Hey guys/gals: hope everyone is having a productive baseball season!! I have a question/problem.....that I thought I would run by the fine folks here at Madjacks to see if anyone might generate the right answer:

A little background: About a month ago a local radio station here in northern California started this contest that gives away a boat if someone can guess the celebrities that are hypothetically in the boat. My sister spends a great deal of her time listening to this radio station and had actually won a few smaller prizes by guessing a couple of the celebrities that are in the boat (The station gives clues then you have to be a caller like #7 to give your answer)

The boat is a beauty and I guess worth about $25,000 so its a nice contest. Anyway, they are down to the final celebrity and have been giving away the clues for the past 3 days and noone has guessed the correct celebrity to win the boat!

I thought I would pass on the information for her and if she gets lucky and is the right caller one of you madjackers may win her the boat; in which I would find a way to send you something awful worthwhile!!

Anyway; here are the clues! The previous celebrites were:

1. Ryan Seacrest
2. Jake Gyllenhaal (I think how you spell it)
3. Hulk Hogan
4. Sara Evans
5. Mathew Fox
6. Gene Hackman
7 ?????? (for the boat)...who is it?

Here are the clues:

1. Gets up early every morning
2. Has a college degree
3. Wears glasses (didn't say wether they were sun-glasses or normal reading glasses....I would assume the latter.

4. Over 30 years old
5. Has won several awards
6. Has received numerous complaints from critics
7. Likes to paint
8. Is NOT a Politician
9. Sporting events are important to him
10. IS A male
11. Has a Gold Medal
12. Is often asked to give motivational speeches
13. His wife helps him with many things
14. Has children
15. E-Bay sells many items with his name on it
16. Almost always uses a DRIVER
17. Involved with Television
18. Lives in the United States
19. He is Multi-Lingual

*There thats it........anyone? I have to admit that I don't watch much tv, but there seems to be a sports connection with this person, so my sis thought I would have a clue....I don't....had a couple of guesses.

She said people have guessed Steven Spielberg, Arnold Swarzennegar, Rosie O'Donnell (before they knew it was a male), Something Vierra?, and some others but the only person that the announcers said were close was Bill Gates (she thought they were referring to Bill as maybe being in the name, but who knows)......the tricky parts are the Glasses? (didn't say sun glasses, but we are assuming reading glasses)...also Gold Medal? We don't know if this person actually won an Olympic Gold Medal or was some other type of Gold Medal.......lastly, The part about "this person almost always needs a driver"?? We don't know if that is a golf reference or if this person doesn't drive much at all.

I realize this is time consuming to read all this info, but if she gets lucky and is the right caller tomorrow morning, it would be great if she knew who this person was. I also don't E-bay so I'm clueless there too!

Anyone have any ideas? All guesses are appreciated, and I know there are some very smart people on this board so I figured I would throw these out there and see if anyone had a clue, or if something just stands out and they know who it is? Like I said all guesses are appreciated....and if she wins.....I will make sure that person gets something pretty cool in the mail.

Thanks guys.....I'm hoping some of you are bored on this Tuesday night!

Thanks again- StWoody!!

...maybe TJ & shamrock are on to something? I just don't know if Ali has a college degree or if he likes to paint or if he's Multi-Lingual, but that sounds plausible???

edit: you have to narrow it down by gold metals first....

p.s. #10 was kind of useless after #9. LMAO! :mj07: (07 is for you, agent.)

I'm going to say Andrew Wyeth- think they're trying to throw you off with the gold medal- first thought is Olympic but Wyeth won the Congressional Gold Medal and meets criterias 2-4-5-6-7-8-10-11-14-15-18...not sure about the others but seem general enough to give consideration to.

Doubt they give away a boat on an obvious choice like Ali. Technically, didn't Ali throw his gold medal away, so he doesn't really have a gold medal anymore.

Ali was given an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from Ky. State in 2003. Not sure if that counts or not.

...actually looked at this post and it was intelligent and well thought out. You're probably correct in at least part of your assumptions about the obvious choice of Ali. Congrats for being civil.... :)

...but the funny thing is Little Feat is playing "Fat Man in the Bathtub" on the station and the sight of you in a hottub inside an igloo...well, it just turns my stomach. :nono: :com: :scared

I know Ali always enjoy painting, also has several honorary college degrees. Gets up early to pray, wears glasses, needs help from wife, never drives, lives in U.S. etc. etc. only thing I'm not positive multi lingual, although he has been involved with Muslim since '60s, so I imagine he speaks some Arabic??

I guess that would mean if currently involved in television. Or if ever involved in television, Ali and his antics with Howard Cousell were legendary on wide world of sports.

Some great thoughts here guys! Taoist- sorry I just kinda threw these up as she gave them to me on a paper bag (lol)....I nosed through E-Bay and Ali is pretty popular, I hadn't even thought of the others. I will do some research tonight and see! Ali in northern Ca would be a tough guess for many of these people so you might just be on to something here! I didn't know about the Gold Medal.....Nice work so far guys!

Hey guys....no luck so far.....wasn't able to get through! 1 of the guesses was Mary Lou Retton (lol)....think its supposed to be a guy.

Anyway, the 2 new clues:

The Olympics are dear to this persons heart

This person wasn't born in the US?? Wasn't Ali born in Kentucky? I'm totally confused here now...as I thought it was probably Ali. Next guess coming up within an hour!!
Any other ideas??

The Olympic Club in San Francisco has held two US Opens. Probably something to do with that country club. Scott Simpson and Lee Janzen are past winners if that gives any ideas.
