I'm afraid government is setting up the medical system for a big fall.....then the Feds can say, We told ya so. Then we'll be looking for advice from London and Ottawa on how to set up our own Socialized Medical System. Hillary's probably dusting off her 3,000 page report as we speak

The best and brightest will run from med schools if that happens.

Dr. Freeze: Notice I show the proper respect. As a small business owner I'm rather sensitive to these escalating costs and any class action Law Suit, especially one potentially retroactive, concerns me. What really bothers about this is the Med students are not just trying to change the "slave labor" system which in of itself I can understand, but also going after money (BIG, HUGE MONEY). Perhaps they/you just want reasonale hours and reasonable compensation and the money is the bagaining chip they're/you're willing to concede. Or they/you and the Lawyers want the whole enchilada resulting in a check for each Med student for $50,000 and that well deserving Law firm gets, oh, $500,000,000. Why not instead get the ACLU INVOLVED AND CHANGE THIS BARBARIC, CRUEL, AND INHUMANE SYSTEM...I'm not a fan of the ACLU but they can do something good once in while(MAYBE)

I hate to see good intentions in juxtaposition with greed.

Ryson, have you thought about just getting the tubes anyway? Might require some sacrifices, but if that's what your boy needs, isn't it worth it? (I have no idea how much this costs, if it costs $100,000.00 I'm being an insensitive jerk, if it costs a couple of thousand, that's another story).

Nighthorse,

Yea I have thought about it, but anytime a 15 mo. old has to go under the knife it tends to bother me. Granted it is a fairly simple procedure but it is still an operation. In regards to price; thank God it's not an issue for me and I have the means to pay for it - even if it was 100K, I am griping about they system itself.

I read some time ago that the life expectancy of MD's was much less than the general populace. Is their any truth to this?

Folks collision car repair is the same the insurance companies DICTATE the procedures and parts used to hold costs down which would be OK if passed along to the policyholder in lower premiums, but come on now QUIT IT do you see that happening.

Yes airbags do save life's and they are very expensive to replace, but IF you have an accident in your 2-3 yr old car do you want used parts or aftermarket stuff? Sorry this got :topic: but the insurance thing got me going.

Father knows best.....I can appreciate your amazement at how the system works. I just glad it's a medical decision and finances aren't playing a role. I'm sure you'll do what's best. You have to weight which is riskier.

Ear infections are awful, I hope your son gets better soon.

Nighthorse,

What sucks about it is Father doesn't know best in this case, I am going off of others opinions and direction. To me family history says it all, but healthcare is not my profession. I am really on the fence about the whole deal, because I work in the computer industry and there has been MANY times when people know better than I, then come back and say damn I wish I would have done it that way. I am not saying that I know it all, if I don't have real world scar tissue with a particular subject I will be the first to say "I don't know" and ask questions. Since I have a kid and all who have kids know that they have to go to the doctor alot. Heck I'm a guy, the last time I went to the doctor I had to because I was really sick and it was a pain because I had to find a doctor who was taking new patients and all that good stuff. When I was a kid we had Kaiser, showed them the card got taken care of. Now it's provider network this, co-pay that yada, yada yada, what really slays me is that when I leave the doctors office with the lad and the lady says what is your co-pay? I reply I like zero, but that never flies and I make them look it up.

What's Sad I believe it could be Sad. We may end up with what Mrs. Clinton tried to tell us 8 years ago. So far she is starting to look smarter then I thought she was. Price of drugs alone in USA up 400% in last 4 years. God tell be there wrong and it's only 300%. I know my copay for insurance where I work has tripled just in last two years. The copay for drugs has done the same. My last two increases in pay have gone manly for these increase in insurance and drugs. Im lucky Im still working. How about the older folks that are not. Hell what about some of the young ones that work part time and go to school. They can't afford to get sick. They better drink lot's of beer keep the germs out of there bodies. Oh by the way what to you call someone whos goes to school for 20 years. A want tobe Doctor. How about if they went for 21 years. A Doctor. ;)
