Texas tech -1.5 over Texas

Same reason I picked Nova yesterday, they are not the better team, but home cooking will prevail, okay okay, Nova loss, but it's because they choked and had a TON of turnovers. I don't think that will happen to Texas Tech. As much as I hate the arrogant overbearing Bobby Knight, I think he will get his troops ready and the crowd will be rockin!! That's good enough for me.

WHO'S WITH ME???!!?!

I'm pretty sure Red Raider's with you. :)

Personally, I'm a little shocked that the line is currently in Tech's favor and if you are taking them, it would be a good idea to wait until tipoff because I will guaran damn tee you that Texas will be the favorites before the buzzer sounds.

I'll give you some tidbits to chew on:

Since the Horns lost at Houston in Rick Barnes' first game at UT in the 1998-99 season opener, UT has won 27 straight games against in-state opponents entering Monday's game vs. Tech.

I have no doubt TT will fill up USA on Monday. Also, I watched the atm/TT game and atm was definitely playing better than they usually do. That said, the sand aggies will have to play their best game to beat us...even in a full USA. Their house where we have won four straight by an average of 14 points en route to winning 9 in a row and 10 of the last 11.

what makes you think that Bobby Knight will have his Red Raiders prepared after getting their asses whipped a day before?

Texas plays the same style ball as Oklahoma and the best 5 players on the court 4 will be wearing burnt Orange.....this will be a laugher......

The only way Tech wins is if UT can't shoot (which they have done very well as of late), the refs are homers AND call it close (which is rare in the Big 12), Tech controls the tempo, Tech does not turn it over, Tech can stay close on the boards, and Tech plays the best game of the season as of yet.

With all this happening, it will be a close game. Then you must have fortune on your side as well.

I personally would rather bet on the rule rather than the exception.......Texas by 15..........

hi

hi

Throw out all the games and trends between Texas vs Texas Tech in the past because this is a new Texas Tech team with Bobby Knight.

Dr Freeze,
You were making a lot of sense, until I read "Texas by 15"!! Texas might win like you said, but by double digits?? A lot of people would say Texas will win, but only someone from the state of Texas would say the Long horns will win big. Unless Texas Tech is playing someone like Duke, I don't see them getting beat by double digits by anyone in the nation on their home court, let alone the Long horns. Texas tech won't take this game for granted especially after getting their azz kicked in their last game, and their is even double motivation for them because they are coming home to play and it's against the longhorns.

The only way TT wins this game........well.....let me take that back...I really dont think they will win for one reason alone......their was a post I read and can't figure out who posted it but it hit the nail right on the head with this TT team......Any team that has the players to dominate inside on this TT team will give them trouble all year long.......A&M did it!!!! Oklahoma did it!!! And Texas definitely has the players to absolutely destroy their interior defense......I think the offensive rebounds will really hurt Tech tonight so I will take the points and ride with UT until Knight figures out how to play some interior defense.

FYI--Don't be suprised if James Thomas has 15+ boards tonight along with 6-8 offensive boards.....he had 17 boards alone against Princeton's total of 20!!!!!!!!

You're right....trends mean nothing so let me give it to you raw.

If UT doesn't win this game by 8-10 points, I'll be thoroughly surprised. Tech has 3 players - Ellis, Powell and Andre Emmett. That's it. Knight's done a good job to get 13 wins out of that team, regardless of the competition. But as Saturday indicated, it gets ugly when Tech matches up w/ quality talent. And we go 10 deep w/ that talent. I don't see tech winning this game, even in Lubbock. May be close for a 1/2, but that's it.

Tech squeaked by the conference's laughing stock of A&M and lost to Sam Houston St, under Bobby Knight! All road games are tough but the Horns are playing very good BB right now. TT record just like Baylor...was built on alot of weak sisters. I think we showed BU was over rated. I don't know, has Tech beaten a non-directional public university yet this season? Like freeze mentioned, we're used to playing big games in tough arenas, tech is not. Gallagher-Iba is one of the toughest in the nation and they couldn't match that in their wildest dreams.

I think the smart money is on Texas but it's your call....GL

Texas tech is also from Texas where I am from.......i am not a Texas fan either......am indifferent as far as the two teams are concerned but am a big 12 fan........someone from the state of Texas probably knows a little more about this game though than someone who is not......

also.......Bobby Knight is not a miracle worker and cannot take mediocre players and turn them into stars......

freeze,

Jack has the private messaging disabled so this is the only way I could tell you this....since you have atleast 1000 posts, you can have an avatar under your name like hellah, MadJack, and a few others have.

201.gif

submit this to jack via e-mail and he should be able to upload it to his server.

Looks like I only have 800 more posts to go before I can get my Horns! :D

Oh it would be nice!!!!

Tech comes in with a 7-1 home record, including wins against K State, TCU and Wyoming.

Tech indeed has not had a very hard schedule, but Texas schedule hasn't been too difficult either. Some of their "quality" wins come against TX-P.A., McNeese, C. Christi. to name a few.

Tech will play hard, trust me they will be more fired up playing Texas at home, than they have been all year.

These 2 teams come in statistically very even.

Offense For FG% 3P% FT% Reb.

Texas 78.9 45.8 39.8 66.9 37.6

TX Tech 80.6 45.7 34.3 69.8 38.3

Defense Agst. FG% 3P% FT% Reb.

Texas 70.2 40.7 35.4 66.8 30.6

TX Tech 69.1 39.7 34.7 66.7 36.4

Techs loss against Oklahoma was the first in the last 10 outings and the outcome will largly depend on Knights ability to adjust to the obvious lack of a inside big guy.

I look for a hard fought contest with the line being fairly accurate. I agree with FM that maybe the line should be TU -1. I doubt that this will be a double digit win by Texas!

A win tonight will be huge for the Raiders, not to mention it would shut FM up. (OK it probably won't, but it would be nice...LOL)

The game is on ESPN tonight, so enjoy watching everyone.

Mr Raider......the TT schedule is VERY soft....look at who you played man....Geezus......why don't you name the teams that UT has played like for instance the first 5 games of the season: 1. ARIZONA 2. OREGON ST. 3. @GONZAGA 4. @INDIANA 5. STANFORD

As far as even stats.....I guess you could say that but people should not look at it in that way because of the Cracker Jack schedule TT has played thus far......

i think beating stanford is probably a quality win?...and yes the osu game was in large part due to osu's star player missing most of the game, but even w/o him, osu has more talent than tech..and while they may rely on their shooters too much, they still have guys that can take you off the dribble and drive, mouton and ivey have good one on one games..ford and williams both provide good penetration from the pt spot..hey red raider, go paint your face and get ready, i don't think most people here are betting this b/c they love UT(that is UT not tu) but b/c they perceive value in this line....

Who said "no quality wins"? I didn't!!! I was just pointing out some of their light weights.

I'm not sure why everyone is in such a tizzie. Texas has had a tougher schedule, but they lost against most of their quality oppenents. YES the win against OSU was a good one.

Tech has had a easier schedule and has won all but 2 of them, which they should've.

Is Texas a better team, Yeh I think they are. I'm just saying don't discount Tech at Home, against Texas.

Wigs

I know, the line probably is a little off (as I mentioned above). All I'm doing here is representing my school, win or lose. Because, well, thats what your supposed to do! All in fun guys.

Tech may be at the bottom of the standings and I'm still gonna represent!!

I know its UT. Just a little jab!
