YYZ, I know a local Bookie here who had the same problem. He got caught on a line that he messed up. The bettors won and he paid them. I asked if he was mad and he said no if he is going to book bets then he should have paid closer attention. Come on if you see a guy drop a thousand dollars do you think the average guy would give it back. Especially, if he didnt know he dropped it.

I say this and I really don't care what Sportbooks say. Its a full time job for them so they should at least put the right line up. If they mess up I too would pound it especially if there was a chance to middle it.

Just me

On the course!
Finding money on the street is one thing....if you saw the guy drop it, and you do not give it back, that is another.

This topic comes along everytime a guy post this type of thread....I will always be on the moral side of this issue....it is wrong to take that shot.

I am not a saint, but I am a fair person.

Just last week, Saturday as a metter of fact, I went to the store to get a steak. The Porterhouse looked great, so I grabbed a nice 20oz.

I looked at the price, and it said $1.97lb!!!!

I knew that had to be wrong. I checked the other steaks.....$7.22lb.

I could have walked up and bought that steak, but I could not have eaten it with a clear concience. I told the lady stocking the shelves, about the mix-up, and she thanked me. Again, not looking for sainthood, but just doing the right thing.

By the way, that was the day I lost my entire account through dumb ass wagering.

Each will do what he will, but I will never hang my head due to taking a cheap shot at making some money.

Just so everyone knows, Bookie called me at halftime (to whoever was bashing me, the last time the bookie screwed up, he let everyone know that whatever is left on the voice mail, he is responsible for so fuhk you) anyway bookie called me at half time and said he screwed up, he said he would eat the loss. Thanks, Raymond, you are an excellent capper, keep up the excellent work, and I look forward to your posts.

One last note, I called the bookie an hour before tipoff and asked him to verify the line, he said it was CSFull -6.5, told him I wanted SanFran for $$$$ and he said he liked CSFull. I gave the bookie ample opportunity to correct his mistake. I am a networking engineer for a large company, if all of a sudden the network went down because of a mistake that I could have looked on a piece of paper and avoided no one would pat me on the back.

Adignan,

Your bookie said he liked CS Fullerton because there was so much action on SF that he wanted you to bet Fullerton and cut the losses he was going to incur! LOL. . .

To those who believe Adignan did something wrong, let me just say that bookies are not all honest either! I know of many that will hand out shitty lines to uneducated cappers instead of an honest line and take advantage of them in a similar fashion as if a bettor took advantage of a bookie because the line was obviously off! For example, if a favorite in college football was favored by 10 points at all Vegas casinos, the bookie may set a line at 12 for those who like the favorite and 7 for those who like the dog! This gives them a 5 point cover where they would win EVERY bet placed on that game if the favorite won by 8 to 11 points! If the favorite won by 7 or 12, he would still come out a winner.

In the end, one could argue that the bettors have the choice and should restrain from taking advantage of such a line. . . however, the bookies have a choice also!

Adignanz: The whole purpose of betting is to out think your line supplier. You did this and koudos to you. Being sharp is as much as your job as is your bookie. I have made bets on spur of the moment that looked moronic on further review as I'm sure most gamblers have done. However, I was never allowed to 'take it back' or switch sides because I screwed up. Well, this is one case in which your book screwed up.....and I'm sure you've done it way more than he. I say chalk one for the good guys and congratulations on your awareness.

P.S. Hook me up with your man!
