This game should never have been allowed to start.....now that they have passed 5 innings, they are committed to finish this game no matter what the conditions.

You can't award a World Series crown to a team based on a shortened game.

No matter who wins tonight, it was a travesty to play in these conditions.

They should have cancelled and waited till tomorrow, which was an off day.

To play all season, and have the World Series affected playing in conditions like this?

It ain't right - for either team.

A baseball game becomes official for moneyline wagering purposes after 4 1/2 innings if home team is winning, or 5 innings if visiting team is winning.
If a game is cancelled or suspended, the winner is determined by the score after the last full inning (unless the home team scores to tie, or takes the lead in the bottom half of the inning, in which case the winner is determined by the score at the time the game is called).

Hope it gets called I have Philly. It would be a win!:00hour

this is a total shi- show. This needs to be looked at by the mlb. the umpires against both sides is ridiculous. They should never be in a series again. lets have the players decide the game. Win or lose. sad.

That is f**king bull*it, I can't catch a god damn break to save my life.

Can you believe they would have called this and Phil would have won 2-1 if TB didn't score there?

Lee - there was no way they were calling it then.

Here's the problem: once they started (they never should have), they felt they couldn't call it due to Cole Hamels being on the mound - the Phillies best pitcher. If they called it in the 4th (as they should have once they made the decision to start), the game would have been replayed in it's entirety - and Hamels would have been wasted. The Phillies would have been livid.

MLB, seeing as they played in the bad conditions since the 4th, couldn't stop the game until it ended or until TB tied the score. They didn't want to end the World Series due to a shortened game.

Bottom line - they never should have started the game - Pena took MLB off the hook. The only way they would have stopped the game is if someone got seriously hurt due to the conditions.

MLB looks awefully stupid now, even starting the game.

Given late October baseball, it is probably time for baseball to consider a neutral site for the World Series due to weather issues, just like the NFL does.

This never used to be an issue, but now with the expanded playoffs, 3 rounds of them, that the weather in Northern Cities is no longer condusive to baseball at the end of October.

Well, they said they were delaying it no matter what if TB scored or not.

a big reason they also should shorten season is due to fact football is so big now. MLB getting lost in Oct. Have playoffs and world series before football starts and you keep much more fans in it.
agreed, once football starts, who cares about baseball
