I had Clijsters to win the Aussie Open and I felt bad after Kim lost to Serena. Kim did choke. But it was Serena who made the comeback which made it a little easier to take, than Enqvist on clay coming back today.
A few minutes ago, I recalled a bet from last year. I bet on Kafelnikov over Gaudio in a Davis Cup match. I think Kafelnikov was -300. It was played in Russia on carpet where Kafelnikov was virtually unbeatable in the past.
YK won 3-6,7-5, 6-3,2-6,8-6. Here is the kicker. Gaudio had the 5th set virtually won. I believe he led either 5-0 or 5-1 and Kafelnikov won 8-6. I remember as I was watching that match on the computer w/ real time scoring and had already put it down as a loss in my book. So, yes Gaudio has melted down before. Maybe he learned somethign from that meltodown last year, and it helped him today.
By the way, due to the rain, they were playing on indoor clay at Dusseldorf today. Oh, and under the clay is Ice. They are playing at the ice stadium. Clay is slippery enough, but w/ ice underneath.
