I am very surprised of a black lab biting anyone, since I own a black lab.

I've have 2 dogs right now and black lab is the furthiest animal from being dominate, hell I think a cat would be more dominate than my dog, all the labs I've been around are usually very friendly and laid back.

My guess is your dog has some kind of sickness, I would take him to a vet and have him checked out.

But if it does comes down to your kids or your dog, your dog would have to go.

Hope everything works out for u.

2 children. Dog bites children.

thanks for that gem.

NJ, sorry about your problem. I have a 15 year old retriever now (Chessie) who has always had a sort of "guarding" instinct. He's never hurt anybody, but we have all known about this tendency in him for a long time. We know that we don't need to mess around his food bowl or act like we are because that sets him off and triggers him to guard it. It's actually an innate behavior that was bred into some dogs. Maybe your retriever has a little of this in him?? My kids never had a problem with him except for a few minor run-ins where the dog would growl at them. Your dog is a little more aggressive than this since he has bitten them.

I will also say I certainly don't think this should be a death sentence for him. In the right environment, I think he would still thrive.

Yeh maybe ok in the right environment .

Maybe as a attack dog. Yeh thats the ticket.

Dogs are supposed to guard and protect the family. They do not bite the owners children.

Not twice that is.
