I can't fathom him beating Floyd at this kind of weight

Ill bet you couldnt fathom De La Hoya losing to the much smaller Manny either. Even though Manny weighed in more fight night.

Some of you guys are acting like this is a crazy weight step up. He fought at lower weight because he was a huge man compared to others in his weight division. Marquez is an extremely intelligent man and doesnt need the $$. He wouldnt take this fight if he didnt feel 100% sure he could win. And at +360 thats damn good odds.

Any man that uses Mayorga fan as his username says it all.

I love Mayorga and his very exciting fights also but the guy doesnt have a brain.

Crazy horse said If you bet Marquez, you will lose money.

Well if I remember all of Floyds fights which I have seen and the calibre of fighters I love my odds, but thanks

I was surprised like most others, although I thought Manny was a live dog (like most others). But what is your point here? Manny came up in weight to beat Oscar, therefore Marquez will come up in weight and beat Floyd Mayweather? Does not compute. These are different fighters, this is a different fight.

Just because a few guys in history have climbed up in weight with ease (like Pacquiao, like Henry Armstrong etc), it doesn't mean that all fighters have the same capacity. Its a rare ability, not common one, which is what makes Pacquiao such a special fighter. Which isn't to say Marquez isn't a great fighter...but its silly to assume he can put on massive weight and be effective just because Pacman can.

He fought at lower weight because he was a huge man compared to others in his weight division.

And he's giving up that advantage to fight Floyd somewhere north of 140lbs. Now Floyd will have that edge. You've just acknowledged the very point we've been making.

He wouldnt take this fight if he didnt feel 100% sure he could win. And at +360 thats damn good odds.

What difference does it make if a fighter thinks he can win? That doesn't mean he will win. Corrales, Gatti and Hatton probably thought they could win too. Confidence is good, but a "positive attitude" doesn't always mean positive results.

Well if I remember all of Floyds fights which I have seen and the calibre of fighters I love my odds, but thanks

Your argument, that in recent years Floyd has not fought the best...and therefore will be in tough with Marquez...is a good one. Its the most logical thing you said in your otherwise somewhat obnoxious first post. Why don't you just settle down a bit?

Once again the guys that have hard ons for Floyd cant give logic to their guesses.

A 4/1 fave and nobody has come close to making me nervous about Marquez winning.

Floyd is a good fighter but not a great fighter. His record is 39-0 which on the surface is damn impressive. But when you read between the lines you start to see a career of fighting nobodies and has beens, Castiilo 1 and 2 in 2002, and Corrales in 2001 were his 3 fights I consider close to big time. And those 2 are slightly less than big time fighters (very good but not big time great).

Marquez is 50-4 which on the surface is damn impressive. Yes his max weight for any fight was 135 but 9 lbs means nothing when you are over 4 ft tall. He just never did it because he didnt need to. Now he wants to!

You want to understand the over hype on Mayweather? Just look at 1998. He won fighter of the year, but he fought nobodies and still won the award. Angel Manfreddy was his biggest fight and he sucked.

In 2007 he won the same award. Once again nothing but bs hype. He beat Ricky Hatton (even more overrated than Floyd) and washed up Oscar De La Hoya. And Oscar made it a very tough fight for Floyd. Yet Floyd won the award again. Proof positive that paying $$ to win awards really does work.

Again Ill ask the question. Why would I want to risk $4 to win $1 on a guy that is basically nothing but hype and marketing??

Any logical answers?

................................................................

Because Floyd will knock JMM the fawk out .

I feel like something fishy will be going down in this fight.

Setting up the big money fight that everyone wants to see ..... Pacman Vs Floyd later in the year for the biggest PPV fight in history.

Lets see Bob Arum is involved.

Dont you think that JMM may just take the dive for some big cash in his pocket. He is at the point where he could walk away.

There is nothing funny about boxing, nothing.

Well Scott I appreciate the attempt at logic. But you failed miserably.

The only people who want to see Manny/Floyd are squares and people who want to see Floyd exposed as the overhyped fraud he is and get his ass whooped.

JMM wouldnt take a fight just for the $$ let alone take a dive.

Again Ill ask the question, why would I want to risk $4 to win $1 on a guy that is basically nothing but hype and marketing.

Somebody, anybody??

....................................................

here is some logic to that one

:142smilie :142smilie

they all fight for the money. wtf kind of thinking is that. If they could make as much money doing something else, there is no way they would be in the fight business.

Fixes in boxing are not inconceivable. Money talks and weiners walk.

where is Thong when I need him

39-0 record Vs JMM who is stepping way up in weight for him. Floyd wants it that way.

JMM in over his head in this fight. JMM will be happy to walk with the second place finish.

Floyd has eevery single physical advantage in this fight. JMM's only advantage is he has been more active lately. Of course he's been taking abuse in those fights so I don't know if that's really an advantage either. What I know is this, I won't lay 4-1 on Floyd but JMM isn't a very good underdog. He won't win. You can talk about what "fradulent" competition Floyd has gone against all you want, it don;t take away his advantages in this fight.

What does JMM bring that Floyd hasn't seen before? Speed? No Floyd has fought faster guys. Toughness? Nope Floyd has fought guys with better chins. Power and strength? LOL, no. So the answer is nothing. JMM brings nothing into the ring that Floyd hasn't seen before.

Mayorga fan basically wasted 2 minutes of his life on that mumbo jumbo attempt at logic.

Every physical advantage to Floyd???

I won't lay 4-1 on Floyd but JMM isn't a very good underdog. He won't win.

For a guy that says this is a no-brainer its funny to see 4/1 odds scares the sht out of you.

JMM goes into fight nights 10-13 lbs heavier than at weigh in the day before. He weighs 145 and up always. This fight is 144. Id say easy advantage to JMM.

I think its quite obvious you have never watched a JMM fight in the last 8 yrs.

JMM has fought alot bett, tougher fighters than over hyped pretty boy has. And thats whats known as logical facts.

Scott, like you Ive seen many fixed fights. If Floyd wins I dont want to see a Manny/Floyd fight. Floyd hasnt earned that right. JMM deserves #3 after being ripped off against Manny last yr.

Ya boiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii you've been schooled. Always wanted to say that.

I will take JMM's word over yours. He has talked about how he has to put on the extra weight because he's not naturally that big. He wouldn't be talking like that if he was a natural 144 pounder. That is a fact. It's not like size is Floyd's only advantage anyways. He's faster and hits harder as well.
