Retailer Kewal Sachdev, who sold this ticket, gets $1 million...

Sachdev locals say is a neighborhood favorite, funny and very personable guy...San Jose, CA...I read:

California Lottery said in a statement, "This business will receive the maximum retailer bonus from the Lottery of $1 million just for selling the lucky ticket...not to mention the flood of publicity now heading its way. (The retailer bonus is not subtracted from the winner's jackpot prize.)"

As the Sachdevs stood Wednesday morning in front of a bank of television cameras outside Ernie?s with lottery officials holding their ginormous check, he proudly reflected on his good fortune since moving from India nearly four decades ago.

?We?ve realized the dream that we longed for,? he said. ?If you work hard, you can succeed ? this country has given us the opportunity to do that.?

Ernie's Liquors owner Kewal Sachdev, from left, Rakesh Sachdev and Kirpal Atwal check the California Lottery's website to see if the store was the only one ...

I remember illegal Mexican from SJ in 1985 won the lotto...for his payout, he opted for $70,000 a year for 20 years...INS was alerted to his status via the news reports, and this 24-year-old bachelor furniture deliveryman was promptly deported....he returned to his hometown of Apatzingan, Mexico. Bought a house and a pickup truck, said he's laying low and quiet.

Then in 1992 he was caught trying to sell heroin to an undercover police officer at a West Los Angeles restaurant. At his trial he asked for a court-appointed lawyer. The judge swiftly rejected the request...Deputy Dist. Atty. Jeffrey McGrath quoted the judge as saying. "You can kiss my foot."

"Plan to keep working"....they always seem to say that....

11 co-workers win $543 million Mega Millions jackpot, plan to keep working

By Jonathan Raymond

A lump-sum payment from the jackpot would amount to #320.5 million.

(RNN) ? A group of 11 office workers who made a ?spur of the moment? decision to pool together for Mega Millions have been announced as the winners of last week?s $543 million jackpot.

The winning ticket was sold in San Jose, CA. The California Lottery announced the winners on Friday.

Only one of the group of 11, Roland Reyes, was identified.

?It was spur of the moment. ?Hey, did you hear about the jackpot? We should play,?? Reyes said of the group?s decision to buy tickets together.

He said that, despite the life-changing payout, everyone plans to keep working at their current company.

?We want to keep our jobs,? Reyes said. ?We love that company. We love what we?ve built there. We have a good time and want to stay together.?

?We?re just normal people!? he added.

The California Lottery did not identify the company. In its press release, the organization said, ?The winners decline to speak with the media ? No further information about them will be released.?

The lottery also did not say if the winners had decided to take a lump-sum payment of $320.5 million, or to accept annual payments spread out over 30 years.

If they took the lump payment, it would amount to more than $29 million per person in the group of 11.

The lottery said the other, unidentified winners mentioned ?paying off mortgages, kids? college tuition, helping family members, going back to school and, of course, travel.?

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The winners of a $522 million Mega Millions jackpot have stepped forward.

Cal Lottery officials said Friday the winners of the July 24 drawing were 11 members of an office pool, and despite winning nearly $47.5 million each, they don?t plan to quit their jobs!

?It was spur of the moment. ?Hey, did you hear about the jackpot? We should play,'" one of the winners, Roland Reyes, told Cal Lottery.

Everyone pitched in $2 for a huge return!

Reyes said the group works in the financial industry. The pool members? ages range from 21 to 60.

None of them plan to quit their jobs, despite the huge pay day.

"We want to keep our jobs,? one winner said in a statement released by Mega Millions. ?We love that company. We love what we?ve built there. We have a good time and want to stay together.?

The winning ticket was sold at Ernie?s Liquors in San Jose. Reyes said the group figured they had a better chance at winning if they bought their tickets from a small shop.

The owner of Ernie's Liquors received a $1 million bonus for selling the jackpot ticket, lottery officials said.

It?s the second major lottery jackpot won in San Jose over the past few years. In 2013, someone won $640 million.

They will quit sooner than later

these people have no idea of the lack of privacy they are about to experience.

everyone of them will have to move to a gated community of some sort..

Cal. state tax will hit them hard but each will have those millions that bring relatives out of the woodwork ..thieves waiting for their chance and tv crews waiting on the story.

better start looking for that livin-in/investment pad now...

One of the 11, Robert Reyes, represented the group as the news was unveiled Friday through a news release.

Mr. Reyes and his 10 friends will be well known before the end of August.

California Lottery can try to do good by them ...which is fantastic..but news hounds and grocery store rags sheets will hunt them down..

Stone cold lock of the week.

After a quick Facebook search, I've found just 7,498 "Robert Reyes" living in the greater San Jose area.....I should have this solved by the end of the week...?:0003
