHS. Tennis fans like you encourage me to continue posting. :00hour

Ghost- Well, at least you didn't get that play from my lossahs. I had a very good reputation of picking tennis matches in my old forum. There's a guy in my old forum that would stop into my thread every once in awhile and tail one of my tennis picks. Just about EVERY stinkin time - he'd FIND THAT DANG LOSSAH

daNG IT.. i JUST HIT THE SEND BUTTON BY MISTAKE. .... continuing this thread from here...

ok, ---"he'd FIND THAT DANG LOSSAH even when I posted something like 3 or 4 winners and ONE STINKIN LOSSAH. Sure enough, he'd tail that loser. SHEET. Then I wouldn't see him for MONTHS. I sure hope that isn't gonna happen with you. I'm thinking that you may be doing just fine with the fights picks. If you're not - there ain't no fairness in this world.

Yeah, not only Isner gave me some pain but even one I didn't post put a little dent in the ole bankaroo.. Nalbandian.

Blah, Blah, Blah Dept. (Sorry Kick, but thanks to Petey for requesting this stuff :))

Here's some thoughts I have that some folks may be interested in:

I KNOW the pros play heavier than I do and know what they're doing asfaras as how to bet goes. Thems play SINGLE, straight plays - no gimmick (props) plays neither. I do both, parlays (esp. early in these tourneys) and single plays (fairly priced favs. that I REALLY like a LOT and doggies that have a shot).

Now, take that Schiavone match. I marked that one in my BIG black book :) as a "I like but no play". THEN I checked my pending parlays. I got one going that only needs a college footballer to win today and it will cash pretty dang big. It's got that Montanes dog AND A winning baswbawl dog (wierd odds of +108) in it and it's a 4 teamer.

That parlay definitely needs to be insured. If that big payoff was on a single play like most peoples make - how much would I have to lay out for the insurance? And - how much could I save with "insurance costs" IF I use my friend, that little Italian pit bull with the insurance play? Turned out that I liked TWO basebawlers a lot and both were real close to +100 plays. Sooo... I made TWO stinkin paralys, each one had - One of the bawler's, the little pit bull, and the other side of the that big payoff college football play. EVEN if only one of those insurance parlays stayed alive - I'd be in for a pay day today after the football game. Turned out that BOTH of them are still alive (both baseballers won) and today is gonna be a payday no matter what. BTW, the bigger payoff is still for the 4 teamer to cash. Oh.. and the football game is "Maryland/Navy UNDER 49 1/2". Funny thing is that I took that football play off the top of my head and it just wound up landing in a "basket' of golden eggs. That's another thing I like about parlays.

That's why I like 5Dimes cause thems let us do them kinda things and I guess there's some other books that also are pretty liberal with parlays. I think they also let you mix fights with other sports (you still awake Kick, Ghost?).

I'm not trying to sway anybody to be a parlayholic thats for sure. But, with tennis odds and the HIGH % of favorite winners, it's the way to go for me in the EARLY ROUNDS.

Now, it's two teamer parlays and single plays cause the odds are better with tennis. I'm hoping that we can ring that bell AFTER this tourney is over, Keg, with another TKO to our credit. :mj06:

Gonna checkout today's stuff and come back IF I SEE SOME WORTHWHILE.

Happy LABOR day (Yuck) yawl

Happy LABOR day (Yuck) yawl

NO reading glasses required for this re. my Labor (Phewey) Day picks;

I think the dogs may be howling today:

Wickmayer +120: youngster got some talent, but I got to warn yas - I don't follow Kanepi too closely. I've cashed in on Wick this tourney once already and watched her play real close-like though.

Schiavona +220: I just came from Dimes and got me some of the Italian pit bull @ +2200 to win it all. And that is EXACTLY the odds I got. Now ain't that something cause she IS @+220 for this one. Gimme some of this too. More on this play than the futures play of course.

Woz/ParaShova OVER 22 games @ -125: BUT WAIT. Please correct me if my reasoning is off - but isn't this ESSENTIALLY saying that the dang match goes 3 sets? So how bout taking BOTH - Woz wins 2-1 @ +337 AND PS wins 2-1 @ +292. Just put half of what your orig. intended on each. I guess it's the "essentially" thang that can bite ya though. You can win or get a push if they go only 2 sets with the OVER play. Ok, that settles it; I'll take my chances with the +292 and +337 odds. I can't figure out whose gonna win this matchup.

