MMA Recap: UFC Fight Night 17

Leaderboard:
kickserv +3.975
BUCSnotYUCKS +1.0
rawlin007 +0.5
weepaul +0.4

See if I scored these correctly this time around. If I do this, I will only include plays that list out the fighter, the odds, and the number of units on the play.

kegray's are going to be tough to include because he uses dollar amounts and not units, but it's not a big deal.

Thoughts?

The way I have been picking MMA of late then you dont want to follow me.
I was +$23 on the evening for UFN17 I guess that translates to +.23 units or is it .023.

Are we saying a unit is 100 or the % of your avg wages type?

I have never been big on the unit idea because I am all over the map at times.

And where are your unit totals?

I was going on an individuals unit structure. 1.2 units for one person may mean $120 but it could mean $36 for another person.

I can't remember what the total I figured up for you but it was slightly on the losing side. Not sure why that is.

If this is something people are interested in, I'll try and keep track. The only way I will be able to do it accurately is if people post their plays with their side, the odds that you got it at, and the units (or dollars) wagered.

No biggie if someone doesn't want to participate. Just trying to emulate what they have over in the golf forum.

I had you at -27 with the addition of $50 on Rosholt.

That was my bad. I wasn't paying that attention to my totals in each sport as I had plays in MMA.Nascar, and NCAA last night,
Like I said I am all over the map these days and need to tone it down and focus on the important plays I like and get back to winning.
I was -$27 because of the late and apparent foolish Rosholt play.

I guess I need to stick to Nascar because last season was great for me and am in the + already this season.
I can't remember the last great MMA night for me.

Ohio but not a Buckeye
I didn't post all of my plays, only posted the Rumble play with the line at the time because I was occupied with other things.

However, I had Rumble and Lauzon straight up, then parlayed them with Cain.

Good idea for the future and I'll be sure to post my plays more closely.

The next event will start the "official" results since nobody knew.

I'll try to keep an event by event then a running total.

The way kickserv lays out his plays make it very easy to to track.

Also, if a post is edited, then it will not count.

Just submit a NEW post with any changes that you want to notate BEFORE the fight starts.

I am open to any suggestions.

Good idea dawg....pretty much can only do that in "off the wall" and "golf"...anywhere else on here you'd have guys bashing.

Keep in mind there are lots of mma guys on here that post plays on other MMA organizations...not just the UFC:SIB

Oh and your calculator won't be able to keep track of weepaul's bets...that dude bets like 3 million a fight:scared

gmroz does make a valid point....you can calculate a variety of different ways...whatever is easier for dawg should be the way to go.

But fwiw...here is how I would calculate the plays you posted.

FighterX -160 (2 units)

Fighter X odds = $1.63 x 2.00 units = 3.26

Total profit from Fighter X = 1.26 units (3.26 - 2.00)

Fighter X made you 1.26 units

Example # 2

FighterY +200 (1.5 units)

Fighter Y odds = $3.00 x 1.5 units = 4.50

Total profit from Fighter Y = 3.00 (4.5 - 1.5)

Fighter Y made you 3.00 units

Again, whatever dawgball decides is what he should use....guess it all depends on "Risk" or "To Win"

In the case of weepaul it always has about 7 or 8 zeros:142smilie

And yes, sometimes 5dimes (and some other non sponsor books) have lines on "obscure events", can keep track of lines here:

http://www.bestfightodds.com/

As for schedule of the non UFC events...can sort of keep track here:

http://www.mmaweekly.com/rumors.asp

http://www.sherdog.com/events

Basically, I was thinking if someone posts a thread for an event, we could keep the record for it.

Post a thread with event title and date, and I'll check it. I think the more obscure events are where the most money is probably to be made.

So starting with the next MMA event posted, I'll "try" to get this going.

To have a play counted, your post must follow these rules:

1. Side you are betting on (parlays count)
2. Odds of your bet (I'm not verifying them so be honest)
3. Number of units for each play (kegray's are no problem either if he wants to post dollar amounts)
4. ALL edited posts will be ignored. No exceptions. If you post a new comment to a thread with a correction prior to the fight starting, that will be counted.
5. (optional) The way kickserv writes out his wagers is an easy to follow format. You don't have to use the colors and all, but separating out into bullet points is nice. :)

If there is interest in this, I'll try to do it. Any person that bashes me for a mistake will be removed from being tracked. Please let me know about any mistakes that I make; just don't be a prick about it.

How do you guys do the calculations when someone says:

FighterX -160 (2 units)

-OR-

FighterY +200 (1.5 units)

I posted my previous post before reading yours. I'm looking at units wagered as "to lose" unless otherwise stated. I would "assume" that you mean this with those two plays.

Fighter X
2 units wagered @ -160
Win = +1.25 units
Loss = -2.00 units

Fighter Y
1.5 units wagered @ +200
Win = +3.00 units
Loss = -1.5 units

Thoughts?

Total profit from Fighter X = 1.26 units (3.26 - 2.00)

Fighter X made you 1.26 units

Where do you get $1.63 in this example? I don't understand.

Dawg.....that's totally fine....I was just showing how I do it....that's all...

As for GW...I tried to explain the "decimal/european odds" to him....I gave up after two hours:mj07:

He tried though....I give him credit:142smilie
