Floyd hasnt had a big time fight since 2002 when he beat Castillo in 2 fights that year. Both went to the Judges.

Hatton, way past prime Oscar in 2007, Judah, Gatti both wannabes. Good fighters at best. Oscar is probably the most overrated fighter in history.

Floyds career is very much like Roy Jones Jr. Corrales win was good but that was 8 yrs ago.

The weight difference means absolutely nothing. Ask Manny or better yet Hatton. Its such a minor thing yet some of you are letting it weigh on you.

Floyd has never fought a man as tough as Marquez. Castillo was the closest.

I believe Marquez will be 100% ready and Floyd, well he likes to be seen in the rastlin ring.

I see this fight going as Marquez will take alot of early round punches (mostly on the gloves) and stay in tight on Floyd until he connects with the power punches. I see a Marquez ko before 11th round.

Ill take Marquez at +360 and rising

edit

oh oh i am a marquez fan and when newbies start putting out locks that is a bad sign

marquez by KO is prolly the most unlikeliest outcome in this fight

Listen sonny, if you have an opinion, voice it and elaborate if you desire, but it's best not to come in here getting snotty about us "waking up". Your insinuation is that some of us may be brain dead because we don't share your opinion. Take it easy and learn to play nice.:nono:

JMM will lose because he has no real physical advantages in this fight.

And now I am hearing thr fight is not at 143, but 147 (per Steve Kim at maxboxing today).

147! JMM just got to 135. This is an enormous jump. Yes, Pac did it. But Pac hits like a truck and was fighting a corpse.

god bless you,my son...but thats a stretch and 3/4...my opinion is that this will be a relatively easy fight for humble floyd.....unfortunately....

speed and cleverness are not conducive to great marquez performances...marquez at his natural weight is a monster...but guys like lil` hagler, chris john and manny make life difficult for him because they`re either super quick or extremely clever..and look at the scores in the casa fight at the time of stoppage....personally,i thought marquez was way ahead, but,it wasn`t a walk in the park..at least in the eyes of 2 of the judges..

this isn`t a good style match-up for jmm...

and the size?....fuggedaboutit...

he wins here and manny and marquez will deserve a unique place in boxing history...

one thing i`m glad about,though...that marquez has finally eclipsed morales and barrera(imo) as maybe the greatest mexican fighter of his generation....

i think quite a few of us always suspected that was the case...

Again guys Floyd hasnt had a high quality opponent in 7 yrs. And the 1.5 yr lay off will not be helpful.

I totally understand betting on Floyd. Its a massive square/homer bet but I can understand people betting on hype instead of depth.

Way past his prime De La Hoya gave him some fits 2 yrs ago. Manny destroyed Oscar last yr and so would Marquez.

Theres absolutely no value in betting Mayweather. Marquez is 35, the weight gain is very natural and will add to his power. It will not hurt him at all. And Floyd is not a very hard quick puncher anyways. It took him what 11 rds to knock out Hatton. The much smaller (lol) Manny did it in 2.

It will be a very exciting fight thats for sure

GW. I actually liked Oscar also. But Im willing to admit I fell for the homer trap.

The oh Oscar is just a much larger man bs. I didnt think Manny could add that weight and be as effective with the more hyped Oscar.

Oscar wasnt prepared and Manny was.

I dont think Floyd has a chance in this fight. JMM will want it more and be alot more prepared. Floyd has been an overrated clown for years now.

And people are eating it up. This is Oscar/Manny part 2.

steve kim is confused now about the weight:

"OK, can someone please tell me just what the weight limit for the July 18th fight between Floyd Mayweather and Juan Manuel Marquez is? Some have reported that it's 147(the welterweight limit) while others swear it's 144 (which I guess is the super-junior welterweight limit)."

I'm confused too.

First it's supposed to be a catchweight at 144 or the like, then its said to be @147, now its @144 again...

Marquez, for all his awesomeness, just gets hit too much. I can't get past that. I can't fathom him beating Floyd at this kind of weight.

I will be attending JMM's beatdown on July 18th:mj06:

Good to see you on board Mayo! I was hoping you weren't going to pick JMM. I might go to the fight as well. I have a prety hefty amt on Money. I'd be more than shocked to see him lose. I think Money romps here.