Gasquet/Monfils: Almost just like the above. Gasquet has always been a Choker Supreme, but the chokes usually come in the FINAL set. Monfils can run all day as long as them skinny legs don't break. I think the odds warrant a SHOT (and ONLY a small shot) with Gasser wins 3-2 @+479 AND Monfils wins 3-2 @ +520. I can understand if somebody thinks these plays are silly (I DON'T) so just to share my thought's - IF I HAD TO PICK A WINNER (I don't have to) - I'd play Gasquet with your money.

FISH +265: I almost caught this minnow turned shark the other day. I'll take this play with MY $. Don't let DeJOKA fool ya with that 5 setter performance he gave the other day.

How to play? Parlayaramas MOSTLY (but Fish is a single for me and maybe one or two of the others. Gotta see what the other ingredients are for the parlay recipe before I decide on the others). See Petey for better advice about how to play your plays today.

Good Luck

Oh boy :(

Oh boy :(

10 dimes on each! :0corn

:00x4

Petey, I don't know if that's you or Key but I don't think that dimes are the way to go with those positvie odds play. That goes double for them +200 to +400 odd plays.

I was hoping to smokem, but I'm getting close to calling for the gas masks in this place cause I'm getting a little smoked. Preservation of PROFITS is the way to go though and using parlays and small single plays on those positive odds picks sho helps toward avoiding the hangmans noose.
hangmans_noose_opCq8_16419.jpg
:scared

Despite taking a hit today, I'm sure glad that at least I was right about "not being able to pick the winner of this one" for a number of the picks and didn't have to put much down to win much if ya know what I mean. Now that the books are starting to put up those gimmick plays at great odds... I usually continue trying to nail one of them suckers. I caught my fair share (low percentage, but GREAT payoffs) in the past with those and was very happy with the returns for 1 or 2 stinkin units. Putting a nice footsballer (or fighter) with one them makes ya feel even better. Let me know if you want me to post the other team sports picks (there aren't many that I come up with) to make the parlays IF that stuff is allowed in here.

RIGHT NOW I'm doing some serious rooting for the Maryland/Navy game to go UNDER. One of them parlays will cash and it's only a 1 1/2 stinkin units wins 8 +. It's early 4th quarter and I do see that fluc*&*ing hangman coming this way... but the GOOD NEWS is he's far away.

Hope you didn't get burnt to badly.. we still got the pit bull out there for us tomorrow.

gotta get back to the ballers.

Nah, Jimbo, wasn't too bad. Hit a parlay with Djok as the last leg, so that was a saving grace. Went to the Sharapova-Woz match... and damn those girls can play. Sharapova should have won the 2nd set, just too many unforced errors and a key double fault on break point. Keep it comin' love your input:0074 :0074 :0074

Not much going today

Not much going today

Petey, like your upbeat style. Hey, you live in the N.J./N.Y. metropolitan area?

My biggest screwup yesterday was underestimating Wozniaki... she IS much better than I gave her credit for.

I knew that Monfils is erratic.. runs hot or cold. Anybody putting more than a couple of units on a match involving him is wacko.

The Murray loss was actually a good thing for me cause now I don't have to play him vs. Nadal. If I ain't around here... you DO want to follow him, his game is at a level where he can beat anybody on any given day. I do believe he may have been hurting yesterday.

Gasquet continued his gutless ways. Just surrendered the second set. Gave it a brief try in the third set and then totally gave up after he was down in that set. This guy who has the most beautiful (just can't think of another word now) backhand stroke in tennis has one hell of an ugly heart.. .. absolutely GUTLESS.

When I just looked over the games for today, AGAIN I'm thinking, like yesterday, dog winners. And just like yesterday, THAT AIN'T A GOOD THING. I know from experience that it's when I side with the favs. after just going over the matches.. that's usually when I win.

You folks know I like Schiavone today.

Hmmm... you know what - nuthin else. DeJoka is the closest for me to go with, but NOT at -370, not even as a Parlay Stuffer.

Again, it's put down a little and win a lot (or lose a little) for me today. Four parlays; Shiavone in every one at either she wins 2-0 or 2-1 with combinations of baseball and a college FB play. Not gonna type them all out, but it's pretty much a recipe that cashes if Schiavone clicks (either score) and one of the baseballers and two of the parlays also have a CFBer. Too confusing for anybody to understand, but the other "ingredients are - Cubs, Oakland (BB), and Auburn -2. The total cost of those 4 parlays is barely over one stinking unit.

BTW, just to illustrate how this gambling thing can do wierd things - it took an "off the top of my head' college FBer (Marylnd/Navy UNDER) to save a 4 teamer with TENNIS plays (2) and a basese play. Cashing that parlay really helped out on a bad day yesterday.

