Just posting in this conference for the season. No long winded write ups, there are many here that do so much better than I. Just the plays and units.
Will try to best the +30 units of last season. There may be some better numbers out there, I just pulled these from Bookmaker to keep things simple.

Akron/ Penn St over 58' 5 units
Akron +26' 1 unit ( homer play)
W Mich +12' 3 units
Miami O under 47' 2 units
Purdue -10' 3 units
Purdue under 50' 2 units
C Mich +13' 1 unit
Ohio U under 46 2 units
Ohio U +3' 2 units
Utep -8 2 units

I will not play this many games again this year but feel that week one offers more value to an informed player that does their homework. Hopefully it will work out well.

Best of luck for a great season to all !!

Good question Hawk,

Obviously they will try to get Jarvis rolling on the ground. He's a special talent( only about 5'5") and probably the best RB in the conference by far now that Starks is lost for the season for Buffalo. Other than Jarvis, the skilled positions are largely manned by untested underclassmen.

Last year the special teams were a train wreck with kicker Reed blowing a couple of games. He returns this season.

The D looks to be in good shape with quite a few kids back to play Martin's 4/3.

I don't think much of Martin as a coach so I will take a wait and see approach with kent. I will look for some under plays for sure though as the ball will be in the hands of Jarvis and on the ground a lot.

I have a good feeling about Akron this season. They finally get out of that dumpy rubber bowl and have a beautiful new on campus venue. The Zips have a lot back and are healthy going in to the season. Hopefully Penn St won't beat them up too bad.

Hope you have a great season Hawk and thanks to IE !!

Spang - Hope all is well brother. Good to see you back again for another year.

Was just about to post the Akron over, so REALLY love that this is your biggest play of week one. I am going to up it a unit. Also like the Ohio under, but I was leaning towards the over on Purdue, seemed real low to me.

Talk to me on that one:shrug:

Spang best of luck this season...... no thoughts on Bowling green? I think troy beats them up but always respect your MAC thoughts.

Thanks Irish, You may be correct but BG has a lot back and were in just about every game they played last year. Just a few plays kept them from having a really good season. I've learned that when it comes to BG to expect the unexpected. I tend to stay away from their games.

My thoughts are that Toledo may struggle to score at all and Purdue May well shut it down in the 2nd half when it gets out of hand. If Toledo manages to put up 10-14 pts it may well go over. I just don't think that they will.

Good luck this year skipper

Good luck this season Spang. Hope you are feeling better. I might try to get out your way to see that new stadium.

Thanks friend, I'm hanging in there .I hope you can make it down for a game. By all accounts the new venue has exceeded all previous expectations. I am now officially retired and am free to go just about any where at any time. If you and Spacks want to come down to a game just let me know.

Good luck this year.. I am on Akron, They were in a lot of tight games last year, plus they are bringing a lot back from last year.. Just think they can get enough done offensively to pull within the number. I am gettting 27 now but I am going to wait until game time to see if I can get 28.. Think the public may pound State on Saturday.. Oh I just love talkingg about football again..

Yeah, waiting might just pay off. I think the Zips could be the real sleeper in the league this year. They have brought in Walt Harris and ex Miami coach Montgomery to help out. As you said, they have a lot back and the QB now should have the experience to cut down on his TOs . Bottom line for the Zips is that the defense must improve. I think they will but I worry a bit about their front gettting pushed around a bit. The secondary is solid and hopefully will not allow the big play.

Adding:

EMU -5' three units

Spackler got me to take a better look at this one. Just too much offense for Army to cover

Hey Spang...good to see you back in action. I agree about the Eastern offense because they are experienced, well rounded, and will have a disciplined approached this year. Schmitt is the the third best quarterback in the state, but he is still better than the kids the two state schools have!

I was already to have Mia/Ky as an ov 47' but am backing away as your the man in the MAC and don't want to go against you. Ky has a bye week after this so see them trying everything-see KY with edges in all areas but Mi does have their skill people back--but I think their LB'ers will hurt them. Liking the over (47') but will not list it as a play. GL

Don't let me talk you out of it Hawk. I just don't see where Miami is going to find much offense. But you are right in that they did take a hit on the other side of the ball so your guess is certainly as good as mine.

I just always favor unders in this type of setting. Miami knows that they have to hold them down to have a chance. If the cats do indeed push it out pretty good I still think that they would be best served. to shut it down late.

Agree Spacks, Hell, Schmitt may throw for even more yardage than the guys at Western and Central this year.

He'll have to because Eastern will probably give up 30+ a game in the confernce
