AV2 - Romanticizing? Why of course! That's what books allow you to do. But don't be fooled - have spent too long as a journo not to acquire a sizable chunk of cynicism and objectivity.
KC - of course I haven't forgotten about ya! Will definitely be popping in to share many yarns; real keen to meet the Sunshine Band too if they're still around
JT - an America's Cup story would be good copy indeed. It's funny how we as a nation jump on the America's Cup as the greatest thing since sliced bread when we're winning it and foget that the rest of the world really dioesn't give a chit! Personally feel it's a bunch of billionaires exercising their fantasies as world sports powers - many average Kiwis have been sucked into the corporate/media-hype whirlwind.
The "Madjacks' America" project, at this stage, is probably 3rd in line in the books I want to get written and behind two others in progress.
The first is a novel tentatively entitled "Sweet Thing" - may be able to provide a draft first chapter soon once polished if anyone's interested - and a non-fiction piece entitled "One Hit Wonders", focussing on 10 bands who had a massive worldwide hit song only to then disappear from view completely.
That's when I'm not trying to earn the wages to pay the mortgage ...