RIGHT NOW, watching the Ital. pit bull.

When it rains - it POURS

When it rains - it POURS

Bubba_sleeping_sm.jpg

(don't get nervous, she's sleeping not dead)

Easy for me to post the results for today cause I already got the word "LOSAH" in the buffer on this puter. You know, from yesterday's results. Here ya go....

Shiavone vs. Williams: LOSAH :( - Shia put in a VERY nice effort and I enjoyed every minute of the match, except maybe her failing late in that second set after pulling off a great comeback for the second time during that match. I think that losing that first set was HUGE even for a pit bull that fights to the death like her. Subconciously, it had to have affected her a bit. Venus pretty much played her game and Francesca slipped up too many times with going for too much on too many shots. Looked to me like she did a good job returning that Williams big serve though.

Just Sharing Ideas and Comments Dept.

It's time for me to get off the Shiavone bandwagen cause I think she'll cool off and come down after the Open. Most likely - No play on her for awhile! DO get her whenever her odds are playable on CLAY though. IF you ever see her name listed in one of them MMA's thingies (they gotem for women?).. 10 dimes is the way to go!

Dontcha think somebody needs to advise the clown (1 of 2) that was out there that there's still well over a month till Halloween. A tight, see through evening gown that has to get pulled down AFTER EVERY POINT so the fans don't get a glimpse of the REAL thang is just so ridiculous. And the sparkles to boot ... SHEESH! What a clown.

I absolutely respect all them foreign players that speak English. I guess the tudors start at the top of the alphabet, but would thems PLEEZ leave out "AMAZING". EVERYTHING is ... AMAZING. AMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING. The broadcasters need to stop asking questions that start with "What did you thing of.. . . " or "How do feel now that... ... ". The answer is gonna be AMAZING (to me pretty much means nuthin). There's a word that Clisjters uses in about every third sentence. Guess it?

(yeah, I'm getting to be an old, grouchy fart :( ):mj07:

I got to thinking that it makes sense that the matches I call (and maybe YOU THINK also) as as being "too close to call" should go OVER. I think I would have gone with at least one OVER for Tues, but chickened out after Sunday's & Monday's matches... didn't more than something like 80% of the matches get finished in straight sets for those days and just about EVERY "Over" play woulda lost? I think I'm gonna take an OVER in at least one of the matches soon cause surely a few of them ARE gonna be too close to call. Just for the record -> Clement, Mathieu, MURREY, and a few others (specially Spanish players) that I can't think of right now... are very good OVER prospects for just about ALL their matches. Also, O/U are better for the men's side not the ladies. Just sharing ideas.

I'll see about writing about how I put the parlays together sometime. Make absolutely sure yous are wide awake and got your reading glasses on though. Someday, after some of our visitors either join MadJack's or those that are already members will make the effort of blowing the dust off their keyboards and let us know thems are really interested - I'll prob. give it a go. (Hmmmm.. come to think of it, maybe it's better ya leave the dust on them for now given how I've done the past two days). I realized that AFTER I got through writing a little about how I put them together in my prev. post it turned out to be a confusing mess. Sorry bout that, Petey.

I actually started writing this around 7 p.m. , got a diner call, so I saved it for now. Notice how being a parlay head pretty much saved me yesterday? Now I see that BOTH baseballers lost, BOTH Shiavone plays lost, and the way I'm going the Auburn pick may be a loser as well. Can you imagine what kind of a hit I woulda taken if I played them as singles? IF I did play singles though the plays woulda been on Schiavone (both plays) and Oakland As that's all. With parlays you gotta find more ingredients for the "recipes" and thats not too good.
I guess I've gotten lucky so far cause I've been saved a good no. of times IF say I got 9 plays that I just like (all sports that I play) and say I make 3 three-teamers. Well, it's happened where the 3 of them fell IN THE SAME PARLAY and thats a great payday. BUT, even if one killed one parlay and two killed another parlay - quite often (depending on how you setup the parlays) just the only winning parlay STILL can produce a profit for the day. I guess the point that I'm making is don't be an exclusive parlayhead, but they are very useful quite often, ESP. in early rounds of big-field tennis tournies.

Hope some other of MJ's tennis fans are also holding a futures play on Rafa... if so keep that ticket in a safe place cause it just might be worth something after this weekend. :00x23 I think we're sitting pretty dang good with Murray out. The bad news is that Federer is looking more and more like the old Federer. I STILL think he's gonna get a little intimidated when he see's the man in red doing his boxing jumps just before the match. It should serve as a reminder of whose "boss" when Rafa is on the other side of the net. Intimidated or not - I think Rafa nails him.

