If this is kept a loss I wouldn't stay w/ that book...

It is in the rules apparently....and im not questioning the books honesty....but sometimes things are clearly in need of change/adjustment....you bet first 10....the shot took place in 1st 10....end of discussion IMO...you cannot make a wager and win/lose based off the officials making the incorrect call and then correcting it but only to find out they didnt correct it in time????

The shot/score took place way before the 10 minute mark.....why does it matter when it was fixed

Just my opinion....jacks the most knowledgeable guy in the business and I may be way off....but sometimes the customer is right, and always remember these customers are the reason you have a job.....

Doing the right thing is sometimes wrong....and vice versa. ..just my opiniin but plenty of other books.....although they may have the same goofy rules

Again not questioning the books honesty....they are doing what their rules state....but just like the nfl...some rules are bad rules

Stupid rule since correct is made in minutes and the "loser's" aren't paid yet.....Probably a once in a season occurance, and you got the bad end of it.

I guess it's a tough position to be in for the book so they have to have rules.

The book paid all the other bets that were on the other side so it's not like the book gets off without paying up.

Bad rule? Maybe.

If they would have paid TON's side, what about the other side that would complain that the book wasn't going by their own rules?

Hell if I know, but I do know I wouldn't make any of those kinds of bets that's for sure. Too many things to go wrong for the player and the house.

This ticket has been graded as loss, the points scored in 2nd Half period were:
Kent State (1st 10 min) - 12 Toledo (1st 10 min) - 16
Toledo (1st 10 min) won the period by -4

Game: Kent State at Toledo. There was an official scoring change, it was made at 09:41, and this is NOT to be taken in consideration as per our rules.

Please follow this link to find the rules in regards: Basketball Wagering
www.5dimes.eu/sb_rules.html#basketball

NCAA first and next 10-minute results are determined from digital recordings of television broadcasts. The ball must be completely through the cylinder and net before 9:59 remaining for a basket to be official in the first 10 minutes of a half. ESPN.com, Yahoo.com, CBSsportsline.com, or any other play-by-play log of the game will not be used or considered for claims.
Official scoring changes made after the six or ten minute mark will not count towards scores for grading purposes. Correction of errors made on television broadcast score displays will be applied when the score actually occurred.
Due to the fact that our rules are clearly stated in our web site, customers may not argue ignorance in this matter, this wager remains as a loss.

Hope this helps you!

Regards,

The above was sent to me from 5Dimes after I asked them about it for TON, I didn't respond with my own interpretation of the rule.

Would love to know the total action they had on a Toledo Kent first 10 minute wager,,,of the second half,,,Reminds me of the book that honored all the bama versus sisters of the blind school earlier in the year when it was cancelled after 54 minutes due to weather and was crowing about it,,Probably didn't have 200 dollars total bet on that game,,Ton had a 500.00 bet on this it appears,, I would willing to bet was more than all the other action together on that prop of first 10 minutes second half,,

The total action on the other side would be interesting to see, no doubt. However, it still wouldn't trump the fact that they do have a rule in place that was there for everybody to see before any bets were made. And that rule makes it pretty clear.

So. Cal
A totally subjective bet

According to their rules they take the digital feed at the 10 min mark and not any paper play by play and also the ball must be "clearly thru the basket"

What if the scoreboard clock isn't working
What if the clock feed on the TV network isn't working
Occasionally that tv feed is not the actual game clock
What does clearly thru the basket mean....in the hoop, thru the net????
What if there is goaltending right at the 10 min mark...usually takes the ref a second or two to blow the whistle and acknowledge it while the clock runs

too many subjective things that can change the outcome of a bet. ...and didn't even list what happened in this particular game.

Personally,

Personally,

I believe it should be a cancelled wager- the fact that the confusion was caused by ESPN and not necessarily the refs or the game officials is the problem I have. I feel like since the action was clearly taken before the 10 minute mark but there was confusion by ESPN broadcast then the wager should be canceled.

I would say the handle on this was medium because it was an isolated TV game and pretty much the only thing you could bet on.

FWIW...

FWIW...

I just had a conversation with one of the head haunchos of one of the sponsors (former) book of this website and he said this is a common sense matter. The wager should have been graded a win and that's it. He went on to say that since the score was changed during the game and within a certain time frame then it is a duh on how this should be treated. Obviously, he does not manage 5dimes but just to put it out there on how another sportsbook manager would treat this matter.
