I'm very sorry for your families loss, very tough to loose a good man like your brother-in-law. May he rest in eternal peace.

I did not want to use the site for those purposes other than to get the prayers flowing for the family... but if anyone does add to their Memorial Fund it is only a benefit to them and especially their little one.

Dan was an avid wood-worker, and polished professional serving as a manager of procurement for Lennar homes...(Orin Thompson homes, and another name I don't remember) but he was an avid fisherman, and very good golfer. For his son's b-day the focus was on taking his son fishing for real for the first time this summer... that was his one and only focus... being a great dad.

Thanks again for the prayers, and for those that are praying you are all class acts!

Request...

How about a list of songs like "Wind Beneath My Wings" Bette Middler that I can use.

Spent the day compiling digital pics of Dan from both sides of the families, and am making a CD for playback on the monitors at the Viewing and then the Church for the funeral. This will be music looped through on a slide-show type format I am making.

Please name the title of song and the artist so that I can find it and use it...

Appreciate the prayers...

dog,

As a suggestion, you make want to contact a local church for some peaceful hymns. They may even have something available on disc.

Thanks buddy, I do have a few of the hymn songs that will be used for the services etc...

This is becoming a keepsake for the immediate family, as well as requested to run on the loop in the outside of the church, and again for the the viewing on Monday.

Here is what I found so far, with lyrics being very important... (I will time with pics being showed.)

Thanks again for the reply and thoughts...

Sorry for your loss dogface. It really bothers me when children are involved in such a tragedy. I hope your sister gets through this difficult time in her life.

Take care dogface.

Dance With My Father by Luther Vandross is a beautiful song that might be appropriate. I found it on a You Tube link so you could listen.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVJNWeh3NeE

"Dance With My Father"

Back when I was a child, before life removed all the innocence
My father would lift me high and dance with my mother and me and then
Spin me around ?til I fell asleep
Then up the stairs he would carry me
And I knew for sure I was loved
If I could get another chance, another walk, another dance with him
I?d play a song that would never, ever end
How I?d love, love, love
To dance with my father again
When I and my mother would disagree
To get my way, I would run from her to him
He?d make me laugh just to comfort me
Then finally make me do just what my mama said
Later that night when I was asleep
He left a dollar under my sheet
Never dreamed that he would be gone from me
If I could steal one final glance, one final step, one final dance with him
I?d play a song that would never, ever end
?Cause I?d love, love, love
To dance with my father again
Sometimes I?d listen outside her door
And I?d hear how my mother cried for him
I pray for her even more than me
I pray for her even more than me
I know I?m praying for much too much
But could you send back the only man she loved
I know you don?t do it usually
But dear Lord she?s dying
To dance with my father again
Every night I fall asleep and this is all I ever dream

Unforgettable by Nat King Cole might also be nice.

Unforgettable, thats what you are
Unforgettable though near or far
Like a song of love that clings to me
How the thought of you does things to me
Never before has someone been more

Unforgettable in every way
And forever more, thats how youll stay
Thats why, darling, its incredible
That someone so unforgettable
Thinks that I am unforgettable too

Unforgettable in every way
And forever more, thats how youll stay
Thats why, darling, its incredible
That someone so unforgettable
Thinks that I am unforgettable too

Dog, My sympathies and prayers to you and your family. I know you will be able to help show your nephew what a great man his father was and how to grow up just like him!

At my father's funeral we had "On Eagles Wings" played at the recession and final blessing of mass. Meant alot as Eagles' are one of the few birds that fly directly into storm, not around. Hope it brings some solace.

On Eagles Wings
Written by Michael Joncas
Isaiah 40:31
"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run,
and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint."

You who dwell in the shelter of the Lord,
Who abide in His shadow for life,
Say to the Lord, "My Refuge,
My Rock in Whom I trust."

Refrain
And He will raise you up on eagle's wings,
Bear you on the breath of dawn,
Make you to shine like the sun,
And hold you in the palm of His Hand.

The snare of the fowler will never capture you,
And famine will bring you no fear;
Under His Wings your refuge,
His faithfulness your shield.

Refrain
And He will raise you up on eagle's wings,
Bear you on the breath of dawn,
Make you to shine like the sun,
And hold you in the palm of His Hand.

You need not fear the terror of the night,
Nor the arrow that flies by day,
Though thousands fall about you,
Near you it shall not come.

Refrain
And He will raise you up on eagle's wings,
Bear you on the breath of dawn,
Make you to shine like the sun,
And hold you in the palm of His Hand.

For to His angels He's given a command,
To guard you in all of your ways,
Upon their hands they will bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.

Refrain
And He will raise you up on eagle's wings,
Bear you on the breath of dawn,
Make you to shine like the sun,
And hold you in the palm of His Hand.
And hold you in the palm of His Hand.

Dog,

Here is a great poem you may want to use.

A Father Prayer by General Douglas MacArthur (May 1952)

Build me a son, O Lord, who will be strong enough to know when he is weak, and brave enough to face himself when he is afraid; one who will be proud and unbending in honest defeat, and humble and gentle in victory.

Build me a son whose wishbone will not be where his backbone should be; a son who will know Thee, and that to know himself is the foundation stone of knowledge.

Lead him I pray, not in the path of ease and comfort, but under the stress and spur of difficulties and challenge. Here let him learn to stand up in the storm; here let him learn compassion for those who fail.

Build me a son whose heart will be clear, whose goal will be high; a son who will master himself before he seeks to master other men; one who will learn to laugh, yet never forget how to weep; one who will reach into the future, yet never forget the past.

And after all these things are his, add, I pray, enough of a sense of humor, so that he may always be serious, yet never take himself too seriously. Give him humility, so that he may always remember the simplicity of true greatness, the open mind of true wisdom, the meekness of true strength.

Then, I, his father, will dare to whisper, have not lived in vain.

Again thanks for the words.... they mean a lot and this will be printed and shown to the mom, and kept for the son for later in his life.

1%er and VaNurse-

That is exactly the stuff I was looking for.... some gems there especially with the poem!

Thanks for those that offered up there prayers, it was appreciated.

Today was the funeral services, and as one can expect more than difficult to attend, and be apart of.

1%er, I had a Memorial Video done with the Father's Prayer poem overlapped on his 2 year old son's face (black and white) and then when the words were done the photo turned into vibrant color as the picture was taken. It was quite a powerful way to end a Memorial. I also spoke the poem at the funeral service today, and it was a tear-jerker with profound meaning to all.

Also there was a section on the Memorial video that focused on only pics of him and his son, while playing the Luther Vandross song, "Dance With My Father" so VaNurse "Thank You" for your signifigant contributions to our day!

In loving memory of Daniel A. Johnson!