MAN, this thing got long. Sorry bout that, Kick.

I quickly checked out the matches for today and don't see anything to post or PLAY. Maybe a short break is what I need anyways.

Good luck footballing or whatever you folks play besides tennis.

Hey Jimboski, my last bet on tennis was a year ago and my next will probably be a year from now, but I make sure to read your posts.
Good stuff.
BTW I learned English in school and although I don't use amazing at all, I got nothing against that word.
Words I don't like at all are awesome and dude.
Hate those words.

Still not much going today

Still not much going today

Thanks for stopping in ODF.

I guess starting a little side talking like discussing English grammar and syntax doesn't belong in a tennis forum and I started it :nooo: too. But it breaks up the monotony of just making tennis picks ESPECIALLY when the crystal ball is getting mighty cloudy lately.

LAST OFF TOPIC in here, well at least for this thread :) - Your screen name reminds of a kid I went to (Catholic) grade school with. We were in the 5th or 6th grade and he would beat the crap out of any of the high school freshmen bullies that would test him. Easily the toughest guy I've ever known and I grew up in a pretty tough place (Jersey City). Well, about 20+ years later I met him in some niteclub and it was great talking to him again. He looked tougher than ever so I asked him if he followed up on bashing peoples brains out for a living. He told me HE DID try to followup with that and got his FIRST semi amatuer match. He told me "they threw" him in a match vs. a HUGE, MONSTER who outweighed him by at least 30-40 lbs. (my buddy was no lightweight neither) but the monster had a poor record vs. some old pros. He said he went out there to see what that big guy had and found out REAL QUICK LIKE. He said he got pummeled pretty badly and never stood a chance. Said that changed his mind real fast about pursuing a career in that sport.

That story is related to tennis. I was going to write a little about how superb of an athlete these tennis players are and believe that very, very few of the pros in other sports would not be able to remain on their feet in any pro tourney that requires 3 sets to win EVEN IF THEY COULD PLAY TENNIS. I guess soccer and basketballers may be an exception. But for the others - after a set or two, they'd be on their backs like a cockaroach running in the air especially in the heat of Australia or N.Y. in Aug-Sept. I played in county and corporate tounaments and have a couple of trophies but I KNOW that the best I could do vs. a no. 100 ranked player is hand him a roll of toilet paper when he needed it.

Somehow the sport doesn't interest many followers in these forums.

Back to business

- Cllisters (keep forgetting where the hell that freakin "j" goes, ain't gonna bother with it no mo). Well, she got this far without tanking AND she usually picks up her game even more vs. the BiG gals :) I checked last night to see what her odds are to win it all and see that she ain't favored neither. If I remember correctly shes at something like +170. I'm not into futures that much although I gots my only future ticket on RAFA (+345) in a lock box :) but I think CLISTERS is a decent play to win it all. I don't look ahead, but if this tourney is heading for a Clisters vs. Wozzie final, I think there's enough of an edge due to Wozzie's first time in such a spot vs. an excellent veteran player like Clis. whose proven she can handle the big stage. Caution - bagging over 2.5 million bucks for Wozzie if she wins this thing ain't gonna help our cause methinks.

Ferrer's loss: Man, what a shame. He had Verdasco and let him get away. LUV the way he plays. Hey, you know what the tiger likes to do in his pastime? Wouldya believe he likes to READ books, especially classics. :scared

Broadcasters: How bout this catagory, MAN, I must be bored today.
In order ->DO LISTEN TO Gilbert and Darin, the Aussie (they call him the "killer") you'll get some good insights and they know what thems talking about, Mac bros - pretty good stuff, Mary Carillo is best to listen to for ladies side and pretty good for men as well, Drysdale, and ALL the others - put the dang ear plugs on.

Picks ... I know, FINALLY

Rafa wins it all: IF you think he can beat Fed., his current future odds ain't bad.

Wawrinka +118 : yeah I'm on this, but I'm rolling down hill lately.

Clisters wins it all : Already addressed this one.

Clisters -193 vs. Williams: looks like a parlay stuffer.

Clisters wins 2-1 @ +296: I'll be on this one for a unti or so and I will try to find some companion plays to go with it for a little parlayramas action too.:00x25

Zvonareva beats Kanepi 2-0: Done and a winnah. MAYBE I'm getting out of the damn quicksand I stepped in. Sorry, I didn't post it and used it in a 4 teamer parlay (ballers) that is just something I took a shot with well after I posted. The odds weren't that good for a "calling the sets" play anyway and I wasn't too confident about it anyways.

G.L. y'awl
