Awesome weather here in Calif!
Fantasy Baseball drafting (1 down, 2 to go!)!

Had biggg win on Usc OVer, Ucla and Ucla OV (great shot for OT!)
6 unders innarow Sat/Sun til Bama hit the shot, and then Usc killed the Ducks inna rout :00hour
I did bet Oregon (cuz of the "go opposite public on last gm" theory) but had a hedge 3tm par to offset my 2 Ore pars.. a losing wk, but a good Sunday to cut losses.

I'm playing w/house money, and going to trust in my observations and factor in other's thoughts...

MONDAY Lines/Thoughts:

1). Ore St+8 vs Houston... total 129
HOU: I've seen 2 gms.. vs Memphis for Conf title.. and vs Syr..
The DO play hard, tough defense.. but struggle offensively.
I like Grimes.. he can shoot from deep, and drive and dish/finish.. but nobody else looked good on offense to me... nobody.
Is their defense better than Loy-Chi's was...? similar yes.
ORE ST: Names escape me lol... they've got 2 big men that alternate effectively. the big horse that's too big to cover.. and the more athletic backup, plays better defense.
Their glue is Thompson the guard.. never seems to miss a FT.. handles the ball under pressure.. hits some big shots (usually mid-range).. they've got a lefty that can shoot and another big guy and small quick guard that also launch the 3.. think the lefty's the only reliable among em.
COACHING: BOTH know their way around the court, won't be mistakes there I think.. but I DO think that Tinkle has created a "calming" mindset that has taken hold on his team.. to me, Houston seems "frantic".. overly intense on defense which makes em tighten up on offense..
just MY take as I see it. I was one of those kind of players way bk when lol... defend, rebound, distribute the ball to get everyone involved.. which led to sometimes not being comfortable shooting it myself.. I got over that a few yrs after I got out of school lol

first, lemme remind folks how much I LIKE Musselman (Ark Coach).. love his intensity, his preparedness, his energy he gives his players...
I watched him for 2 yrs at Nev/Reno.. up-tempo, push in transition..
they're gonna give a total effort.. and if when they fall behind, they're not afraid to trap, and pressure, and go full press to try and catchup.

I think Baylor and Gonzaga are the 2 best teams all yr, and expect them to meet in the finals...
Baylor is very athletic, great shooting and ball-handling guards, energetic forwards that will board and outlet for fast breaks...
Scott Drew also VERY solid, and obviously a great recruiter!

Summary: Should be a great game! But I expect Baylor's thicker bodies to get a few more key rebounds/follows leading to their eventual victory.. hopefully pulling away to cover!
I'm waiting to see how things develop before going straight play.
I also Expect the OVER to come in for this game!

yeah I went to Venice Beach last yr... it was a gorgeous day there too!

I live in Orange Co. bout 5 miles from Disneyland...
and the weather here has been pretty spectacular the last wk or so...

Maybe you're not having a good day, but I didn't mean to trigger wildfire talk... they're terribly horrific.. There's been way too many of em esp these last few yrs.. Northern Cal's been hit esp hard...
it's a very large state hammerman.. 40+ million ppl... and the northern half gets a LOT more rain than where I live... so it's relative.

may end up moving away from the state for cost of living purposes lol, but the weather in So Cal is pretty damn good to what I see around the rest of the country...

get this...

before the start of the Baylor gm, I was trying to cook a steak dinner for 2, and check the 2 sites I chk for new posts, info... and make some plays on the game as I liked Baylor and the OV..

So..
I've got 2 diff windows open into the betting site, and going bk and forth into the backyard to deal w/the BBQ.. and the kitchen for some of the side dishes.. then bk to the computer..
WELL...
I wrote down the plays I was putting in.. Baylor -5.5... 650/433 ... and parlay Bay-5.5/OV 145.5.. 733/1428... and Bay ml/OV 146.5.. 500/

I've got them all written on my sheet... and I dish up my food on the plate, sit down, look at my computer screen and see my $733 par.. Baylor's up big early.. I'm lovin it... I scroll down the page and I never put the password in and hit 'place bet'... so I start lookin at the rest of my open pages.. see the other page for the betting site.. look at it and see I did the SAME DAMN THING!! I screwed up winning about $2500 becuz I was trying to get the damn food ready!!

I have managed to multi-task successfully on many occasions, but I'll tell ya that was sure a biggg fuck-up!!!

that's one of the most expensive steak dinners I ever ate...
and it wasn't even that good... I definitely had a bitter taste in my mouth so that mighta had something to do with it lol :142smilie

LOB'ss nice Oregon St win . A little nervous at the end. I passed on the game though. But those men Bears are tough. When you have 4 gds like that its hard to stop all of them Not sure why Ark coach didn't call a timeout at the end. But I guess he knows his team better then anyone. Sometimes the time outs backfires. My teams always had trouble freezing the ball. I would get criticized by tv announcers or writers about it with a 5 pt lead and under 2 or 3 minutes left in the game. "Take some air out of the ball" In practice vs the JV team .I couldn't keep from turning it over to them let alone a varsity team in the sectionals . But the announcers knew in advance why I wasn't making 10 passes . Only if we played teams that over played the passing lane.. like most catholic high schools we would set them up and go backdoor. not profiling Catholic teams but I had all black and Puerto Rican kids and they thought we would force the ball in panic times.. but we worked on backdoor for 30 minutes in practice and up a few with under a few minutes and you get a backdoor layup glass swish. Its a dagger in the heart. Backdoor layups are about 100% FG .. its the top FG% basket other then an offensive rebound,
Think Baylor ladies did get fouled by the Huskie player at the end.. But there are so many other plays during the game buts its the timing of the play. I know you want a no call but it does look like the Huskie player leaned in a little and then straighten up..
think Zaga is still the best team out there.. Don;t know the line yet for tonight but USC has Mobsley ..

I made a comment about how nice a day it was here in sunny so calif.. and you come bk w/wild fires and homelessness and how Venice Beach ain't what it used to be

First thought is... like wildfires, homelessness is not "weather"...
it exists, and it's very sad.. and I certainly didn't cause it!
there's lots of reasons for it being so prevalent in calif, biggest IS the weather... there's plenty of cheap housing in other parts of the country, but they stay here mainly cuz of warm weather year-round... public transportation is cheap.. and they can usually find a soup kitchen..

Do you split time living in Wisc and PR?
I'm guessing you don't spend a lot of winters in Wisc... neither do the homeless.
How many homeless are on the streets in Wisconsin in January?
there's a reason the Rose Parade is in Pasadena and not Madison.

I remember u live in PR also... approx 2.25% the size of calif...

LOB the bad section in San Juan is called La Perla. You know junkies and criminals etc.. I had a stainless steel S$W stolen off my boat docked in San Juan.I didnt know who did it but I knew where it would end up.LA PERLA...
I go down there with two dudes I trust in situations like that and asked to speak to the dude running that place.Oh you want to talk to the Major....Lol I'm showed to his place and tell him what the gun looks like etc.and say I'm willing to pay 200 dollars no questions asked.He tells me to go back to my boat and within an hour it will be there. I go back and within an hour a girl pulls up in a taxi with my Pistole and paid her and we were all happy...LOL Its a ruff place LOB you dont ever want to go to LA PERLA SAN JUAN...LOL
