USC should be able to slow down the Ill ground game, particularly w/ a month to prep.

USC's D should have no problem shutting down the running game, and Juice is not a very good passer. If I were USC I would watch film on the Iowa-Illinois game to see how to shut it down. All Iowa did was place LB Mike Humpal as a spy on Juice all day. Humpal is pretty athletic and was able to make all the open field tackles. This completely disrupted Juice. USC's D is far more athletic than Iowa's. I don't believe this one will be close, but USC's offense still scares me a bit.

I don't think Georgia will have a let down game. My feeling is that Richt wants to make sure the media can't say "I told you so" on us not getting a shot at the title. And this is not to say that I feel we are one of the top two teams.

I'm not saying the play is not Hawaii, but I wouldn't play it based on a UGA letdown.

I do think Georgia is "as deserving" as the two teams in there. The real disappointment is that the Rose Bowl did not give us the opportunity to see USC and UGA face off which would have also allowed for a Florida-Illini match-up.

Oh well. Long live the BCS!

Agreed. USC in a laugher. Are there any Big-10 teams that will cover/win this bowl season? Upon 1st glance, it doesn't appear to me that there is. Which means they all win and cover....;)

SC teams of the past would blow Out Illinois here, but this is a different SC team. They are unstable on offense but solid on the defensive side. I am not too familiar with Illinois but I would not think SC wins this one in a route unless Illinois is really shaky and slow after being off for so long.

I see SC winning this game by less than double digits.

Actually the Sugar bowl did it. Yes in theory the Rose would pick first, but apparently there is some caveat that when a Bowl loses its host team (LSU) that bowl can take another team from its conference first in the pecking order. So the Sugar took Georgia. That said, I think the Rose would ahve taken Illinois anyway.

Hmm. This differs from what I have briefly read, but I have only done so in passing. That is interesting.

My question: does the Rose Bowl benefit from USC (home team) winning the game? If so, I think this could be a secondary reason for choosing Illinois. Whether or not Georgia can beat USC, Illinois is certainly an easier opponent.
