Figure I'll start a thread to discuss the nat'l title and scenarios etc....the 4-team playoff can't get here fast enough. I think the overall answer is an 8-team playoff and honestly, why not just let everyone play in a bowl game. The magical "6 wins" for most teams is not a good season at all so why not just add more games and give everyone a bowl...

Looks like a 5-team race although I guess Ohio St could possibly get 1/2 of it.

Oregon and K-State control their own destiny. At this point in the season I don't care how ugly they win....if they win, they shouldn't get jumped.

Notre Dame appears to be on the outside looking in. Need to win out and hope for Ore or K-St to lose. I think USC will beat them anyway. As a fan, its gonna really suck if they are unbeaten and don't get to play for the title.

Alabama and Georgia will play each other in the SEC title game and the winner should be in position to play for nat'l title if 2 of the top 3 teams lose a game.

Of the remaining games....Oregon plays some tough games but I think they are too good to lose. I don't think K-St plays anyone good enough to beat them. I love Snyder and K-St so if ND doesn't win it all, I hope they do. Would also like to see a rematch of 1980 Sugar Bowl, Georgia/ND.

Hoping to at least see some close games for Oregon and K-St down the stretch and see what happens in ND/USC. Should be fun but damn I wish 4-team playoff was this season.

I think Stanford gives Oregon one hell of a run for their money this Saturday night!

UGA/ND bowl game would be alot of fun to watch. If ND doesn't get into the title game, no way in hell the Fiesta Bowl wont select them........they are destined for the Fiesta if they dont get to play for all the marbles.

Yeah, Oregon has 3 tough games left. Stanford, Oregon State, and then I think USC in the Pac-12 title game.

If there are some losses.....would be cool to see SEC title game as basically a semi-final matchup with winner going to the national title game.

that could very well happen if 2 of the 3 unbeatens suffer losses prior to Dec. 1st.

I saw in one spot where they had ND vs Nebraska in Rose Bowl as their prediction...Do not want to see that...would love to see ND vs Bama again just like back in the 70's...man i'm old LOL.....I am not a fan of ND BUT if all three teams end up without a loss it will be a travesty for the one that get's left out and once again all other sports will be laughing at college football with this shit system.

I do agree but even if there are only 2 unbeaten teams....its still a shit system that just doesn't work.

People could say that Alabama lost a "playoff game" on Saturday but even that wouldn't be true. How do you lose a playoff game and still have a chance to win the title.

All we can do is watch as it unfolds and just be thankful that we aren't going to have some bullshit conference "rematch". I still feel like Alabama and LSU split the title last year.

I know some say the regular season means a lot more with the BCS BUT College basketball you lose game in reg season and have the best tournament of all sports IMO...i'd settle for even 8 in a playoff but 32 would be AWESOME, at least to me....Let's say u have Stanford vs loiusville in a bowl game...Odds are i'm not all that interested unless i have a play on either side...Make that a first round game in 32 team playoff and i'm jacked up and watching every second....I know that won't ever happen but i can dream...Anyone know how many teams get in the lower division for college football playoffs???

Pretty sure its 16 teams. I'd like to see 8 teams in Div 1.

At the most, I'd say 12 teams and give the top 4 teams a bye but I think 8 teams is perfect.

Wouldn't have a prob with 8 at all...A LOT better than it is now...32 would just be a blast to watch for sure....

if ore gets to #1 in the bcs (and they should with their remaining schedule) and they play kst in the title game.....the rose bowl will have first choice to replace its representative since ore is in title game

their options would be:
traditional pac-12 vs big-10 and select an outside the top 12 bcs ranked 3 loss ore st or ucla OR an undefeated #3 rankes notre dame

no brainer that they will select notre dame ESP given that they selected teams like tcu and nebraska (from big 12) in recent years.

yeah they very well may do that if that's what it comes to....I live in Wisconsin so obviously hoping Badgers get to Rose Bowl and would be cool to play ND....Not much i can do about who goes where just want things to be fair. ND and Bama seems appealing to me as well....

I think a 8 team playoff would be perfect, play the first 4 games to kick off the bowl season.

Let all 4 losing teams be selected then to play a Jan 1st bowl.

Play the semi finals ( 2 games ) around xmas eve

then 2 weeks later , about 5-6 days after jan 1, let the title game happen

So basically the top 8 teams get min 2 games at end of year

I'd say play the quarterfinals in mid-December. As far as the 4 losing teams....I'd say their season is done. I think your either in the playoff or in a bowl and I really don't know how much interest one of those teams would really have in a bowl at that point.

I'd play the semi-finals on Jan 1st and then play the title game 2 weeks later....mid-Jan.

I could see the committe taking UCLA if they win out. Hard to see them pass on a 10-2 UCLA game in their own stadium....if they can close out with home wins against USC and Stanford. There's defintiely a scenario for it. It's not like the game doesn't always sell out anyway.

they cant finish 10-2

if they win out, they are playing ore in the pac-12 title game in oregon and the discussion is assuming ore is in the title game meaning they beat ucla who is them 10-3 (another 3 loss team pac-12 team)

they rose bowl has passed up traditional matchups 3-4 times this decade for teams like tcu, texas, nebraska and oklahoma.....you dont think they jump at an undefeated notre dame because they want a 3 loss ucla team becasue they play their home games in the same stadium (in front of 55k not 95k?)

no chance......unless there are backroom deals in place to get nd into a certain matchup

just don't think it's as cut and dry as you think, and that's just my opinion. The rose bowl has sold out every year since 1947. Notre Dame doesn't add anything to it. ESPN or ABC or whomever will have ND in one BCS game so they will get their money anyway. They haven't been since '99 and they love their tradition of big-10 pac-10.

look, you probably are right.....but it's just not a done deal imo. you're entitled to yours.

Notre Dame should win today and be 2 games away from a possible title....at least a perfect season. My high school is unbeaten...won last night to advance to semi-finals of state playoffs. 2 games away from title and perfect season.

My high school won it all in 1987 and has been dominant ever since but never won another title. Notre Dame won it in 1988 and we came oh so close both in 1989 and 1990 (not b/c of me but I was on the team lol). Had a shot at it that '88 year too....they should have moved me up from JV lmao!!

No real point here....just hyped about my high school having a chance to win it all!! Was a great game last night!!
