Marquez' has a big problem of getting over confident when he hurts Vasq., he put him down in the 4th and tried too hard to finish Vasq off and got hurt himself....happens every time

Great fight btw, Marquez winning the rounds but seems to get hurt at least once a round

Took 5 rounds for Vasq eyes to open up

Marquez dropping bombs on him in the 7th

Marquez hits just as hard as Vasq, just looks like Vasq is the bigger puncher b/c Marq doesn't take punches as well

Vasq comes back and takes the 8th, still have Marq up by a couple rounds due to the kd

Great fight...unfortunately it could go the distance, but these guys have to fade in the last 3 rounds

i thought that was a TKO, not a KD.

costed me 570$, all my winnings from last week.

marquez was completely out on his feet, hands down, slumped, defenseless. vasquez caught him on the ropes and caught him clean as he was slumped.

bernstein is praising the ref, i dont entirely agree.

Sorry for not finishing the fight, had to update my stream account so I can watch the UFC card

Great fight, I thought the ref did a great job all the way around, still a shame that the point deduction decided the fight, but it was deserved for all the low blows throughout...imo

i was a biased about the loss, ah well, its borderline. any other time in the fight its probably a tko, we don't need another- taylor-chavez. still, marquez was getting really battered and took a few more clean shots as the ref stepped in.

i saw it as a close but clear vasquez win, the question was to me was do you let rafael hear the bell or give vasq the tko.

best fight ive ever seen in real-time no doubt. next time i wont bother to bet, it kind of ruins the moment. you can't put a price on a historic event like that, it could win fight of the decade.

very sad about the deduction...i didn`t think it was warranted...it was on the hip....

to decide a fight like that on a point deduction is very sad,indeed....

great fight though...

no 4...please...my heart can`t take it...

personally i dont want to see a 4th fight, vasquez would win easier with a healed nose and eye, and rafael could get seriously hurt.

both guys could already be seriously hurt, at some point the brutality outweights the magic.

I agree, that punch was borderline, but Rafael landed alot of low shots throughout the fight and the ref warned him several times

Looking forward to the UFC now...great night of fight action

There are no words that can even do that fight or the trilogy justice.

The judge that scored the fight 114-111 is an incompetent piece of sh!t and needs to be banned from judging. It was a close and incredible fight but Vasquez won. Honestly, that 12th round was a 10-7 round. He had a 10-8 round going before the knockdown, he absolutely dominated him before the knockdown, to the point where you have to score it a 2 point round without the knockdown.

I had Vasquez winning by 2 or 3 points. The punch stats have to be heavily in his favor. He flat out proved who the man is in the 12th. He almost killed him.

Another thing, Al Bernstein is a ****ing moron. I wanted to go thru the TV and beat his ignorant head in. He kept INSISTING that Marquez was dominating Vasquez for the first third of the fight. He would not shut his stupid ass up. He even declared that Marquez had him shut out on the cards until the 5th. When they showed press row scoring that it was an even fight the dumb **** even implied that they were clueless.

What a ****ing idiot! What made it so annoying was that he would not shut up about it. I'm a Marquez fan but there is no way in hell that Marquez was winning every early round, they were even.

Vasquez is a friggin machine. He is the greatest warrior in boxing. Unbelievable heart, there is no one in the game who has his heart.

vasquez is the bigger, naturally stronger man....not neccessarily the better fighter....

i`ll wait for vasquez to move up a weight class, like marquez did....and i`ll make a killing betting against him......

neither guy will be the same after these fights...

a point deduction decides a trilogy like that on the official cards?...that`s a travesty,imo...you guys need to stop thinking with your wallets and be honest...

if those "low blows" were on the cup, instead of being borderline on the belt....if they`d caused a time-out to let vasquez recover...then i`d say,o.k.....

c`mon....both guys landed low...it was a war...

very unfortunate...this tarnishes vasquez` win,too....think of it that way.....

Marquez was a weight felon for the longest when he fought at 118. He put on sick amounts of weight. Here's a funny little fact. When MAB fought Erik Morales the 3rd time, Marquez was on the undercard. MAB walked in the ring against Morales at 130. Rafael actually weighed 133 walking into the ring against Pastrana. Anyways, to me they are pretty close to the same size. Vasquez is stronger and has the better chin but that's part of boxing. As it is his resume is no worse than Marquez's and he beat him 2 of 3, Vasquez has to be considered the better fighter.

Oh and as for the point deduction, how many warnings did Marquez deserve?

So that means if a guy gets 2-3 speeding tickets one day when when he ISN't speeding he gets tagged anyway because he did it before? I was at the fight and he hit Vazquez on the hip/beltline. The ref did a good job overall but he f**cked that one up. But Sly Stallone and Jack Nicholson, along with Barrerra and Morales were sitting in front of us so it wasn't a total loss!

I had the fight 115-115. It was VERY close. The pt deduct would make it 115-114 on my card and that wins Vas the dec. The pt deduct also cost Mar a draw on the judges cards. I thought it was bogus. Those were all borderline belt shots. In a fight this close and well fought I thought Russell blew the call. They were not blatant low shots.

I was hoping for the KO and came within a hair in the last few seconds. Some refs would have stopped it and russell came very close to doing so.

I hope they don't do it again. These fights really take something out of fighters. They tend to get a little chinny after something like that.
Regardless, this was a GREAT fight. I doubt if that will be topped this year.

I don't think any of those low blows were low. But i have to say i thought if there was no title on the line then you could build a case with Marqez winning. Since Vas was the champ i have to give him the decision.

A little rehash but i just watched the replay and I have to say Russel simply blew the call on the "low" shot in rd 10. It was a good liver shot that hurt Vas and not only did Mar get penalized for a clean shot but Vas got a break when he most needed it. The 1st warning was a reaction to Vas saying it was low but it was very borderline. I didn't care who won this...it was a GREAT fight but the bad call gave Vas the win.

i saw one "legit" low blow....and it certainly wasn`t that last hip shot...i also saw several low blows from vasquez that weren`t called...

you decide a fight of this magnitude based on a hip shot in the heat of battle?....in the the "10th" of a war like this?....

vasquez IS the naturally bigger man..marquez was the guy, just like jhonny gonzales...that moved up in weight.....that`s a fact...not speculation....lol

vasquez takes a beating early vs naturally smaller guys...and his natural size advantage, toughness and chin enable him to outlast smaller guys via attrition... that`s how he won these fights...

and when he moves up a weight class as marquez and gonzales did,we can all cash in...

cause he`s limited...and his face first style won`t serve him well vs bigger guys...

maybe we can make a personal wager... if he ever steps up to fight linares/guerero or even chris john....

i`d be surpriesed if he could even out tough orlando salido...
