getting an early start on the upcoming week. right off the bat, just wanted to pass along a very important 'heads up' that bruce gradkowski did not practice last thursday and only saw limited practice reps on friday. toledo coach amstutz is being really quiet on the whole thing. clint cochran is the backup and hes a redshirt freshman - he got the majority of the practice reps on saturday. gradkowski missed a 2nd half series against temple after getting taking a hit on a pass attempt. still finished the game, but no report on what the actual injury is. not sure if this game will be off the board for now or if theyre gonna hang an early number up there anyways. but obviously, he is vitally important to this team. dont want anyone hammering an early line without knowing if hes gonna play or how limited he will be.

honolulu, Hi, USA
Thanx for the heads up. Still feel Fresno rolls over Toledo with or without Gradkowski. Fresno is loaded and is a tough venue to play at. That's why none of the Pac-10 teams wants to go there.

looks like he's now a gametime decision. fwiw, cochran has played in all three games this year so its not like he hasnt seen the field. obviously the games have been decided when hes taken his snaps. but hes 14/16 for 92 yards on the season.

Gman, appreciate the time and effort you put forth toward posting.

I generally look for "under" opportunities, but in scanning this weeks plethera of games I see
BG and Temple at 64.

Now, not being very astute with the MAC,does this total not seem low?

From my limited info on these two teams,I see a powerhouse offence(BG)putting up at least fifty on Temple.
And BG being neglect of any sort of "D" leads me to believe that Temple is good for a few TD`s.

Thanks in advance!

Would also luv Spangs or Goats opinion on this play.

some thoughts on toledo/fresno:

no play on this one, but lean to toledo even with the question mark hovering around gradkowski. kinda kicking myself for staying away from boise last week because bowling green's defense is just so porous that it was only a matter of time before boise started taking huge chunks of yards on each running play. perception is that toledo is the same kind of team as bowling green (lots of offense, no defense) and thats not necessarily true. toledo struggled on defense early on last year but finished the season very strong on the side of the ball. fresno is going to be a definite test for them, but the rockets should be up to the challenge. toledo is an aggressive defense that likes to blitz and they find ways to create turnovers. theyve already forced 6 turnovers on defense this year and theyve returned 3 of those for touchdowns.

obviously if cochran is forced into action, that will make the toledo spread offense a little more vanilla. theyre not going to be running their sophisticated stuff. but theyve got a good offensive line and good running backs that should help him out. toledo has done a good job of developing quarterbacks in recent years and they seem to think that the team would be ok with cochran under center if it comes down to it.

just think the line is really inflated. i saw some 14s and 14.5s which is an awful lot of points to give toledo even sans gradkowski. fresno will be out for blood but the rockets should be able to hang around and make this a game. slight lean to toledo with the inflated line. think the line move with boise last week was dead on. but think this one is just too much.

hells kitchen, i think that game is going to be a rout but i couldnt rely on temple for points, even if they are playing bowling green. hell, they struggled mightily to score in the 2nd half at home vs. western michigan last week. bowling green is going to beat the ever living piss outta them on saturday. but id be fearful of something like 51-10. i just think temple is going to give a half-ass "woe
is us" effort after their heartbreaking loss against western michigan last week, a game that the owls had circled as their only truly winnable game of the season

mcdougle has actually seen action in the last two games on special teams. theyve been working him back slowly and trying to get him some live action before they throw him in the backfield. toledo is so deep at running back that they can afford to let him come back at his own pace and make sure he's 100%. whether or not he'll actually get some touches, i dont know. but hes available to play. but theyve gotten good production from dawson and also have been impressed with redshirt frosh davis. and theyve got parmele in the backfield too. so theres no rush to throw mcdougle back there until hes definitely good to go and ready to carry the workload. hes been playing the last 2 games, just not in the backfield. tonight should be a good test for him.

i just made a small action play on toledo 1st half (+10) (-120). pinnacle and royal have 7.5 and 8 juiced up for fresno, but im content to grab the 10 and lay -120. real small play for me. just somethin to watch. so small its not even worth posting, lol. but toledo has been very good in the 1h this year. even though its been against weak competition, teams arent scoring on toledos D early.
