LOL, well atleast one of us will be winning then.

Of those bets you placed, I took a look back and here's what I had in those fights:

Couture over Gonzaga
Nate Diaz over Assuncao
Quarry over Sell...but was hard not to pick Sell because of Quarry's back condition.
Thomas over Florian...Thomas got hurt badly in this fight when he hurt his knee. Otherwise you never know what coulda happened.
Fitch over Sanchez...I think he's on Bisping level as far as overratedness. I love how Fitch brings it.
Starnes over Belcher
Silva over Marquardt
Sherk over Franca
Edgar over Bocek...Frank Edgar is the real deal
Gurgel over Saraiva
Nogueira over Herring
Florian over Robinson

Now I'm not trying to brag, because I'm not. They were simply just picks.

Anyways, over this time period, I had some really good picks going. UFC 73 I picked every single fight right. 2 fights by the exact happening, and 3 fights by the right happening, just wrong round.

What I've learned over the past couple of years in the MMA world is alot of the times you have to stay away from the picks that you WANT to win. Not necessarily who you think will win. Alot of the times you find yourself betting/picking against an opponent because you simply don't like them, or for whatever reason.

Typically, I don't try and force the issue. If you're unsure of who's going to win, or you see yourself picking a fighter because you just simply want the other fighter to lose, just stay away from it...

I know the underdogs are typically GREAT payouts in MMA, but rarely do they happen.(Yes, I know there's been alot of upsets this year, but you prolly couldn't count them all on 1 hand as far as YOU WOULD'VE NEVER EXPECTED.) Some of the upsets I've seen, IMO aren't as shockers as you'd think.

I agree with your whole post (especially about Edgar being the real deal).

I thought the Sell fight was money in the bank while watching it, only to have Quarry come up with that beauty punch in the last round.
Fitch is a shit hot fighter but I had seen him against Joslin and thought Sanchez had a great chance. I could not have been more wrong.

I will never bet thousands on MMA ever again.
I used to be shit hot at picking MMA but have not picked correctly since Rampage/Liddel #2.

The best MMA bet I ever made was on
Wand/Cro Cop fight one and it was because the books made a mistake in regards to the rules. They had a draw listed at 10 to 1 but it was under special rules and the fight was not allowed to stay on the ground for any more than one minute at a time. If the fight went the distance it was declared an automatic draw (Silva deserved the win) I don't think the books knew about the special rules for this fight and some people made a killing.
I don't think the books even have the draw option these day's.

Good Luck.

i only took it small, but managed to bet both sides as a dog.

Sorry for anyone who tailed me big and failed :(

Anyways, it was a disatrous UFC for me. Wanderlei didn't try to finish Chuck when he knocked him on his ass and let him up. Chuck simply got the best of him that night.

I've been really busy lately, and will be over the next couple of days.

Will chime in with my thoughts and such when possible.

GL!!

I don't know Bucks i don't think chuck was hurt any of those times he fell. A time or two when they both were swinging wildly maybe but the falls looked like he was off balance. Still it was a great fight and boy did that card need it. I just saw where Chuck got paid 500,000 grand for the fight but the main event GSP doesn't even get half of it. Saw the payroll was about 2 million. Boy these guys to me are really raking it in and yes it is their company but paying Palelei 5 grand taking a risk like that is a joke. 5 grand the guy got are they kidding me? Hughes only gets 100 grand and Chcuk gets 5hun:shrug:

Soa Palelei (defeated by Eddie Sanchez)

* $5,000 total salary
o $5,000 to show
o Win bonus would have been $5,000

Keep the chin up Bucks. I'm sure everyone on this site are big boys who can take a loss if they had one.
Silva will be back.

I might disagree with some of your picks but I respect your arguements as they have good logic behind them.:thumb:

This was one of those PPV's that it was really hard for me to pick the top 3 because of my personal interest. I'll pick Wanderlei no matter who he fights, kinda like how Kickserv will with GSP. You can't vote against your favorite fighter, I mean cmon! :)

As far as Sokoudjou...He simply didn't attack like he should've. He fell right into Machida's rap and Machida made Sokoudjou look bad. He needs to improve his ground game before he can afford to turn the fight into a nip-n-tuck match.

Then with GSP vs Hughes: Let me first just say that GSP is a great fighter, and Hughes is as well...I don't think Hughes deep down respects GSP like he should and I sort of saw it the way he fought. Anyways, this fight was a lose-lose to me. I don't like either fight, but I dislike GSP the most, so that's why I took Hughes by decision.

As far as my betting....I only bet on the 2 fights that I told gardenweasel that I was most confident with, and then I made a nice chunk on the Eddie Sanchez fight. I can't believe he was an underdog before the fight, and especially after.

I think I replied to someone awhile back about betting on fight where you can't put your personal feelings aside, and to simply just DON'T bet those. I've learned that in the past, and it saved me alot of money at UFC79.
